That's not to say there isn't room for everyone, though. With the plethora of benches and tables, there really is room for everyone. D There are tons of abandoned (okay: "donated") toys left around - for the sand box and for kids to ride on, play in, etc. which adds to the play options. I love the access from here to the pond; it makes taking a walk around the pond before or after the playground a nice option. Not to mention all the shops and restaurants right on Center Street as well. There is easily accessible parking behind the playground - it is the public parking lot in JP behind Blanchards. It is 2 hours only, but that is usually more than enough time to get in and out of the playground. It's nice to not have to troll around for a parking spot.

If you drive past it to get to the end point on Google maps, then you are too far and will be at the exit point of the parking lot. I don't understand why playgrounds don't have trees or shades? Why? The Spray Deck is open from 8 AM to 8 PM daily. Wading Pool is open 6/15/2024 - 9/2/2024 10:15am - 5:45pm. Parking is maximum 4 hours, regardless of weekday/weekend/holiday. There is an ice cream truck there sometimes. $5 or $6 for a sugary treat. (It's almost just sugar water, no ice cream content.) No hand sanitizers outside of the porta potty, so bring your own. Plenty of free parking.

There's so much to do here! Somerville used to be filled with the most down to Earth ppl you could find. Ppl that cared about the family across the street. Ppl that knew your name. Oh was it ever on display at even the rock show I attended. I can't even IMAGINE what it must be like at any other event there. It's a shame the ppl who live in the area have to be the way they are.

I have a 4 year old and 2 year old twins (BOGO for twins :P) and it was age appropriate. As the first few families there, there was plenty of space for our children to play. There are two playscapes, 2 specialty rooms and a kitchen/grocery play area. As it got busier, they opened an art room with markers and crayons that were a hit. We spent about 90 minutes there and it was the out of the house fun we needed on a chilly March day.
