I took a side of chinotto and we dined on the terrace under the sun in warm weather and light refreshing breeze. I was a happy man! I'd rate this place 5 stars but will dock this place 1 star for a stupid comment one of the staff said to us who didn't want to prepare 2 sandwiches for us because apprently we weren't paying on the same bill. The Long Version: My husband and I stopped by Pâtisserie Jouri on the way home to Ottawa to pick up some pastries for my parents. It was one of two bakeries on our way back and was definitely the best bang for our buck. I got 3 pastries. They were $3.25 each and were gigantic. They were more than twice the size of pastries at other places. I got a raspberry almond croissant, an almond croissant and a pear and custard Danish. The great thing about getting my parents food is that they always offer to share it with us, so getting them food is like getting ourselves food. Haha. I had a small taste of each pastry and they were delicious. Very fresh and flakey. The pear and custard Danish was my favourite, but the others were good too. The croissants had a good amount of ground almond filling. There wasn't too much raspberry filling in the raspberry one, but that's ok because it kept it from being too sweet. Service was efficient. The decor is pretty with faux leather benches and funky light fixtures. Really nice place for a dessert date. There is free parking in front of the bakery, but it's just one row of parking and the street, which is very busy is behind you/in front of the bakery. Cakes, pastries, cookies, sandwiches, salads, pizza, bread, coffee and they also have Italian products where you could buy(cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, cold cuts, pantone ect). For Valentine, I had their cupcakes: chocolate, vanilla. The chocolate cupcake was dry. The bottom of the cake was sticking on the cupcake paper. They seem to have changed recipe of their chocolate cakes. The vanilla cupcake was better, although not soft, nor moist. The frosting tasted like shortening rather than buttercream.

You get a good size portion, it's fresh and sweet, what more would you want from a pie? The first pie I ever tried was the rockabrownie. It's a brownie with cream. Can't go wrong with that. My favorite is the mochamisu, tastes like a tiramisu, it's light and not very sweet. I've ordered this flavor as a whole pie many times and the family enjoys it (24 hour notice to order whole pie, and you can ask for something to be written on the pie) Next up is the rockafetti, a love/hate relationship with it. This is a vanilla cake with a slab of sweet buttercream frosting, almost reminds me of a vanilla dunkaroo. Having the frosting on it's own is sickly sweet, but when you pair it with the cake, it's heaven. I've tried the oreo cheese pie and for me it was really heavy, I didn't really taste anything oreo, it was just cream cheese. Apple crumble cheese with ice cream is so good, you get pieces of delicious cinnamon apple and pairs so well with the vanilla ice cream and the caramel drizzle just puts this over the top. I've also tried the raspberry fudge cheese, and while it was good, I found it to be on the bitter side, due to the raspberries. Coconut cream pie was very light, and not too sweet. Cadbury caramel brownie, I found had way too much cream for my liking and not nearly enough of mini egg pieces. Overall, I've enjoyed the majority of pies, really hoping that Rockaberry comes out with new flavors!
