During the 5 min visit, he ended up changing his initial diagnosis of me having a corn to a bone spur after he left my toe bleeding when he tried to trim the affected area. My toe wouldn't stop bleeding, so his receptionist had his assistant to bandage my toe. He was rushed and condescending, all around a terrible visit. To make matters worse, I got billed $ 185.50 for trimming the skin lesion which my insurance doesn't cover. When I disputed the charge, they didn't get back to me as they say they would. Look for another doctor if you want a doctor who actually cares .

Last February I came down with a paronychia infection in the cuticle of my left big (great) toe…read more I went through several rounds of antibiotics and the infection grew no worse or better, and so I went looking for a new Podiatrist and selected Dr. Hall based on some online reviews. Well, she looked at my toe and sized up the situation and gave me the option of having the nail removed or continue with antibiotics, and I decided to just get the nail removed. She did it quickly, and as painlessly as possible. The most painful part was the needle of anesthetic going into my toe. She gave me a treatment plan for the wound to make sure healing starts off the right way. Then she scheduled a one week follow-up to see that it was healing properly, and that was a week ago. Well, it was healing fine, and I asked Dr. Hall about how to prevent such an infection (which totally caught me by surprise) from happening again. She told me I have an unusual toe joint (the large joint by the foot) in my big toes and that they only move half as far as normal. This could cause an unusual amount of stress to be transferred to the smaller joint right behind the toenail, and could cause stress on the nail leading to bacterial infiltration. Well, I didn't know that before and I'm not sure just any podiatrist would have educated me like that. (My former one I'm sure would not have). I found that Dr. Hall is easy to get along with and has a wealth of knowledge and experience. If anything awful gets a toehold in one's foot, I would highly recommend her.

I went to Everett Bone & Joint where I saw the Foot & Ankle Surgeon declined working on my foot, citing it was too complicated and did not think the outcome would be favorable. He wished me well and that was the end. My family suggested going to the UW and that was how I was introduced to Dr Prakash . He admitted me and created a treatment plan that had some of the most time-intensive and technically challenging work ahead. My foot was infected to the bone and was on IV treatment at the hospital. I hit the lottery with Dr Prakash who had assessed me and set a surgery/treatment in motion. Many of my CMT or Charcot Marie Tooth (what a name!) deformities are a result from a combination of muscular, anatomical and neurological dysfunction and just wreak havoc on your neuro-muscular foot structure . I had surgery November 2023 and as of today (March 2034) and I have finally healed with a "normal looking foot" something I had not experienced looking foot in over 5 years. I left his office crying, he was such a jerk. 6 more years and my hip, pelvic floor, and knee completely out of whack because of my condition, I steeled myself to the mission of finding a foot doctor who would at the very least x-ray my foot and give me an opinion that was something more than "You are getting old". My new doctor, the first one I saw, ordered x-rays immediately, took one look, and said I should've had surgery years ago. I am one week out from having the spur on my joint removed, and my toe already has more mobility than it has in YEARS. I am so excited to be able to walk more than a mile again after I heal more. I just can't believe I took this Dr. Grant's word for that long and did nothing but damage the cartilage a little further. Don't make the same mistake I did! See someone else who is truly into preserving the body after an injury so that you can be active for years to come.
