Can't complain. Good selection of just about everything. Purchased the pre-made…read morehamburgers...which are JUST meat... no fillers or seasonings. Pre-seasoned lamb, chicken & beef available too. Interesting place. Never seen butchers cutting whole carcasses in front of me before. Was always hidden from view. Looks like it's also a school for butchers "to be". Young, Fun, Happy employees all cutting carcasses together... joking around.. poking fun at each other.. I like the environment. Will go back.

Nowadays these places (although some exist) have become more specialized and need to charge more money. This is due to the advent of mass grocery and Costco have taken over the lions share of the meat business. Offerings here are fresh cut (aged) meat. Loads of local bottled and canned products. A small selection of fresh dairy products and what I come for the cured saucisson. Last year I spent the month of June in France and developed a semi-addiction to cured saucisson. I'm not proud of it (hence my mom and doctor warn in moderation) but this is the best offering I have found in Quebec. Pork shop (available at your local IGA) does a fine version however it's just the bit more delicious here at Lawrence. Also purchased are bottles of St Leon maple syrup. $25 a big bottle is a bit steep but it makes a wonderful gift or delicious in the morning on your pancakes or toast. Being in the heart of the Plateau then can cater to those who are willing to pay a bit more. I believe the meat shop is connected to Lawrence restaurant a few doors down which does a dandy brunch.

We stopped for sandwiches at this boutique butcher shop. Rustic trendy decor with beautiful wood,…read moreexposed brick, open-case fridges, floor to ceiling glassed-in butchery, and a tiny eating counter with three barstools. No bathroom. We split the Philly steak sandwich with Angus beef and tender mushrooms, and some other veggies, served hot. The other was smoked turkey and pesto, with spicy peppers and eggplant served on crusty bread, served panini style. We asked for no cheese (personal preference). These sandwiches were next level! Worth every penny from this bougie place we wouldn't normally go to. Sandwich perfection and friendly service. We shared a Zam Cola which was better and less chemically than Coke. Kinda like Brio. Yummy. We will be back with family from the USA for this European style experience.

Hands down best steaks in town!…read more I always pick up steaks here just before I take off for camping. Nothing beats a fresh grilled steak in the wilderness. Gotta give it to them they really do have a great selection of steaks with amazing marbling. It's always so juicy and amazing. The cool part is that they have pre made food like chimichurri brochettes, bbq ribs and souvlakia for easy grilling. The pret a manger selection at the counter is packed with goodies like (shepherds pie, Cesar salad and onion soup) I noticed that they actually have beer and wine here and they are all Quebec local brands. I love that they keep it local good eats and good drinks.

Seriously, the best, thickest cuts of bacon I've ever seen, freshest lamb shanks ever, great made-on-the-premises sausages. If you are a carnivore or happily-content omnivore, you will have died and gone to heaven when you walk in here. Staff are super-friendly and helpful and the place is meticulously clean. Prices are also very, very reasonable given the quality of meat here. Every neighbourhood should be so lucky to have a great butcher shop like Le Viandal.

We're talkin' some seriously good steak here and at $6.50 for 10oz. we're talking some seriously cheap eats that turn out better than restaurant fair. I also purchased some onsite handmade sausage that looks just wonderfull. But since I was simply walking by and discovered this, from what I hear, Verdun institution I didn't have anything in mind. But the possibilities in this meatopolis are seemingly endless. I saw every possible cut of beef, veal, pork, venison, and delicious duck. They also have prepared meals and other tasty goodies for meat lovers. Seriously there is no hope for me now that I have a serious meat shop just around the corner (sorta). The service was great, helpful and friendly. Butchery is a dying art and anyone with a love of food should support their local butchers. Keep in mind that if you buy steak at your local chain store supper market is cheap quality, often very badly butchered and overpriced, while a butcher has a deeper appreciation and respect for meat. You don't have to eat offal to be a meat lover, enjoying a good quality steak is sufficient and reason enough to bypass the chain store and go support your local butcher, local fishmonger and local whatever. Make friends with the owner and you'll see the good stuff that comes from this relationship. It's like going to a bar, if you're a good tipper, by the end of the night, your drinks are free.
