So I had done this tour about a year before, but I came to Boston with my Brother to see family and had so much fun the first time I bought tickets for round two. We were almost late after some check in issues at our Airbnb, but luckily we made it over just it time. Scotty was our tour guide and he made the tour so much fun. He has a great personality and knows quite a bit about the history. We ended up at the same places as the first go around and this time I would say Rina's was my favorite over Ernesto's. I liked the basement at Modern more this time around as well. Of course the cannolis from upstairs are always a hit. The next day we ran into our tour guide Scotty walking through Faneuil Hall! We were chatting about the Pats game the following day and he invited us to join him and his crew for a tailgate before the game. We met up with him and had the best time. We did a private pizza tour on a beautiful crisp Friday at 11 am. It was absolutely amazing. Along a tour of historic sites, we ate amazing pizza and I had cannoli that was out of this world. We chose the private tour route as we have a 3-year-old and can't eat at places indoors. Our tour guide easily accommodated us by choosing nearby parks that we could sit and inhale the tomatoey cheesy goodness that he picked up for us. Interspersed between our pizza eating, we saw Paul Revere's house, North Square, Old North/Clough house (Boston's oldest standing church, Copp's Hill Burying Ground (Boston's second oldest burying ground), and Copp's Hill Terrace where we saw the USS Constitution from afar. Throughout the tour we heard truly interesting stories and absorbed the history enthusiastically. The cannoli deserves it's own paragraph. We went to Modern Pastry which is one of the top places for cannoli in the North End as I understand it. When we were walking around after the tour, like 50% of the people we saw going about their day were holding a box from Modern Pastry (the other half were holding boxes from Mike's Pastry). All I can say is that when I bit into the cannoli it was like my whole reference for what cannoli should taste like...changed. It was so good. Like bring tears to your eyes good. Like, make you want to get a second stomach so you can shove more of this creamy goodness into your face good. Like make you wish that they would make a giant cannoli and you could climb into the cream and take a nap good. I could go on and on. I would highly recommend Boston Pizza Tours. If you're looking for a fun way to see some very historic sites and you love amazing, authentic food, this is the activity for you! read more

Do not do this tour. We had a several hour layover in Boston and my son wanted to do the Boston Pizza Tour, so we booked it months in advance. The day before we arrived, we received an email confirmation of our tour. We arrived at the designated location several minutes before our start time. Several minutes after the start time, no one showed up. We called the number on the website and no one answered. We continued to wait and called again (now 20 minutes after the tour was set to start) and were simply told they were not going to run the tour that day. When I reminded him of the email confirmation, he said that was an automated system. If you have unlimited time and can wait for days, this may be appropriate for you. If you want to be sure you have plans, choose another option. read more

Went on the Historic North End Pizza Tour with "Big Al" as our tour guide. Had a fantastic tasty experience eating pizza from Umbertos, Regina's and Ernesto's while finishing up with a cannoli from Modern Pasty!!! Good pizza tour with historical guide of North End. Be prepared to walk. The tour covered Paul Revere's house, North Square, Boston's oldest standing church, Copp's Hill Burying Ground and other places. The tour only provided 3 stops at pizza restaurants for takeouts, for a total of 2 cheese slices and 1 margarita slice; one slice per restaurant. In other words, you don't dine at the pizza restaurants. The tour concluded with a cannoli from Modern Pastry as a gift. Therefore, this is not really a pizza tasting tour of the North End but nevertheless, it was still fun at a reasonable price. read more

We had the chance to check out the Boston Pizza Tour (North End) this weekend and were not disappointed. We had a great tour guide (currently blanking on his name), who mixed in a little bit of history, as well as lots of pizza and interesting tidbits about Boston. For pizza, we got to try Modern Underground, Galleria Umberto, and Ernesto's. My favorite was Galleria Umberto, which is old school sicilian pizza and seems to have a line out the door all day long. They sell until they run out of the few items they offer. All were really good in their own right, but all very different. The tour seems to vary the pizza stops depending on the tour guide/weather/day etc. We were a group of 16, but ended up being able to find seats immediately at the first two places, and the last place we were a little cozier. A great way to take in a little of the Freedom Trail, taste some delicious food, and learn about the north end neighborhood of Boston! read more

This was the only tour we did while we were in Boston and it was a blast. If you are more interested in lots of history this tour is not for you, but if you'd like to learn a little and eat a lot this is totally for you! Out of the three pizza places we went to two were absolutely spectacular and worth the money I paid for the tour. The second place we went to was one of the 1000 degree chain places and I was genuinely not pleased. I can get that pizza anywhere and was hoping for pizzas that were authentic to the city of Boston. I was also confused about the drinks that were included. On the pizza tour website it said that two drinks were included and only one was. A weekend in Boston meant getting in as much of the city, history, culture and eats as we could. Found this tour through Plum Benefits and scored on the price. The only downside (& I'll start with that but end on a positive...promise) was that the city was playing host to Boston Pride ‍which meant traffic and road closures. We took an uber from the South End to the North End meeting spot but we arrived 10 minutes late and the tour had left without us. Determination and perseverance along with asking every large group if "they were the Pizza Tour?" Guess what... we found them! Having only missed the first Pizza stop (& there were 3 along our tour) we managed to get in some history, see some of the oldest buildings in Boston, learn about the local Italian eateries in the area and on our second stop, Regina's Pizza. Excellent tour around one of the most beautiful parts of Boston. Martin our guid was full of knowledge, took his time and made you feel right at home. The pizza along the tour was some of the best I've ever had and I'm from New York, I know my Pizza. It was my wife, myself and our 11 month old. Went on this tour today with my 2 girls (12 and 15). We loved it. The history was fascinating and the pizza was perfect. Nothing quite like comfort food on a cold, rainy day in Boston. Each pizza stop offered something different. We really enjoyed each slice. And the cannolis were so authentic and delicious. Our guide was terrific. I could have just sat down with him over a beer to hear more about this cool town. He did a great job. A tip for anyone visiting the neighborhood for the first time - this is a place I would have loved to just spend the day eating and shopping. But you need CASH. Just about every store was cash only. I did this tour with my work colleagues who were from out of state. Thought this would be a perfect combination of history and eating some great north end pizza. The good: The tour was good, tour guide was entertaining. The not so good. Pizza at Modern? made no sense, not a place I would ever go for pizza, then another place, Rina's, where we ate cold pizza out in the cold (if we ate fresh pizza inside, it might have been better) and ended with Ernesto's which was also nothing to be wowed by. We were in the North end! How did we not go to Regina's a staple pizza place in the north end. As a local and wanted to show out of towners a good time, this was a let down. read more

Hmmm...I'd really, REALLY like to give this FIVE stars! Because PIZZA really is my life! Patrick our tour guy gets the five stars without a doubt! He was great! Super fun, really friendly, answered all the questions and was super knowledgable. The tour on the other hand, was actually not as fun. We got there at the designated time. Acatually we were there 15 minutes early. Other guests were NOT! So the entire tour we had to keep waiting around for these guests. Which had Patrick continuosly calling in and trying to "round up" the lost guests and us waiting on them. It was just ridiculous. He rounded up pizza for them, called for them, etc. It was really getting annoying. We kept standing around waiting for these people. However, the pizza was fantastic and thankfully Patrick was awesome! I've been on many tours of Boston so I didn't learn to much of the city I didn't learn from a previous tour. I think I'll stick to the cupcake tour and chocolate tours. BUT....thank you for showing me that there's an amazing bar in the basement of Modern Pastery..SCORE! read more

I've been on a fair share of food tours and normally there are five or more stops, especially for the price. There should be more stops and a specialty slice offered at one of the stops. read more

He answered questions and was so friendly and helpful with suggestions of places we should see and try.We had a mixture of history, a nice walk , and pizza. He took us to Ernesto's which was amazing and the crust was perfect, Regina pizzeria was very good, we ate it in the prado by Paul Revere park. We finished up at Modern underground and the buffalo chicken pizza was to die for. We even went back for some sweets at Modern bakery.We will be back to try one of his other tours in the future. She was also awesome for finding us even though we were running a little late and the tour had to start without us. I had been recommended to do this by several friends, so was really excited when Gster gave this to me as a birthday gift. Classically, we didn't use the birthday gift until about nine months later. However it was still much appreciated, thanks Gster. We invited some friends to come with us for a day full of pizza and history. Or what we had hoped. Sounds like a blast! We arrived a bit late which didn't seem to be a problem. Our guide was a short blonde women, who says she's lived in every area of Boston except the North End. We should have known this was a sign that the tour would not be what we expected. Overall I was quite disappointed with the tour. Firstly, all of the pizza places they took us to, Gster and I had already been to. Well 2 1/2 of them. However they did choose the best pizza places ... Gster and I had just already sought them out before. The information on the tour itself was minimal at best. I was hoping to learn new things about the different types of the pizzas, or the histories of the pizza places. But the information was mostly general information about the buildings in the North End. But even that was very scarce. She also took us to a chocolate shop, which would have been great if we were on a chocolate tour, however, we were on a pizza tour... and all I wanted was pizza! Given these problems, I would have been mad if I spent the full price, however, we did use the Groupon. Overall, I think it's a good idea and a great concept and maybe we just got stuck with the bad tour guide. Yesterday we did our second pizza walking tour. We had done one two years ago on Father's Day, and had a great time, so we went again. Two of the three stops were the same, but still great nonetheless. It's a fun way to get a little fresh air, enjoy a few slices, and hear some fun facts about Boston history. I recently moved to the area and am a huge pizza fan, but am gluten-free.
