I actually wish I could rate this place into the negatives. I recently just turned 21 and when I went to purchase my first bottle of Absolute vodka on my own I was embarrassed to say the least. I handed over my Identification which was then followed up with the question "What will you be mixing this with?" I then gave an awkward laugh and said "i'm not sure any suggestion?" the rude cashier answered back "Ok now we are going to need to see a second form of Identification since you don't even know what you are mixing it with".... I soon after returned to my car with the bottle a little disgusted but I soon after went back with my sister. My second visit was not smooth sailing at all. I grabbed 3 bottles of wine as I was celebrating my friends birthday (don't worry bottle buys she's 22!!) that next following day. My sister came in with me to keep me company... when I got up to the registar I put the bottles down on the counter and the cashier started to ring me up (my sister at this point was 5 feet behind me but then came up to stand next to me to tell me a funny joke) the cashier than asked for her identification and my sister answered with "I do not have it" the cashier than took away all 3 of my bottles of nice white wine and goes "I can't make the sale please exit the store" I then had had enough at this point and I raised my voice "Why can't you make the sale? I am clearly 21 I just showed you my id." she answers "she approached the counter and shouldn't have so I can't" my sister was then throwing attitude and my eyes were rolling up to heaven. The cashier then goes (with attitude like no other) to my sister and I "Just stay in your car the next time it's as simply as that". HA well let me tell you did my sister and I make a scene coming out of that store. (it was a classy scene) Safe to say I never want to see these people ever again RUDE AS HECK!! OH and you are all for the "savings" meanwhile I went to the liquor store down the block and saved maybe a quarter (yes that's 25 cents) on the same exact bottle. So thank you bottle buys for the worst two legal experiences I have ever had. You just lost yourself an almost valuable customer, congratulations! read more

Today (about 15 mins ago, August 12, 2016) I went to go purchase 2 bottles of wine and my ID did not scan. I am from NJ and yes I do look young for my age (I'm 24), however they stated the barcode on my license did not scan and thus, I could not make my purchase. I felt insulted because although I may not look 24, I am 24 and a medical student. I am even surprised that they had no other way to check my ID, like manually inserting the number that's on my license. I am quite angry by the way they handled it and I live in this area. I do believe my ID scanned and they still did not believe I was 24. Is there a way to "legitimize" the fact that I am 24? If it is true that the machines could not scan my ID, please replace the machines so that I am not embarrassed again at your establishment. I would truly appreciate that. Thank you. Also the customer service is terrible. I was not happy by the interaction as I overheard cashiers saying I could be lying. I would not give a star I had the option not to. Side note: I like how I will be responsible for someone's life one day but can not buy two bottles of wine. read more

Prices exceptionally well store is very very clean but one negative I have to say is they do not always have the same inventory.... so if you really like a type of wine next time you go they may not have it! read more

Went here with my friend to get some wine for our friends birthday celebration. My friend wanted to find out about a wine she tried at a restaurant so she asked a staff member and he was really rude. First off, she did not know how to pronounce it (GOD FORBID) and that raised all sorts of hell. A customer entered our conversation to correct her in a snobby way. Then the staff member took us to the wine we were trying to find more about, and as she was asking him questions about it, he began to roll his eyes and just have this terrible attitude. We saw him being really nice to the rich, snobby, uppity customers but to us, he was downright rude. The whole point is to ask and learn about wine just like he had to learn. So my friend told him you don't need to roll your eyes at me, I am just trying to learn, and he laughed. -_- So then we went to pay for the bottles we picked out, and before the checkout even began, she stared me down and gave me attitude and I was being so nice! She would not accept my id! I have the highest form of id in the U.S and I am way beyond the legal age to drink. So then we begin to get into it and by law they are supposed to accept it. I could have called the police and made a big deal about it, but instead I chose to report them because I didn't want my night ruined. Here at bottle buys they want to ONLY cater to Rich, Snobby White folk. Hate to say it, but my friend is white and she said the same thing! I refuse to give my money to where I am not welcome! Had a great experience at Bottlebuys! My husband and I were impressed with their wide selection, and they even had free wine and liquor tastings. Very cool! We each bought something we tasted, and had no issues with the staff or taste testing representatives. Except the girl behind the counter was shamelessly hardcore flirting with my husband but not a huge deal. :) Be sure to get the Bottlebuys card because it makes a difference. I saved $11 on a really nice red blend of wine! read more

Call me a Napa wine snob, but this was a warehouse full of really cheap wine. There was nothing from California that was worth buying. I admit to being ignorant on French wines, but the bottle we bought to try didn't make it home intact as the clerk just dropped it into a cheap plastic bag and the bottle broke on the way home. read more

I'm just a regular Joe when it comes to wine and whatnot, but this is definitely one of my favorite places to go. I live in Manhattan but go out to Long Island several times a month. If I know I'll need a bottle for a future occassion - housewarming, birthday, picnic, whatever - I'll plan ahead and pick up a bottle at Bottlebuys when I'm in the area rather than any place in Manhattan. I know it's not so convenient to lug a bottle all the way from Glen Head into the city, but hey, the price discounts are worth it. For example, one of my staple gifts is a nice bottle of Veuve Cliquot. In Manhattan, I'm looking at at least $50. Bottlebuys sells it for $37. Nice. The store itself is large and spacious, but not overwhelming, clean, neat, and the staff members are knowledgable and helpful. They have a wide variety of wines, spirits, liquors, etc. to fit any budget. It's a good place to check out if you get the chance. read more
