This place has the best selection hands-down. Staff is friendly, dating store is relatively clean. There are plenty of food items although expensive are almost always worth the extra money for a taste of something nice. Big store, huge selection, primarily of wines but also beer and liquor. It also carries specialty foods, cheese, smoked meats, etc. The prices are good, especially with the membership card - get one! It's a shame to have to have to write about such extreme disappointment with customer service, when Bottle King has been a favorite of mine for years. THEEE clerks followed me to my car after my $150 purchase was made, mistakingly thinking I had not paid for the last item I ran back to get. Since everyone makes mistakes, & being vigilant for shoplifters is not a bad thing, I did not take issue until my receipt (evidence of payment) was grabbed from hand with no semblance of an apology from any of the 3, as a crowd embarrassingly watched in the parking lot. To top it off, I called soon after to discuss this & was given an " Assistant Manager", who also never apologized for his staff's behavior, much less thank me for the feedback. We always stop at Bottle King on our way to Vermont and when we camp upstate. I love the huge wine selection that is separated by region and varietal. They have a bunch of different cheeses, meats and pairings in the center of the store. I always have to buy their delicious blue cheese with the Carr crackers. I was looking for better prices on some wines I had tasted at wine tastings and came across BK. I've been back several times in the past two weeks. I've found some great buys on New Zealand and Chilean pinot noirs such as Opawa, Goldwater, Ritual, and Leyda (single vineyard), nothing over $15 with the Club Card. I absolutely love Bottle King. They have the best liquor and wine discounts around, and this store in particular has a massive selection and great customer service. Since the store is on Rt 17, their customer base is enormous and I am one of many proud and returning customers. Back on Saturday, December 3rd, I hosted an Xmas party in Mahwah at my place, for 25 people and needed a fair amount of alcohol. I decided that I wanted a nice beer and a "multiple beer" beer. The "multiple beer" beer was easy and whatever was on sale, whether it was coors lite, bud lite, or miller lite. The nice beer, I was a little more confused on. Sierra Nevada Celebration is a fantastic seasonal beer. When I went and asked one of the beer experts about one they suggested similar to Celebration, they directed me to Old Man Southern Tier. It went for high 20's a case, (28 a case I think). I also picked up my favorite brand of Vodka, Tito's Vodka, a bottle of Captain Morgan's and 3 bottles of Pennsylvania Dutch Egg Nog. The next issue I had? Wine...Looking for big bottles, that were not yellow tail, for under 15 a bottle. Ended up opting for the Robert Mondovi Chardonnay and Merlot. I also got 3 bottles of proseco, a wedge of blue cheese and a wedge of brie, and finally some crackers. Everything was under 200 dollars. What is more important, was super helpful employees in both the beer section and the wine section. read more
