I recently took a ski trip to Stowe with your group and I just wanted to give some feedback on the…read moretrip leaders. I went on 2/14 and my trip leaders were Ed and Chrissy, who were beyond fantastic. They were friendly and helpful, even though I can not even imagine how early they had to wake up to be on time for our pickup, especially with the T running on reduced schedules. Ed brought candy to surprise us with at the end of the trip-Hershey kisses for Valentine's Day! Chrissy was especially helpful to me-I forgot my ski pants on the day of the trip, but she was kind enough to lend me her extra pair, thus saving me at least $100! They were also very patient through our 5 hour bus ride back through the blizzard. Our bus driver from Academy, Thomas was also wonderful because they watched out for our safety while driving through the blizzard! I can not rave enough about the trip-it was wonderful and I will definitely look into taking more trips with BSSC in the future!

1 star is even too high to give for this awful league. We wanted to play in a men's league this…read moresummer, were ok with the fee stated online, and registered early. Before the first game, which was moved to a later date than stated online because they wanted to wait for another team to join (which screwed the entire scheduling over), the league came up with referee fees that needed to be paid in addition to the original fee. This was never stated anywhere and was simply made up for the referees to breath fresh air for about an hour and stand in one place the whole game. Not following the rules of soccer and concussion protocols is another issue. We emailed Ryder, the Program Manager for this league, who often did not answer emails that had simple questions from our team. His scheduling was awful, originally stating that games would be between 8-10, and then scheduled us two games at 7, knowing that adults have work on weekdays. Everything that is written online is fake, and is only used to get you to sign up. None of these people can run this league normally. During our third game of the season, half of our team could not continue and finish the game. One of these injuries is was a Torn ACL (meaning no soccer for our teammate for over a year), another was a hamstring injury for about a month, another was a groin injury for about a month. None of these injuries were even called to be a foul. The refs just stand in one spot and could not care less about what happens on the field. Our teammate said that he heard his knee pop, but did not even hear a whistle. Two games after that, our goalie saves a shot and has the ball in his hands. The other team just runs at him and kicks it out of his hands, hitting him in the head while doing so, scoring a goal after that, while our goalie is down. Do these refs even do concussion trainings, or any trainings at all? Do they know what can happen if someone gets kicked in the head? Then in the playoffs, we played a team we faced twice already. We know every player on that team already. The game is already starting late as the previous game went to penalties, but the ref calmly waits until some of their players are getting dressed. They have more than enough players to start the game, but he waits until their new players get ready. These new players don't even have the team jersey (which is required as stated online, don't have shinguards, which is also required as stated online, and have shirt colors that conflict with us). Then when they win by cheating, they go and have very very poor sportsmanship while we simply quietly go back to our bench after losing (I know sportsmanship policies are also stated online). All of these games, the ref uses very very bad and insulting language to one of our registered players who is on the sideline, who partially acts as a coach. Overall, terrible communication throughout, rules online that are not followed at all, and the league runs a month later than stated online. If you want to have fun playing soccer, please find another league. You will thank me later.

I may only be taking advantage of 10% of what the YMCA offers, but so far, it is already WELL worth…read morethe price. The Kids Corner (babysitting) is fantastic. It's such a beautiful, bright and clean room, and the staff who take care of my kids are consistently fabulous -- a huge improvement from my previous gym which shall not be named where most of the staff didn't even seem to enjoy children. But the staff in the Kids Corner seem to genuinely care for the children and seem happy to be there! My daughter sucks on everything within a 2-foot radius, and I was happy to learn that they routinely clean the toys that have been sucked on! A couple other pluses: I love that the treadmills are equipped with live TV, Netflix and Hulu. The front desk staff are really friendly and helpful. There is a pretty wide variety of classes and I can't wait until the baby's nap schedule will allow me to partake in some! And the steam room! Ahhh, the steam room. A couple of things that I wish could be improved: 1) The parking. Though there is a TON of parking, it somehow doesn't seem to be enough! Around 10am on weekdays, it's pretty tough to find a spot. 2) The locker room is a little dingy. Clean, but it just feels old. Lastly, there is one huuuuuge plus that I didn't even know I needed: Diversity. Yes, you heard that right. Diversity. In Newton! Really! I love that when I bring my kids here, they will see people of all races, ages and abilities both as members and employees! I see people being treated with respect and care, and even just being near that makes you feel good, doesn't it? The YMCA is good for my soul, people. I'm so glad this place is here and has the mission it does. It really is a great place.

Five stars for Kids Corner, three to four for everything else. Lots of new equipment, friendly…read morestaff, lively atmosphere and family-friendly. The building is v v old though.

I didn't know I needed to be in an all-women environment to feel comfortable and judgement-free, but here we are! The membership is worth every penny. For more than a year, I was a member of this gym because I loved that it was a women-only space. I…read morebelieved it would be a place where all women felt supported, respected, and welcome. Unfortunately, my experience was very different. On several occasions, I felt a cold and unfriendly attitude toward me from the moment I walked through the door. As a Hispanic woman, I never felt completely welcome. The situation with the guest passes was simply the last straw. My daughter had previously been a member of this gym and is still in their system. She does not come with me regularly, which is exactly why using one of my guest passes seemed like a reasonable option. However, the way the situation was handled and the way I was treated left me feeling uncomfortable, embarrassed, and undervalued as a customer. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for the basic respect that every person deserves. It is sad to realize that a place that should make women feel safe and welcome can sometimes make some women feel excluded. After this experience, I decided to find a place where kindness, respect, and professionalism are part of the culture--not the exception.
