They have all the hard-to-find brands and varieties but most people don't understand how volitile this type of business can be. Money, booze, cigars... all targets for bad actors. They have found a system that works for them so they can stay in business for us. Yes, the layout is a bit confusing because they have so much in such a small space but if you are a regular you figure it out fairly quickly. As a neighbor, I wish they would clean up the landscaping a bit and upscale their signage but otherwise it looks pretty good these days. That said, Total Wine is moving in 1.5 miles down the road in October. read more

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Clean and organized store. Great selection! Easy to get to and return home! A++++++++

I enjoy having new experiences with trying new beers and the Bottle Rack is available in my neighborhood. They have a vast selection of beers to check out. Not just beers but they also have a great selection of liquor to choose from! Why three stars, they're so crammed with glass bottles that it's impossible to walk freely and have signs on no hoodies, large bags or purses. Which makes me think of the dangers of even shopping there! read more

Please save your time and money and take your business to walmart liquors across the street or publix liquors down the road. Ive never met a more rude owner/staff, with ridiculous rules like "no purses". And im from Newark im shocked they've managed to stay in business this long with this many reviews on the horrible customer service. Their selection is ok, nothing thats worth enduring the rude employees. I was so happy when walmart + publix added the liquor store extensions! read more

Terrible, terrible customer service. So unfriendly. Usually rude. The no purse thing, it's annoying but I get it. But at least be nice... friendliness goes a long way, people. Good selection, but we only go here when we have to because we have been here a few times and every time they have been unfriendly or outright rude. To Scott K. who had a good experience, yay you! I wish we all felt the same. read more

This store is large with a good variety & is under a mile from my house but I'd gladly drive further to ANY other store. There is no website or phone number to find out if they carry something. In addition, the employees are consistently unfriendly & sometimes quite rude. Also, there is a sign on the door that they don't allow purses or goodies. I didn't see it & a guy screamed at me as if I'd stolen something before I was even all the way through the door. Another argued with me when I asked if they carried something. He insisted it didn't exist & when I told him I'd previously bought it at a nearby store, he called me a liar & asked me to leave. read more

This store is on my way home, so i stop by from time to time. It's tight in there, every available spot is filled with liquor. Their volume buying is what makes their prices better than most booze outposts. Their selection of firewater is vast and not your usual suspects. Of course they have all the favorites, but it's their selection of local booze and beer that draws me in. I can get my sunshine moonshine from here instead of driving to Ybor, for local made rotgut. I don't need help in a liquor store so customer service isn't a priority for me, just ring it up and I'm gone. I'll keep coming back for their great selection of random local breweries and distilleries. Do yourself a favor and just swing by and check out the prices. read more

Short and simple. One star because that is the least amount that I can give. Great selection of import/craft beer, but the prices were absolutely ridiculous. Be sure to check the use by/born on dates. They're selling Christmas been in September, which makes me think that they are quite aged. During checkout, the clerk broke one of my beers while bagging. As he tried to put the foaming beer back in to the container and send me on my way, I said, "I'll just go grab another...". I came back with the single replacement and he made me go back to get the full 6 pack. Then he had to call his boss to let them know that he broke a beer. Trust much? While waiting for the whole ordeal to transpire, I watched the same employee tell a young couple walking in the door to leave because the woman walked in with a purse. They didn't come back, and I can't say that I blame them. As a result, I won't be back. I've read other reviews here on Yelp, and they have been solidly bad for the past five years. The fact that they are still in business makes me think that they are just a money laundering front. read more

Bottle Rack - GTFO! - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Tampa, Florida

The owner is one of the rudest person in there he makes you feel like he's doing you a favor walked in by four bottles of wine plus a bottle of tequila and then I asked him if he had crown royal. He was wearing a crown royal T-shirt and he was very rude to me told me he didn't didn't sell it but the way he talk to me was very condescending to a voice plus I wanted some cigars. He wouldn't allow us to go in. He was telling me what to get instead of myself picking. I will never step another foot there I usually spend about $200 a week. I will never spend a penny on a recommend anybody to go there. He is the rudest person in the world no Customer Sevice at all read more

I have now visited this place twice. If you are searching for that hard to find alcohol then this place may have it. I have a knack for being in the mood for that seasonal beer that isn't currently in season. These guys have an impressive selection for a local store. The three stars is because the do have a bit of a don't care if you buy here or not atmosphere. Two big signs on the front doors say no purses or bags allowed in the store. I assume they have had some inventory walk out the door unpaid for so I get it but it just comes across a little aggressive. The other issue I've had is that their credit card machine seems to have been down both times I was visiting. Both times it took 20 minutes plus to get it fixed. So overall I will probably go back to Publix liquor store across the street unless I have to have that hard to find beer. read more

I don't understand all the bad reviews here... yes, so they don't let you take a pack or a large purse in? Well, they have probably had huge problems with shoplifting. If it is that big an issue, shop somewhere else... They have a great selection, prices are reasonable, and everytime I have been there... staff was smiling and friendly. read more

Rude AF! If I could give this place less than one star, I would. No one should patronize this establishment. I just left there. Upon entering, I asked two men in black masks standing around (twice), if they worked there because I needed assistance buying an item in a locked case. Both men said no (although one was behind the register and the other was just standing at the front of an aisle?). Completely rude, unhelpful, and not friendly at all. And to make matters worse, the actual employee then walked up to me and told me that no "bags" were allowed in the store. This means that my $540 coach purse could not be brought in the store so I left. No purse no money, wtf? Never will I patronize this place... ever! read more

Absolutely terrible, I was kicked out for carrying my purse. They do have a sign that says "no purses or bags" however, that is ridiculous considering my wallet is in my purse and I'm not about to leave it in the car. Will never support this business If they are worried about shoplifting then maybe they should invest in a better security system. Fun. Thing no signs for masks, but yeah don't bring your money in !! I'll take my money elsewhere read more

Loved the selection and received great help . The prices are also very good . The store owner helped with really good recommendations .

What I find a odd about this liquor store is the guy out front acting like a bouncer, along with the sign on the door announcing no bags of any kind are allowed inside. First impressions are important, and this store is rather lacking with the customer-experience vibe. Service is often slow, as I have waited for several minutes to pay more than once. But we still shop here when we're in the area. This liquor store has a warehouse-type feel with an enormous selection organized by liquor type. They even have special pricing on some items. Regular prices are decent, and I really love the variety here. read more

First time in and my wife wasn't allowed to bring her purse. Really? I guess they didn't want our business. We will never be back.

Attention Citrus Park / Carrollwood shoppers.... there is a new liquor store in town, and it's definitely worth checking out on your next shopping trip along Gunn Highway! Bottle Rack has opened in the former Sonny's BBQ restaurant building across the street from the Super Wal-Mart along Gunn Highway at the corner of Anderson Road. Bottle Rack used to be located elsewhere in Carrollwood, but moved into this location a while back. Bottle Rack is still settling into the former barbeque restaurant, so expect to see workers stocking bottles onto the shelves. A section of the store is still hidden behind a sheet of plastic, and I suspect that this is being converted into a storeroom. But no matter as you'll find plenty on the shelves to keep you busy. As you walk through the doors, the area to your right is rows and rows of liquor bottles. Every conceivable type, brand, size, and color of label is stocked on their shelves. To the left are the rows of wine, and though the selection is not as robust as other Bay area wine shops, you'll be hard-pressed not to find a bottle of vino to go with dinner. Across the back wall of the Bottle Rack store are the shelves of beer - all the well-known big brands as well as dozens and dozens of craft beers. I like the fact that in addition to buying pre-packaged 6-packs of many different beers, you can also buy individual bottles and build-your-own sampler 6-packs. Go ahead and mix up Dogfish Head, Harpoon, CCB, Shock Top, Magic Hat, and Leinenkugel. In the front of the store you'll find their humidor with a nice selection of cigars, and behind the counter are all of their airplane mini bottles. Prices seem reasonable, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. read more

I don't think I've ever encountered worse customer service in a store. The whole "can't bring a purse in" is ridiculous. I walked in with a tiny purse, slightly larger than a large wallet and was immediately screamed at - screamed, mind you - You can't come in here with that! I was so taken aback, I looked around thinking this employee was talking to someone else, not me. Yes, shoplifting is a problem. But the rest of the world deals with it with vigilant employees that walk around the establishment and keep an eye on things. While I'm on the subject of employees, how about also hiring people who engage with customers and actually say hello -- staring with the store manager, who is incredibly rude. Too many decent places to spend my money to ever set foot in this place again. read more

Do you like your money? Do you like paying fair prices for goods and services? The. This is not the place for you. If you understand cost margins and alcohol distribution at all then you know this place is robbing people. Selection is decent at best and probably the most overpriced in Tampa. read more

When walking around the easy-to-navigate isles, it's hard to imagine it was once a Sonny's BBQ restaurant. There are virtually no remnants of it at all. I was expecting to smell of smoked hickory, but much to my dismay it did not. What it did have was a pretty impressive selection of spirits, and most of the prices are on point too. I even saw a few items that are new to me. For example, bulk bottles of Maker's Mark, Bullet Rye and a Florida Rum called Wicked Dolphin. C'mon now, that is hilarious. PROS Prices are great, and comparable to Luken's with some items cheaper and other more expensive. Selection is good on all sides, but lacks a bit with beer. Excellent looking humidor stocked with stogies. CONS Humidor is kept locked, and if the guy at the register is busy, you're not getting in. Lacking on Florida brews!! If you like to get tipsy, I think this place is worth a shot. I will probably be heading back to pick up a bottle of Scotch as a Christmas gift to someone, so maybe I will actually be able to get into the humidor next time. read more

| Bottle Rack Lacks | There are tons of options when it comes to the liquor available for purchase. The aisles are well stocked and are multi-leveled. That's not where they lack. The improvement is needed in their customer service. I entered the store but was in a rush so I didn't notice the "No Purse, No Bags, No Exceptions" sign. So once I walked through the doors the cashier instantly stopped me and said "Ma'am, no purses." Every business has their own way of dealing with theft and loss prevention, so I get it, but that's not exactly inviting. I didn't have time to go put it back in my car so he allowed me to place it up front and told me he would watch it. Seconds later as I was searching for my choice I saw him in the aisles...not watching my purse. My next qualm is the organization...or lack thereof. The is no clear signage to where things are located so it took me more time to find what I needed. Also I'm not much of a drinker so I'm not used to buying alcohol but a quick comparative search shows they charge a bit more than other places. I won't say I wouldn't shop here again, but it would only be if I needed to because it's the closest choice in the area. read more

They have a no purses policy and expect you to leave your purse with the cashier. If he can't be expected to make sure someone doesn't steal alcohol, how am I supposed to trust him with my personal belongings? I will never be returning here. read more

Walked in this evening and a very nice young man informed me that purses are not allowed!! My husband and my response was "no purses - no purchases". Blanton's is normally a bourbon that retails for $60-$70. The secondary market is $100. This guy is a complete clown who price gauges his customers. The 2 people I've encountered at the counter seemed pleasant and have a decent amount of knowledge for recommendations (not really on cigar recommendations). However, they don't have a great selection of refrigerated white wines, roses, or champagne even though there was an empty cooler/fridge that was on. Also they have a weird rule about how you must leave your purse or bag in the front. I get that people aren't always honest, but leaving your purse anywhere as a woman is a no go. read more

Went in today to buy a bottle of Crown Royal peach. After searching for 10 minutes I saw the box that said "please see cashier for assistance". I asked if they had any, I was told they did have some but they already sold the quota allowed to sell for his shift and I could come back in the morning. Who in the world denies a sale? I was told by the other liquor store (where I purchased the item I was searching for) that the owners make up these rules to save the product for their regulars/friends. So my money isn't what? Good enough for you? Even though this liquor store is closer to my house I will patronize a store further away from now on. read more

If I could post 0 stars I would. First time visiting and the owner ran up on me at the door for having my purse. I can understand big backpacks and purses but hell my purse is so small I can only carry my license, debit, and my thoughts. I understand having policies, but it's all in how you say things!! As a supervisor in customer service, this is not how you treat customers. Take y'all money elsewhere. It's not worth it! read more

Lots and lots of wine choices. Beer and liquor too. Staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable.

"Just came to this liquor store at 6101 Gunn Hwy at the crossing of Henderson in Tampa. So I walked in with my purse while talking on the phone with my daughter. The guy stopped me and said you cannot bring in your purse, it is on both sides of the door. I was confused & ask how do I shop without my purse, so he started arguing with me saying it is ass holes like you why I have this rule & I am not changing it. He kept repeating " am not changing it over & over while we were were just trying to talk. After we paid for 3 bottles of liquor, his attitude got to my husband so I ask to return the goods. He refused and threatened to throw us out & call the cops. FB I need your help to shut this place down because no law abiding good customer deserve to be treated this way." Eagle Rare at $59.99? Blanton's at $89.99? I get these are hard to find items, but these prices are TWICE what you can find these bottles at other retailers. Price gouging at its finest. Most bottles of other spirits are $15-30 above MSRP. Don't even bother. read more

As a weekly wine buyer, I thought instead of ABC, where I usually shop, I would try Bottle Rack. It is closer to my house and was looking to restock my wine fridge. As I entered the store - 10:30am on a a Thursday, I saw a sign on the front door stating no purses or bags allowed. I proceeded in, with my purse, I couldn't imagine that this was a real policy and WOW I was wrong. The guy at the front desk immediately told me purses and bags are not allowed and that is was clearly marked on the front door With that being said I left, and took the $$$ sale with me Too bad - off to Costco read more

As soon as I walked in the door, I was made to feel like a criminal for carrying my purse inside. I should have walked out, but I ended up buying beer here. They have a really good selection, but have little rules for purchasing rare beer, which is annoying. The staff is rude and unhelpful. They could pretty much offer my favorite beer for half the price and I still wouldn't be back. The way you treat paying customers matters. I honestly don't know how they're still in business. read more

Historically I have shopped here many times. After my experience today I will never return. They have marked up the prices on all of the mid to top shelf bourbon. I inquired to see if they were under new management or owners and they are not. Here are some examples. While this place has a good selection and decent prices, I can no longer recommend them at all, because customer service is so terrible. The owner is a total a-hole to both customers and his staff, and he is completely paranoid about people stealing from him. You can't even go into the cigar humidor, unless the cashier walks in and stays with you, so if there's other people in the store, you just have to wait forever. My wife was told she couldn't come in with her purse because "no bags are allowed". I keep giving them chance after chance because I live so close, but no longer. I've tried to go by there in the afternoon a couple times this month, including today, only to find a piece of cardboard on the door, saying that they will be back shortly. I have no idea how this guy stays in business. Don't even try to go there, you'll just be treated like crap even if the place happens to be open during the stated business hours. read more
