This is going to be a long review because Gary and his team deserve every word. For those that…read morearen't in to the long reviews, here's the bottom line:
*You won't find better service or a better price
*Gary is a local professional who takes his craft seriously and is there every step of the way (quote, contract, install, cleanup)
*The Good Fellows team replaced 20 very old sash windows with high quality vinyl windows in a single day.
*They left everything just as it was except with brand new, beautifully installed windows.
As I mentioned, my windows were very old. They were single-pane sash windows that used a weight and pulley system. If a Prius drove by too quickly, you'd probably hear it through the glass. There was essentially little-to-no noise protection and if it was even just slightly windy outside, you'd know because every window would rattle. But that's not why I wanted to replace them. In just two months, I spent ~$1,000 in heating...
My wife and I decided we were ready to buy some windows, but wanted to check more than one vendor. I submitted a request for a quote on Home Advisor and within minutes I had three appointments. Gary was the cheapest by THOUSANDS, which of course made me think "how's that even possible?" After reading some of his 100+ reviews on Home Advisor, I knew I found our window guy before he even showed up.
When he did, he was an absolute professional and we got along right away. His quotes are significantly lower because he's not hiring sales people or spending a bunch on marketing. He's a local guy that does great work and let's it speak for itself through happy customers like me (my words, not his).
We left our deposit and Gary assured us they would be ready in three weeks, that he'd call the Tuesday before they arrived, and that he'd have everything installed in a day. Sure enough, three weeks later they were in, he called to schedule, and we had our installation day planned.
I mentioned earlier that we had sash windows with weight-pulley systems. The reason our windows rattled is because wood used in these types of windows shrinks, creating gaps. These aren't the only gaps, however. Inside of the pulley system are giant uninsulated pockets. No wonder I was spending so much on heat! I was losing warm air to all these gaps hidden inside and around my windows. Gary helped explain all this to me during the initial quote and showed me the actual gaps during the installation. I turned on the heat after they were all done and left for an hour while the house heated up. I couldn't believe how warm the house was when I got back and I had set the temperature lower than I normally do! As someone who cares about the environment as well as my wallet, I knew the investment was worth it right away.
I skipped over the actual installation because I'm just so happy with the way things came out! Gary and his team were efficient, clean, professional, and experienced. I work from home and worried the banging might be disruptive. The guys were so quick and methodical I barely noticed they were here. At one point, Gary noticed the slightest crack inside a window. Rather than just install it, he brought it to my attention and ordered the replacement right on the spot. Didn't have me deal with the manufacturer - he did it himself. The gaps I mentioned earlier ended up being bigger than expected so Gary drove out to Home Depot and bought more insulation while the guys continued working. He didn't add it to my total, or make excuses - he just did what he had to to get the job done.
If you're still reading this, I hope you've long-since made up your mind. I don't have a bunch of free time to write super long reviews but if writing this means that one new customer can have the experience I did, it'll be worth it. I wish there were more businesses and professionals like Gary and the Good Fellows team. We will absolutely be calling him for any future window, siding, or roofing needs. Great service, great quality and great pricing!!
