I got poor advice from them and ended up spending a few hundred bucks on an ill-fitting jacket.
I purchased a leather jacket here during a last-minute purchase before I left Florence (and Italy). I was in a rush, had five minutes to decide. I felt like the jacket might be too tight - and if you think something doesn't fit, there's a reason. Still, the salesman assured me it fit and was fine. I figured he was a professional and would not sell an ill-fitting jacket. His reputation was worth more than the jacket, right? Maybe not - how many people will use my review?
I think he was wrong about the size. When I zip the jacket, the jacket is tight across the chest with lines of tension from the sides of the neck to the zipper pull. The stomach is also too snug to allow sitting. I had tried a larger size but the sleeves went past my hand! My body is not misshapen. It would seem the jacket design is clearly faulty to begin with. Even with this tight jacket, the sleeves come down to the last knuckle of my thumb. And I have disproportionately LONG arms! The design is for a misshapen body.
Since I arrived home, I realized I should have trusted my first opinion. I've taken the jacket to an experienced leather manufacturer/tailor who agreed it's too tight. (He also didn't even like that it was lamb, which does not last like cow hide, but I don't know of any cowhide jackets I could afford that are so wonderfully soft like my jackett.)
So, I know now I threw away a few hundred dollars. A salesman should know what a proper fit is. I had good reason to be unsure of myself. I've not owned a slimmer leather jacket - all my previous ones I bought large enough to wear over sweaters. Plus, I believed his line that the leather would stretch. Maybe it will, but a closed jacket should not have stretch marks on it while you're just standing with arms at side. Dumb move. Remember - these salesmen will never see you again. Only you are the one who is accountable for your purchase. I messed up. However, I feel like they should have done better. read more
