Though I no longer live in Jackson, I am a frequent visitor, and today the Jackson Public Library saved me with their free wifi! I was pleasantly surprised to find a fully open and free broadband network that would let me finish my work without the frustration of dialup or satellite internet. For the area, the library is well stocked and can usually order books if you ask. It has a very pleasant feel, though a bit on the warm side for me. The help desk was true it its name when I had asked about free wifi. Not only can you borrow books, but you're also able to send faxes, browse an amazing selection of local history, newspapers, and other periodicals, and hop one of the many computers available. If you find yourself in Jackson looking for a free network or wanting to bone up on your southern Ohio history, come to the public library! It's a great place to work for a few hours!

It looks like a classic boring 1900's library from the outside but inside are smooth lines, workstations, subtle lighting and lots of up-to-date bookshelves. Great seating and a friendly library who booked a private study room for me (I learned that it can be done through the website) where I did a couple Zoom calls without disturbing my fellow library patrons. I know that last one might sound strange, but I promise it's not. That downtown library is likely to be historic and thus you get to observe the area's older architecture. Libraries tend to have an exhibit/area that shares local history. Again a chance to learn more about where you are. And my guilty pleasure, libraries have used books for sell. Like a bookstore, you never know what you'll find and you can support them at the same time. I stumbled upon this one while en route to a cake shop and knew I needed to stop in. The exterior is a beautiful, Roman-sque design and harkens back to when libraries were to place to be admired and revered. As I entered, there was a layout (much needed with three floors to navigate) with the bookstore on the ground level. I found a few books (for literally a total of $5) and was soon back on my cake mission. Were I a resident of the area, this would be a regular spot for me.

The staff is very friendly and takes the time to get to know each customer. They are very helpful with book reservations as well as suggestions. They help you with book transfers as well. I highly recommend this Library for any Cabell County patron and I can't wait until they are able to build the new Library. Finally, they have a number of programs for kids and this location isn't too far from a couple of the schools.

I'm surprised it hasn't been reviewed, and that I didn't review it. They have remodeled a couple times over the years, and it is incredible now. Lots of stacks, in an old building with interesting rooms and niches. They also have a pretty good selection of nice reading rooms. It's a beautiful building in an historic town. Support your library; it supports the community.

This is just a great little library. The staff is friendly and remembers you. There is a summer…read morereading program for children. There are computers for internet access and they fax and print items off the net for a fee. Its part of a good libary network. Requests from other libraries in the county are usually processed in just a few days. They loan movies.
