Biscuits / gravy

Ate here for a couple of meals while I was in Portland recently. Part of the Hotel Rose by Stay Pineapple this restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual environment. It also has a bar which was a plus for me with beers on tap and a variety of basic cocktails and liquor. Was dranw to coming here the first night as the hotel kicks in a free drink for each person in your group. Wasnt super hungry but had the B-K fries, a veggie burger and a beer which were both good ( An Eclpitic Porter is always nice) and some amazingly seasoned fries with aioli. On another day decided to have breakfast here and found this to very decent. Ordered a breakfast burrito and others in my group the sausgae and biscuits and feench toast plates which they found decent. The Burrito was filling but needed a but more heat ( they did offer a tapatio which gave it that zip) In any case friendly service and pretty decent food. I would say the B+K fries are a must! Give it a go!

Located in the Hotel Rose. We came for late night drinks. It doesn't open too late, so make sure you look at the hours. We were told they were open in the morning for breakfast but whenever we went down they were closed. So not really sure. The cocktails are pretty well made. We've gotten variety from just wine, beer to old fashion, whiskey sour and some speciality cocktails like the naked experience. Definitely short staff though! Usually just one taking a lot of orders. Slow at times. Sometimes another would help, but definitely short staff.

Happy hour service: terrible. We sat at our table and was confused if we were supposed to order at the bar or at the table since there was no serve in sight or talked to us for a bit. He finally put menus down when we were at the bar. The guy saw our coasters and without even saying hi, immediately rattled off the limitations of the orders. I asked if mocktails were included, and was just given a shrug and "sure." Maybe a pet peeve of mine, but I really don't like those answers. My boyfriend asked what his favorite beer was out of the rotating drafts and was given the answer, "I don't know, I don't drink." You're a bartender! I understand if folks don't drink, but that's not a good answer. You could answer, "I don't drink but I know x and y are popular" or something along those lines. Then asked my boyfriend, "I'm gonna need to see some ID, bud." And it wasn't in a teasing or joking tone. Pretty rude, honestly. We definitely didn't order food. Morning service: two younger server managing the coffee stand was so much better. They were nice and attentive. They heard us talking about the market and they give us some suggestions and we chatted about Seattle and Portland.

Several of us stopped in for drinks and dinner one weeknight and the place was pretty much dead, but they had a full staff and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The venue is decorated very nicely, very clean restrooms and they are unique with their menu offerings. It's basically pub food with a couple of entrées tossed in the mix. Their wings are grilled and are VERY tasty! The spicy style use some sort of home made or unique sauce, but the wings are also spiced prior to cooking and the combo of flavors really comes together nicely! Their spicy chicken sandwich was excellent! Very tender and hand-breaded, freshly made... definitely an incredibly good sandwich! Overall, definitely suggest stopping in here! It's in an interestingly dated hotel, but don't judge it based on the looks from the outside, stop in and try them out... there's a reason the reviews are so good here!!

The yelp community said yes, my feeling was "eh". The service was very nice and friendly. The ambiance was okay- nothing really to look at and several homeless just makes you feel sad. The grilled wings were really good and loved the blue cheese and buffalo style sauce. Enjoyed the beer but not a lot of great options. Fine for a pass by but I would not return- just not special or unique enough if my opinion. Moved on to the Library by PSU. to give that a try!

Great place, but you can't be in a hurry. I think yhey were shoet staffed. The place is nicely decorated with lots of seating & a large bar. The service people were friendly. I had the Chorizo Omelet, it was delicious & I'm glad they used red potatoes!

Bistro Burger and Fries

The Bistro Burger was a great burger, when you can get messy with your burger you know it's tasty. We ended up venturing about 45 minutes before closing but everyone was still welcoming and we did not feel rushed to order and eat. It's a very clean and easy place to have a late drink especially if you're staying at Hotel Rose/ Stay Pineapple.

I was a little disappointed by the dinner menu. There was not a lot of variety and everything was overpriced. I was hoping for a fresh burger patty since it cost $19, but it tasted frozen. Service was ok

I really enjoy this place. They have a lot of different alcohol at the bar and the drinks I've had here were great. I do love the food as well. Went here for Valentine's Day and they only had 1 bartender and 1 server. The food took longer than it normally would but I still enjoyed the holiday.

Conveniently located in our hotel lobby is Bottle +Kitchen. With two teens in tow, they were not down for morning brekkie adventure through Portland. We arrived early, which got us a great window seat with the view of the waterfront. We ordered: salmon Benedict on a poutine cake & buttermilk pancakes. The salmon Benedict was delicious and the poutine cake added a spin to this classic dish. My son loved his pancakes, especially since the server was nice enough to bring him chocolate syrup instead of maple syrup. Delicious breakfast with great service! I'll be back for happy hour and drinks later!

You can absolutely smell the fish and vinegar as soon as you walk through the door, which I think gives the place a very homey pub feel. I ordered a spiked peach Arnold Palmer, which I enjoyed (and it was pleasantly strong) and a glass of the house white, which was good for the price. Our server was very fast and attentive. To eat I got the tomato soup with a grilled cheese, which was absolutely fantastic. The soup was so creamy and flavorful, and I cannot imagine a better meal after spending all day walking outside in the rain. The fries were super crispy and I liked the batter. My partner and I shared some of their breadsticks, which were deliciously baked (fresh!) and came with a super refreshing basil crema and a nice tomato-y dip. Wonderful all. My partner ordered fish and chips, and was surprised to find that it is one large fillet of fish, not multiple pieces like you would typically expect. He said the fish was fine, but a little tough. Overall, a wonderful experience. I definitely hope to return. I highly recommend this place as a refuge during the cold winter months!

Their tap list is extensive but also includes non-standard options. We love to see non-alcoholic beers as well as gluten free beer, cider, cocktails, and other libations. The food menu is great too. There are several items that either come gluten free or can be modified to be. The servers are knowledgeable about the ingredients of the menu items and I feel confident and safe eating here when gluten free is a need for me. They can get pretty crowded, but have several seating options. It was nice out today so outdoor seating was even possible, though it looked like there was a wait. There are tvs in several spots that showcase local sports when possible. There is a kids area and you can sit close while the kids play. Everyone we come in contact with here from servers to hosts are super friendly and welcoming. The food is pretty good. This time around, we shared the garlic Parmesan fries and the chicken wings (buffalo and honey gojuchang sauces). The wings were smoked and moist with good flavor. The fries were alright. More of the aioli would have helped so maybe request extra sauce or get some on the side. The dessert menu has some non-traditional offerings. The highlight for me was the cheesecake. I was assured by a server one time that the chef creates a gluten free cheesecake that rotates on the seasonal dessert menu. The current offering is tiramisu. The coffee chocolate sauce is good and I appreciated the bonus chocolate chip biscotti. The actual cheesecake is decent and I would be excited to try other flavors in the future.

One of my biggest concerns was dining with dairy-free and gluten-free restrictions. I asked whether there was anything on the menu that could accommodate both without substitutions, because with higher-end dishes, removing key components often leaves you with a plate that feels incomplete and not as thoughtfully prepared as intended. I was told that essentially every item on the menu contained one or the other, or both, which was frustrating and made it very difficult to order comfortably. Unfortunately, the service issues started before we were even seated. When we arrived, the hostess initially ignored us and had us walking around trying to figure out where to go for help, only for us to end up back where we started. When she finally acknowledged us, she rudely told us to stand against the wall until she was ready. It set an unwelcoming tone right away. Our server was also very cold and unfriendly throughout the meal. When I pulled out my chair to sit down, I found a bunch of crumbs on it that I had to clean off myself, right in front of the server. The plate already set in front of my seat, with the napkin on it, also had crumbs on it, which made the table setting feel careless and unclean from the start. Then when our wine arrived, the service got even sloppier. On the second pour, after originally pouring us each the correct wine, our server mixed up the bottles and topped off our glasses with each other's wine. It was a noticeable mistake and frustrating because the wines were already in our glasses and then ended up mixed together. For a restaurant that charges premium prices, I expected much better hospitality, cleanliness, and attention to detail. The view is lovely, but unfortunately the overall experience did not live up to the standard the restaurant presents.

While they weren't as crispy as I would've wanted - I would say while some parts were, most of it was on the softer side - I did think that they were seasoned excellently. They also paired quite well with the mayo-based sauces we received. Moving onto the burger, I really enjoyed this. When I've had tofu on a burger in the past - it's usually been in smaller pieces - so getting such a massive piece that sticks out on either end of the burger was really nice. In addition, the breading was good - while not super-present. I quite liked the fact that it was very lightly breaded - meaning the huge patty was like 95% tofu - leaving the tofu to stand on its own as the majority of the bite. The buns were alright - I'm not big into vegan buns - but I didn't mind these The mustard sauce was also pretty good I will say, although I did order the Mr. Onion burger so I should've known what I was getting myself into, but there were just way too many onions on this burger. It was to the point where they absolutely dominated the taste of my first bite. I had to remove a lot of them from the bottom of the burger to actually make this edible. For the price, it is a bit expensive - but it's also quite filling so I didn't mind it. I also have to mention - because my burger was late, as a gift they brought out a full set of pastries/cookies in a box. This was incredibly surprising and something I've never seen another restaurant do. Major props for that
