Worst experience at a boxing gym ever. Went in today to watch a friend spar, who was told by an employee a few days prior, that he could spar just by signing a waiver. I also wanted to check the gym out, to see if I'd be interested in joining. The man at the front desk (I'm assuming was the owner) was extremely rude, and told me that no one was sparring besides his people, and that I couldn't watch. When I asked again if I could at least check the place out and spectate, he told me to read the sign, and demanded that I sign up or leave. Mind you, there were parents with their children spectating. It was very clear that he did not want me there. This guy lost two potential customers today. read more

If you're looking for a place where you or your children can learn self defense skills or some type of boxing skills - THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU!!!! This is only the place for you IF you're looking to go pro. My only issue with this gym - is that you should be made aware of that when you first buy the membership not after the fact. No one will train you're child unless he's going pro, so therefore be ready to just be standing around the gym (just hanging out by yourself). Staff is not knowledgeable - does not what the gym has to offer, so don't look to obtain any information from them. Do NOT buy the Groupon either. A few friends also ran into this problem. read more

If you're looking for a true old school boxing gym in San Diego this is your place! No attitudes, no egos, and no BS. I had done some boxing many years ago and when I saw their 1 month Groupon I decided to check out BBA. I called Juan before I went in and knew immediately that he was passionate about boxing. He was also friendly and easy to talk to. In the few minutes that we talked he spoke highly of female boxers, so I knew that this would be a good environment for me. My first day working with Carlos I realized how incredibly bad my form was and how many things I was doing wrong! I regularly work mitts and Thai pads with a trainer, but we focus on striking and power, as opposed to pure boxing form. Juan and Carlos never mentioned how pathetic I looked, but instead took the time to demonstrate perfect form and correct me as needed. They did not have to do this, after all I had purchased a Groupon and was not paying for any type of training. They could have easily showed me a thing or two and left me alone for the rest of the month, but that was not the case. A month is not nearly long enough to truly hone your boxing skills, but I definitely made improvements and got in some fantastic workouts. I really liked everyone I came in contact with at Bound Boxing. I love the fact that Juan's entire family is so involved in the sport and are always at the gym. If my work schedule was different I would become a member here in a heartbeat. I'm hoping that my son will show an interest in boxing, because I would love for him to work with Juan and Carlos. **You need to be aware that the workouts here are extremely challenging. Let me start off by saying this has nothing to do with the academy itself. I've never been so I have no opinion. My review is simply for the online store. Absolutely horrible customer service. I bought a pair of Ringside Apex gloves just to use for bag work. I had a membership to a boxing gym, but only for the month, as I was just trying it out. I have this great little mma shop near my house and also had plenty of options at the gym I was attending. I went with Bound Boxing because of their great prices. You really do get what you pay for. After about a week of waiting for my confirmation email/tracking number, I decided to give them a call. Apparently the particular gloves I had ordered were on back order... which would have been great to know since I had now 22 days to get a pair of gloves. I'm a pretty understanding guy but never in the mood for the run around, especially from a business. I decided on a different pair of gloves since I had already paid for the product. Finally after a few days of waiting around for any sign of my order being shipped I called back. This time I got hung up on and then once I finally got through I received the blame game. One person said it was the warehouse guys, another person said it was the computer system and so on. At this point I could care less as to who's fault it was, I just wanted the company as a whole to make things right and ship my gloves. During this whole time I had emailed and left voice mails regarding my order and all I ever got was 1 email back. Never a return call. I asked if there was anyway that I could get next day or 2nd day air shipping for no charge, since I should have technically had my gloves by then. I didn't feel like this was such an outrageous request, but unfortunately I was denied.. HOWEVER, did get granted free shipping for my next order. Pretty hilarious right? I decided to politely decline and do them one better. Since this company had no plans of even trying the least to keep a costumer and took no responsibility for the whole fiasco, I did us both a favor and got a refund. As a business owner myself I know how important it is to keep every costumer you have, because if the customer likes a company enough they will keep coming back. How so? Since my boxing membership I have purchased a couple different pairs of gloves, a BOB sparring bag, a speed bag and I'm always looking to add to them. read more

Great place, doesn't let the kids mess around (what I like best). Got my son in about 3 weeks ago (age 10) ,seems to be doing good and learning. Like his setup and the way he has his family of boxers all around the place! Those who say he only pays attention to those who are looking to go pro, I don't think so. They give good, TUFF attention to all, and more to the ones who want MORE. In my opinion I love that because I don't feel the kid who is caught picking his nose every 5 min deserves to be with the ones who are working hard to achieve their goals. I wouldn't recommend this gym to nobody. I'm very disappointed tonight. I went to see my friend son fight. Top it off they charge $15 a person which I had no idea they charge. There was no signs in front nor on the website. There was a group of 20 of us that came specifically to watch him not others. Right before the fight my friend son opponent supposedly got sick so it end up to be no fight after all. I'm very disappointed not to watch the fight that I specifically came for. I ask the person at the door to ask the owner if I can have my money back since there was no fight and I also paid $53. The message taker told me the owner Juan was too busy and there is no refunds. To me I think it's very unprofessional for the owner not to come out to apologize to his customers. He should have handle the situation a lot better. I think Its all the money. They keep on allowing people to go in knowing it was over its capacity. This is a big fire hazard. I think you need to put somewhere that you dont give refunds on anything even watching fights!!!!!!! read more
