We were not disappointed. We started with calamari and the cheese plate. The calamari order with small but the cheese plate was huge and very good. My husband had the Cobb salad and I had the flat iron steak both were excellent. The look and vibe of the place is nice and the service was fast and very friendly. It was nice we sat by the window and we can watch the city outside and the variety of people going by. I would suggest it if you're in town. read more

My wife and I stopped in here for a date night after having seen the place during one of the waterfront political rallies. We were surprised to find the place is associated with the Pineapple hotel chain, which we both like quite a bit from stays in other cities. The mood was very chill. Everything was very tidy, but not stuffy. We arrived a bit early by our dinner standards, and were greeted and seated promptly. We had drinks to start. I think my wife had a Lumberjack, and I had a Vaporizer. She said the Lumberjack was good, and she doesn't drink fernet very often so that's a good sign. For food I had the pork ribs, and my wife had the seared tofu. The sides were my favorite part of my meal, and my wife enjoyed her tofu. She doesn't normally like tofu as a main dish, however it had great texture and made her glad we chose to eat here. I'm still curious where they source their tofu as I can't get that texture at home. We rounded out the meal with one more round of drinks (I asked for an Old Fashioned this time and it was solid), and everything went very smoothly. Our server (Britt I think) kept things moving and was very on the spot when we needed something, but wasn't in our face constantly while we were eating which was nice. The BBQ Meatball sandwich was average, I did appreciate the solo meatball on the plate; the fries were a little too thin for my liking. The three taco platter didn't look that appetizing. The Daily flatbread was above average, seems to be the one to order. Our Sunday server was fast and friendly. A few more tries might warrant a star upgrade. Stopped in for breakfast since the adjacent hotel I was staying at provided a discount. I ordered the biscuit sandwich minus the bacon. The jalapeño biscuit was delicious (but not for those that don't like spicy foods.) The crispy potatoes that came with it weren't anything special but I still think it was a good choice overall. We checked Bottle & Kitchen out for happy hour while staying at the Hotel Rose. We sat in the back in a light-filled room overlooking the street and park and it was great people watching. For happy hour, I got the deviled eggs and a smoked salmon flatbread. Friends also got the deviled eggs and the duck wings. We all ordered cocktails. My cocktail was good - I got the pineapple express which was made of Buffalo Trace, Caramelized Pineapple Puree, Amareno Cherries, Whiskey Bitters, Club Soda. It was very good- not too boozy, but tasty and the Amareno Cherries were an outstanding touch. I also got breakfast to go here - an omelette with home fries and toast - and it was great. At $14 it should be great though :) Happy hour service was good, though they forgot 2 items and had to go back to the kitchen to put them in again. read more

Well. The food is fine and the service is good. But a few of the apps on the happy hour, while no overprotective card are for sure a bit lacking. Oyster shooters. Hmm smeller than my thumbnail. Of course nothing wrong with a smaller oyster but these are just about 1/4 of a bite. And maybe we'd like to know that before paying the happy hour price of $ 2.00 per tiny tiny oyster. Went there on a day trip from Seattle. The restaurant is attached to a hotel, so it was kind of hard to find. But I got the bison burger and my husband got a kitchen burger. I loved my bison burger. It had grilled onions, white cheddar cheese and comes with string fries. It was very good and filling! What made us really enjoy was the grilled bacon oysters. Agh so good and unexpected. Honestly, meh. The service was great. Our server was very attentive and personable. However the food was like I was eating at Applebee's. We started off with artichoke and crab dip which was more cream cheese than anything (although quick to get out, which was nice). My husband had the Cobb salad that was mediocre. I heard that Bottle + Kitchen opened recently at the Hotel Rose so we decided to stop by during our PDX trip as we had some time to kill before our Portland Spirit River Cruise (just a few blocks away). The design of the place is really rad. It's really inviting. We sat at the bar and ordered some beer, craft cocktails, flatbread and fries. Their fries were pretty delicious (shoestring!) and the flatbread was surprisingly delicious! I was a little weary about a sausage pizza with celery leaves as one of the ingredients but it worked...well! The craft cocktails here are amazing. The Pineapple Express was delicious and I highly recommend it. Mary, our bartender, was awesome! They weren't busy so she chatted with us the entire time about stuff to do in PDX. This restaurant inside the Hotel Rose has neat decorations. We went here for a late dinner and got the Olympia oysters, shrimp and grits, tachos, and fish and chips. My favorite part of the meal was definitely the shoestring parmesan fries. They were so skinny and packed full of flavor. The tachos were decent and oysters were tiny (Olympia oysters) but good. The fish was kind of soggy, and the shrimp and grits was fairly plain. For drinks, we had the Kentucky Mule, La Bonita, and French Slip. Service was good, and it would be 5 stars if it weren't for the shrimp and grits and fish. read more

Poor service. Restaurants with bangin eats are not hard to come by in the PNW. Service is what sets you apart. Atmosphere and vibe are crucial elements as well and we feel Bottle + Kitchen could be a rare find if they just took service seriously. We were sat and then waited 15 minutes to order our drinks. We timed it, there's no exaggeration here. We went with the oysters, and the crab dip to start. The menu looked great, so we were planning on ordering a smorgasboard. However after waiting about 15-20 minutes between each drink & app, we decided to split an entree and get out. Our waiter only brought 1 set of silverware and we never got another. Meaning we had to share a napkin. We heard 3 other people have to ask to get their tab. Again, we enjoyed the food & drinks but the service is why we only rated this 3 stars. read more

Spoiler: It was the best burger I've had on this continent. Medium rare, staggeringly great bacon jam, and the au jus coming out of the burger was truly delicious as it mixed with the perfect fries. 4 stars in my book since we could just come down from our room to get some tasty drinks, coffee, dessert or a quick bite. The ambience is very warm and inviting with a pretty good size eating area. They have an awesome happy hour daily including weekends which gave me an opportunity to taste a lot of good stuff and decide what I would come back for. StayPineapple in general does a great job with branding everything with a cute pineapple which is so cute. The coffee is brewed with groundworks coffee and very tasty and bold. I had several items and my favorite was the wings. They were spicy and crispy, very meaty and delicious. Dessert fave was the pineapple bread pudding with caramel ice cream - so tasty. Full bar and great service. I would not come back for the bacon wrapped figs or the cheeseburger but would recommend the stuffed jalapeno with goat cheese and butternut squash (although you only get one for $3 HH) it is really good. French fries are always safe and they make them crispy and have a garlic parmesan sprinkling. read more

Went here yesterday for my friend's birthday brunch. We were able to make a reservation ahead of time which is really helpful. I took an uber there from my house so parking wasn't an issue. There is a few spots across the street from the entrance and in front. On Saturday morning there was plenty of spaces. I walked in and found my friends sitting at a table by the window. It was really nice and clean in the restaurant. The decor was also really pretty and simple. I sat down and the nice waiter came over and got our beverages. I ordered a hot decaf tea with honey. The tea was very yummy. We waited for a bit for more people to arrive. When they did we ordered food. I ordered the Eggs Florentine. A bit later our food came out. My first half of the Eggs Florentine was okay the egg was over poached but at-least a bit of runny texture. The second was completely overcooked. It was basically a hard boiled egg. I mentioned it at the table and several other ladies mentioned the same thing about their variety of eggs Benedict as well. When the waiter came over I showed him my egg and he offered to either have it remade or take it off the bill. At this point I honestly had lost my appetite. I opted to take it off my bill. I ended up paying for my friend and my tea and still tipped over 20 percent. This is because his service was professional and friendly. I would go back again but only under the promise that my eggs can be made appropriately. I will be honest I don't know how to poach an egg so that is why I go to restaurants so I can pay someone to show me how it is done. read more

Guess what! My date is wrapped in baecon!! ^Potential pick-up line for Bottle+Kitchen, which features BACON WRAPPED DATES ($1/ea HH or $2 regular menu). No, it's not single people wearing bacon meat dresses a la Lady Gaga, but the bite-sized app is as tasty as it sounds (as is the case with bacon wrapped anything). The crispy bacon is sprinkled in coarse sea salt and chorizo, the savory contrasting intriguingly with the soft, naturally sweet and slightly tangy medjool date. We also shared the HOUSE SALAD ($4 HH), which turned out impressively fresh with crisp mixed greens, a flair of radishes and endives, accented by a tart lemon vinaigrette. Actually, I was eyeing the burger (nearly half price at $8 on the happy hour menu), but when in Portland stomach space must be conserved with vigilance. The STUFFED PAQUILLO PEPPER ($14) would not be sufficient for any more than a small appetite. It consists of three small stuffed peppers with a small pile of chopped veggies, centered on a large flat plate--aesthetic and almost abstract presentation, at the expense of food portion. Taste-wise, it was my favorite dish here, as I found it the most refined and required attention to detail in deboning and shredding the short rib then stuffing it into the delicate pepper skin. Note that this is paquillo pepper, which is paper-thin unlike clunky bell peppers. The resulting texture composition is something analogous to popping boba (or caviar, for the cultured audience). The soft and savory of the braised short rib and manchego contrasted interestingly with the refreshing crunch of jicama and cucumber, though the espagnole sauce didn't blend perfectly with the latter. Overall, I enjoyed the sophisticated nuances of this dish. The DUCK SUGO ($16) with tagliatelle, wild mushrooms, and herbs had flavors of Asian fusion. I expect tagliatelle to be bold with fiery marinara, so the light glaze sauce and tempered style was the opposite of my expectations. This dish was decently sized, and the duck portion was fairly generous. Although the integration of Asian ingredients reflected a creative take and the dish grows on you, it didn't click with me. The thick tagliatelle noodles just didn't seem to pair well with the zen-like flavor profile of simplicity from the steamed duck and mushrooms. The ambiance is fancy-casual: the loungey atrium and classy bar are impressive, but the large cartoon pineapples on the tables take away from the elegance. As a result, Botte & Kitchen has a comfortable unpretentious feel. The verdict? Nice place for good food. A bit pricey, especially for the portions, but thoughtful interpretation on food. The menu changes, but they seem to always have bacon-wrapped dates. I'm still amused at the thought of bacon-wrapped dates. read more

I have been eating here for a few years when it was H50 and loved it, they just went through a big remodel and now they're bottle + kitchen. The new menu is really great. My favorite app so far is the smoked jalapeno beef tartare and it's a great share with friends. The charcuterie plate and pot of pickles are good to share too! My boyfriend and I had tried Bottle + Kitchen twice during our stay at Hotel Rose: once during their happy hour and for dinner via room service. Happy Hour was..ok. We had ordered the duck wings, porcini fries, cheeseburger, and the cheese curds. The porcini fries ($3) were a hit between us both! It was probably the best porcini fries we ever had! So kudos to that. The cheese curds ($5) were okay. There were a good amount of fried breading missing. Their cheeseburger ($8) was pretty good. I wasn't too crazy about their 1000 Island Dressing they had in there. Made it a little salty overall, but not too salty. As far as the duck wings ($8), I would say I wasn't into it. Duck was cooked nice, wasn't dry at all. The sauce I had a problem with. I couldn't tell if it was the excessive amount of vinegar in it or my taste buds were off, but it just tasted odd to me. Now for dinner. We had ordered the steak frites and fish of the day which was grilled salmon with some veggies. The fish was ridiculously salty and the steak, even though we asked for medium rare, it came medium well. All in all, besides during HH, it's completely overpriced for what they're serving. read more

Came in on a Friday for dinner. The setting is nice and the staff were friendly - the place was about half full so no wait to be seated. Considering how empty it was, with a bartender, a helper, and a manager all running the floor I thought service was rather slow - took awhile to get orders in and drinks down. Ordered the fried chicken and waffles. Unfortunately the waffles came out partially burnt, the "jalapeno butter" was flavorless, and the "spiced rum honey" syrup just tasted odd. My friend had the ravioli and enjoyed his dish though, so maybe its just worth avoiding this particular menu item. I'd probably just stick to happy hour for this place going forward. read more
