It exists, and it's *awesome.* SIL is the quarterback for our very own DC Divas, and over the years the Divas have met the Boston Militia in regular and post-season games a number of times. In Boston, games take place at Dilboy in Somerville. Dilboy looks like a truly professional facility: gorgeously maintained turf field, manicured landscaping, an actual ticket booth, well-kept restrooms, a free-standing concession stand, a large press box, plenty of seating with both visitors and home seating on the same side of the stadium. Viewing games at Dilboy is a pleasure. A great spot for showcasing women's pro sports.

The grounds are protected from gulls and other pests by faux fox. Surrounding the turf is a beautiful rubberized track and bright stadium lights. The stadium itself is a concrete structure with public bathrooms (when the field is in use) and locker rooms for HOME and VISITING teams (but not open for BSSC). I've only played on this field for BSSC soccer games, but it's by far my favorite of all the others (Wayland is nice, but far....). They are host to local sports teams in HIgh School and College as well. A short drive from Powderhouse Circle, Davis Square, and Teele Square, it's also the closest field that's equally gorgeous. Of course, such a first class field has it's woes. Beware of DPW grounds keepers. They are very strict about their rules and are quick to enforce them. + No cleats on the track, only on cloth which has been carefully bridged over the rubber. + No sports drinks. WATER ONLY. Grrrr... + No food or gum either.

First encountered it when chatting with the Boston Whitecaps, and have been back once for a game. Uncovered, bench seating hearkens back to Any Given Friday of high school gridiron, and rightfully so - it's the official field for Medford High's football games and track meets. That said, Medford High is pretty generous with loaning out the space to outside orgs, like the aforementioned Major League Ultimate kids. Couple the spectrum of covered events with a dirt cheap, beer-stocked concession stand, ample parking and the blinding brilliance of three kajillion watts in fresh bulbage, and you've got a easy, low-cost way to kill a few hours. Or run a few laps. Whichever.

Most tickets are $15 and is more or less open seating. The play is fast and furious and the crowd is made up mostly of young lacrosse players and their families. Really good concessions featuring Redbones BBQ as well as some killer chicken tenders and fries and the usual assortment of stadium/carnival food. The production values are great from the video packages to the dance team to the guy firing cannon shots for every Cannon goal. I'd call it more family oriented then a "guy's night out" kind of experience as there are all sorts of interactive displays before the game sponsored by many lacrosse vendors and the like. The only real negative is the annoying local DJ acting as MC for the twice a quarter contests etc. I know this pays the bills but gosh, it slowed things down and I wanted to head for a beer every time I head this dude open his mouth. All and all a great, reasonable night over at Harvard Stadium and worth checking out

What's really cool is that the stadium is left unlocked. Anyone 24/7 can walk in the Roman coliseum type structure and walk on the turf field. A bit disappointing that it was not a grass field, but oh well. There are some renovations going on over the Summer. To me it looks it's age. The scoreboard is modest. A bit of background. The Harvard Stadium turned 116 years old this year. It has the distinction of being the oldest permanent concrete structure in intercollegiate sports. For more than a century it stands proud as the "aristocrat of American sports amphitheaters". As one writer described it. Their first game was against Dartmouth in 1903. Get a photo op on the field and experience the history of Harvard Football. It's a darn cool place to say you have visited.

The Jack Kirrane ice rink is in a lovely setting…read moreas it's not only outdoors, but at the top of a hill surrounded by trees and then the rest of the Larz Anderson Park. It's a great visual experience on top of having nice ice. A plus is that aside the rink is a flat patch of rectangular ice for beginners to practice on. One thing I don't like about skating at the Reilly Rink in Cleveland Circle is that beginners flop all over the ice. You can sit at the side of Reilly and time it on your watch and not go more than five seconds without seeing someone fall on the ice and possibly cause a pile-up. Kirrane has a nice solution for it. Reilly is free and Kirrane does charge $8 for Brookline residents (as of early 2026, fees may change with inflation!!!) and $10 for non-residents. They also rent nice quality skates, both figure and hockey style, if you don't have your own. The absolute best is to come in December to early January for the afternoon public skate and watch the sun set and the sky change colors off to the west before they shut down at 4:30pm. If you're lucky there will also be some snow in the surrounding trees adding to the experience. The only negative experience I has was that the staff didn't confront some pain in the butt kids. Some kids around ages 10-12 went on the beginner ice and were skating really fast and then diving and sliding on the ice as far as they could and knocking into beginner skaters, including young children. Neither their parents nor the staff said a word to them. I was close to going hockey player and roughing some of them up to teach them a lesson. They really should crack down on this before someone really gets hurt.

The parking outside is spacious which is pretty awesome - it's in fact a lot better than the rink in Everett in those terms. And that is also the case for the locker rooms which are also pretty big. That aside, the ice was in pretty good condition and not as soft as in other rinks, mostly because of the fact that the rink itself is kept at a colder temperature. The lighting of the ice is decent but the benches are a bit too short in length. Some of us had to stand up during the game... All in all this is a pretty solid ice skating rink though. I'm playing there next week and look forward to it.

Tufts a no gotta their own rink on campus since they didn't have varsity hockey until a few years back. Good trivia (trivierrr) in case you're ever in town. It's small, not a lot of seats, but it's cozy. And you can see just fine, and they don't mind if you stand up right next to the boards so that's cool to get the close up especially when there's a big hit right in front of you. Plenty of locals in the stands (who knew there were so many Norwich hockey alums in the area?) and lotsa "Hey Laaahrrry, how's the wife?" type of talk. Always amusing to hear. Jack had never been to a hockey game so it was pretty fun for him. However, I think he had just as much fun playing the racecar video game in the lobby. Actually I did too!

Their D-level games are great for anyone who is just getting started, and the staff and fellow players all seem to be friendly people. You don't get any of the goons who plague other hockey leagues across the area, just a bunch of players who want to have a good, safe game. The skills clinics are also fantastic. The two instructors, Joe and Rich, push you hard, all while encouraging everyone in the group and keeping it fun. Anyone in the early stages of adult hockey would benefit from the clinic and have fun while doing it.

You will be told that meets their SLA and not refunded. 3. Game is only 50mn max. 4. Refs leave early. 5. Player leveling is poor. 6. Players take 5mn shifts so expect to spend 10mn on the bench. All stinky socks does is rent cheap ice, offer poorly managed unattended games where they refuse to disclose participation numbers before the game, then charge people, then make an excuse and fail to refund your money. There has to be a better way. These two guys and their dog pretend to have big company policies while failing to manage the basics of the business. Avoid StinkySocks aka StinkySucks.
