The chef salad was a bit wet, but we enjoyed everything as well as the ambiance and atmosphere. I was hoping that the jays game was on but they had put the game the day before instead. There looks to be some traces of redness on the meat strands which may or may not be signs of still raw meat. We love the vibe of the place. It was packed during the Thursday night we dined in. Different sports were being played on the many different TV screens present in the restaurant bar. Their table service frequency could use a little bit of improvement. We found we had to wait for someone to come to our table a couple times too many during ordering and asking for the bill.

(But I still got wings ) Over the years it's been a bit of a roller coaster ride of ups and downs. At times, there's no place better in the city and at other times it's rather lack luster, just living on current reputation. Then at some point, the manager who seems to speak to everyone in the restaurant, but seems to not even recognize us, he realizes this and begins to turn things around. Currently we seem to be in a low spot, and here's why I think this. Mainly it's due to high turnover of staff. It seems there are new servers in week to week (probably not that frequently, but it seems that way). We remember seeing the same proficient servers week after week, now they're mostly all gone. The tall skinnier older guy (sorry I can't remember your name) is AMAZING and we hope for him every time. Sadly, we're left with the "new girl" and the service that comes with a new employee. It's an assumption that the staff just aren't treated well and that's why they leave, but could just be the restaurant industry. Lastly, food preparation has fallen below their norm. I ask for my hot Buffalo wings to be extra saucy and they NEVER are and the response I get is, the chicken wings absorbs too much of it. I ask for my wings extra saucy EVERYWHERE I go, no place else has a problem hitting the mark here. I also don't think whoever is cooking the food is tasting the food, these wings are NOT hot by any standards, I can say this because I eat a lot of chicken wings and a lot of hot wings are too spicy for me, these don't even reach medium temps. Nevertheless, the wings are tasty and I like them. Lastly, we often attend with a couple friends and one of them orders their wings extra crispy, when this happens, I too get my wings extra crispy, I don't particularly enjoy extra crispy wings :( Anyway, we're gonna stay away for a while I think and head over to Kelsey's, it's less convenient but has been far more consistent over time. Like I said, I'm not an expert here, so please make your own decisions, I just want the old Zander's back.

Second a plate had a black particle stuck to it. Next, the table had some kind of flakey chaff scattered sparingly over it. Pointed these out to the server, Cole, and he dealt with them. It bothered me that he said that the black particle was just fluff. Fluff would blow away but this was solidly stuck on. Second, I ordered a 6 oz sirloin that also came with a lobster tail for $64 and an extra side of mushrooms. My 6 oz sirloin steak was tough but cooked and flavoured nicely. The garlic mashed potatoes was a gelatinous mass with barely any garlic flavour. When the bill came I was charged for a 6oz steak with an added side of lobster which when added up cost over a hundred dollars. When I asked the server about it he said there was nothing on the menu that was like what I thought I had ordered. I found this odd but deferred to the servers knowledge thinking he would not stiff a retiree. So I paid the exorbitant extra amount and started to leave, but it bothered me. So i stopped at the desk at the exit and asked for a menu. I found the exact thing I ordered on the menu just like I pointed out to the server when I first ordered. I asked the manager who was there and he fumbled some words which I couldn't hear. In disgust that they would commit a fraud on seniors like us, I left. As I went out the door I heard him finally speak up and say he was willing to "adjust". I yelled back that it was about the principle, not the $45 difference. I'm fortunate that I can recover from a $45 fraud. I could only image how many young couples or other seniors making a special night out of going out to the Keg would be negatively effected. The table density was so tight that it wasn't possible to squeeze between the tables without brushing into the people sitting at those tables. In the beginning of the meal when there were a handful of tables that were empty she would just lean over to hear but as it became busier she had to squeeze in to get closer. The busier it became the louder it became. It got to a point I could no longer have a conversation with my mother.
