There weren't any public washrooms, excluding those outdoor urinals ("pee curls") that only men can really use, and an employee of a nearby shop directed us to the Magna Plaza shopping center. There were washrooms on the second floor of the shopping center, but it cost €1. But when you have to go, you have to go, and I figured since they were charging to use the facilities, it would at least be a clean and comfortable experience -- when you pay for something, there are certain expectations. To get to the entrance of the washrooms, there were two turnstiles. I went to one turnstile, but it was cash only and I didn't have any cash on me, so I went to the second turnstile that accepted credit cards. However, there was a group of fucking tourists, paying by cash, blocking the credit card only turnstile, while they took their sweet time trying to figure out the currency. I finally managed to get into the washroom, and there was no toilet paper! Seriously, if I have to PAY to use the toilet, there better damn well be toilet paper! Thank goodness I always carry napkins and tissues with me and I wasn't taking a shit! I then went to wash my hands, but there was a MALE employee in the WOMEN'S washroom, and he was blocking the sinks and wouldn't let me wash my hands! I was able to find the handicapped washroom and wash my hands in there, but there was no paper towel. This one of the worst public bathroom experiences I have had (that did not include bodily fluids or excrement everywhere). He couldn't be more right. The shop itself is so unique. I knew immediately that I would love it here. The items were cool and not like anything else I'd find while shopping. It's definitely not a tourist shop; it's not a t-shirt or postcard sort of place, but it features really cool home decor items from suspended butterflies to really cool metal displays. I knew immediately I'd find so many things I'd love and couldn't bring back to the states with me because I'd have no room and I was right, but I did find some cool metal keys to bring with me to decorate in my living room. Before my trip, I purchased a pair of jeans that didn't fit (can someone explain how a US size 2-4 translates to a UK size 10?!) and realized I couldn't return them from the US. Instead, I tracked down a River Island store near Dam Square and set out on a quest to get my $50 back lol. So, back to the review... I stopped by just in time since the store is actually closing down this month. Almost everything was on sale, from swimwear to formalwear. I got a gorgeous summer dress for 10€ (originally €65) and a cute pair of corduroy pants for 10€ (originally €40). I was also able to process my international return with the lovely cashiers who were VERY patient as they processed a return for merchandise sold to me in GBP, charged to my card in USD, with a mandatory return to my card of EUR. Say that 3 times fast. Enough to confuse anyone, but they made it happen without any complaints (and we had a good laugh about it afterwards).
