as an avid long-distance runner, coach, boston qualifier & finisher, the attack @ the boston marathon on 4/15/2013 definitely hit close to home.
i was in town a few days early before running boston in april 2019, so i took full advantage of everything bean-town has to offer, the marathon expo, the special vendors along boylston, boston creme pie, and of course, paying homage at this memorial.
when i went, it was more or less gated off, and still partially under construction (to be completed summer 2019, i was a few months early) but i could see the plaque, and definitely got emotional just standing there, looking at this tribute to the victims and events from 6 years prior.
if you're in town to run boston, volunteering, cheering, supporting, or just passing through on boyston street, i definitely recommend stopping by and taking a few moments to reflect at this memorial/tribute, which i'm told is now completed, as of a few months ago. i hope to have the opportunity to return to boston soon and visit the now completed memorial. read more
