It's a bright…read moreplace with a definite sense of community -- from the shared variety of milks to the chalkboard where you can make recommendations for the office music. There were plenty of available tables and I found myself easily going into a modular system throughout the day: starting with a standing table to do personal work, breaking to sit down with a colleague for a few hours, transitioning to a secluded spot for a small group meeting, and then welcoming people into the 20-person board meeting after hours. By 5:30pm, the place emptied out, so we had plenty of space in an enclosed room for the meeting and in the open area for the potluck. As I was setting up the potluck, I ran into an acquaintance that I've only met twice prior. She was interested in my organization and asked to stay connected. Additionally, throughout the day, several of my board colleagues were in and out of the meeting space. I usually only see these people every other month for 2 hours or via email -- and here I was naturally bumping into them all the time. It was easier to resolve questions quickly in-person versus our usual virtual conversations. Everyone is pretty chill and friendly. The wifi took a minute to work, but once connected -- I had no problems. The internet is strong enough to do a virtual video conference call, although I did stalk the phone booth offices for a few minutes before snagging one that wasn't occupied. Lots of street parking if you plan on being there only 1-2 hours (free after 6pm I believe). However, it can be expensive ($10) to park in a ramp for the full day. So best to use transit to get here or scope our the area to find some affordable ramps if you want to keep costs low. I look forward to coming back again! Finnegans brewery is downstairs, so at one of our next board meetings, we're going to prep with happy hour drinks!

We communicated initially via email to set up our appointment and I could instantly feel the energy and excitement that she exudes. Apart from her warm and welcoming spirit, this woman knows her stuff. She is good!! Within 90 minutes, she managed to help answer questions and concerns I have battled for over a decade. I went in my session prepared to take notes but this never manifested because I was so caught up in the moment and everything she was saying. I hope one realizes that at some point we need a life coach. If you are reading this review, book Jasna now. It's an order! I promise no parts of yourself will regret it. This woman is amazing! My session was filled with tears and laughter but mostly insight. While I mostly read self-help books, it was a blessing to have someone personalize these teachings. Jasna asks all the right questions and ties up everything in a nice bow. Lastly, She is genuinely concerned about her clients and this is evident in her follow through after the session. Geoff is responsive, supportive, and technically proficient in most every aspect of my project. Areas not in his wheelhouse, he provided me with his network of professionals who I have found to have the same qualities. Geoff was accommodating in support when my project attention was pulled away and adjusted his warranty terms to assure that his work was well-supported and represented within the project costs during testing times. If he is available for my next two projects, he will be my developer when the time comes. And lastly, I have never had to correct him on the spelling of my name...LOL

When I paid the 2nd $1200 in 2014 I was told the site was at least half completed. 2014 went by, 2015 went by and 2016 went by and still no site done. He kept telling me it was close and even asked for the last and final payment from me and transferred the site to my domain. I refused to pay the last payment until I saw the site working. Geoff then sent me an email stating that he was stopping the work on my site, per the contract we had. So be very careful with the contract you sign with Geoff B. Myers with SimDex, LLC!!! I demanded the $2400 I paid to be paid back to me and Geoff did not return my calls, letters and/or emails or texts. I took the claim to small claims court in Minnesota, which is where SimDex was located in 2014 and still has an office, and I won a judgment against SimDex. Geoff told the Judge that he underestimated my project and didn't have the resources to work on it and other jobs besides, so he told the Judge that he could either make one customer unhappy or make 5 unhappy. He decided to make one unhappy, Me. Now I have to try to get the money I am owed. Buyer Beware!!!!! Do not work with this company or Geoff B. Myers, you will be very sorry you did. No class, no integrity, zero honesty, the kind of person you wish you would have never met! He used the LLC as a shield to purposely harm people, take advantage of them and to scam money.

It's one thing to hear horror stories about fraudulent lawyers & deceptive doctors, and usually one…read moredoesn't hear about accountants, CPA's, and VCFO's in the same breath. It's quite sobering when you meet a rare someone who disappoints so badly that they shatter stereotypes & notions of group of professionals who are popularly assumed to be upstanding & ethical. Such is the case with Mary Brettmann, who pItched herself as somebody who'd meet my needs of seeking a "holistic VCFO" who can help strategize business financial needs together with my personal financial goals. Due to my experience with her failing her fiduciary duties in a very striking manner, I can no longer entrust any accountants or CPA's at face value anymore. Here's a laundry list of objections I have about Mary: Failed to follow executive directives for financial planning and forecasting. Failed to deliver on projects we agreed to, such as migration to QuickBooks. What's striking is that she markets herself as being certified in QuickBooks. Erroneously booked & classified transactions, which has resulted in potentially overstated outstanding balance due to the IRS. A trusted colleague has described the transactions & our business model as "not complicated at all." Failed to manage to close out month-ends and quarter-ends on time with the 4 basic financial statements. After getting "caught up" for Q1 2016 and promising to keep books current, failed to execute. Instead of planning for earmarking 50+% of net profits for state & federal income taxes, she continually advised to rely on unspecified vague tax write-offs to potentially pare down tax obligations. Ultimately, it turned out our business had very little which could be written off, and we were slammed with a roughly 55% tax bill with no money in the coffers (even in the foreseeable future) to readily pay it. This, in turn, has caused critical business cashflow issues over the course of the last 1.5 years and ongoing. This has caused several financial & business decisions to be severely altered. Failed to respect and report through well-understood chain of command and committed insubordination among staff. A couple examples include disclosing her suspicions of the financial ills of the company to staff while simultaneously telling a completely different story to the executives that the company "is in good shape." This happened repeatedly. We initiated termination of our engagement on July 17, 2016. Continued to attempt contact with staff & team after termination. Despite engagement termination, proceeded to log into our accounting system in May 1, 2017, resulting in a data systems breach. One / she may counter-argue that Mary's specialty is in the craft brewery business. My rebuttal to that is, aside from product type, our business similarly involves managing production time lines, acquiring, retaining & tracking inventory, retail and consumer-direct sales, the usual slate of tax considerations (sales & income), staff & tools overhead, CAPEX vs. OPEX, etc. In plain English, we sell products, too. Even so, at any time, Mary could have professionally served us in a fiduciary capacity and decided she either lacked interest or the ability to perform expected services. That never happened. Mary's "Rules for Success" can be found here: http://www.beveragebusinessbuilders.com/mary%E2%80%99s-ownership-rules-success In summary, they are: 1. Know who you are and where you want to go 2. Be good to your people 3. Strategic visioning is the most important thing you will do 4. This a 4 profit enterprise 5. Don't let me or anyone else talk you into something that isn't right. My suggestion: She should spend some quality time reflecting on her own list. Overall, unethical & unprofessional. Seek elsewhere for your accounting & financial needs.
