In an unsuspecting place in downtown lakeland this bakery packs a punch. Line around the building so you have time to think about what you want. I suggest ordering ahead. The ambiance is rustic. The people working the front were so nice and warm even while working so hard. Get everything. It's all delicious I had an apple pie cruffin but I ate it before I could take a picture. read more

Order it to go! I highly recommend ordering through the app rather than ordering in person. When you go there, the place can feel rushed, crowded, and a little overwhelming. With how popular this spot is, I'm honestly surprised they don't have someone helping guide new customers through the ordering process. Even when ordering online, the atmosphere can feel pretty loud and hectic because of the crowds. That said, the food is amazing! I truly wish them the best because they definitely have something special. They just need to find a better way to manage the flow of customers and make the overall experience a little smoother. read more

We stopped by for lunch on our way across the state. We ordered two sandwiches and a chocolate cruffin (croissant made into a muffin shape). We weren't sure we should eat in our car or the bake shop, but are very glad we decided to eat in the shop. The sandwiches were the most messy sandwiches we have ever eaten. There was so much mayonnaise tasting sauce. The crust was too hard to eat, but the bread itself was great. The sandwiches aren't cut, which made eating even more difficult as it was near impossible to bite through the crust. We ended up with a pile of soup/sauce on the napkins we had to put on the table under where we were eating. No plates are available. If I ordered a sandwich again, I would ask for minimal or no sauce. The cruffin was great, but again, very messy to eat. Ordering is at the counter (or online) and when the screen is flipped around, the screen shows a suggested tip over 20%. This is before even receiving your food. I couldn't find the no tip option and chose the lowest amount which was 15% or more. My total was over $40. If I stopped by again, I may buy a loaf to go and a chocolate croissant (to enjoy at home). read more

I found this place by accident waiting on my girlfriend to get off of work and to say it was an absolute delight to find this place is an understatement. The food was phenomenal everything was perfect. I loved the food spread out so you could see each individual thing you ordered. I adored the way they identity each customer with an almost uplifting description about themselves. I'm back this weekend to take my daughters so I can enjoy this with them read more

Yumminess overload! Tips to know: order online for pickup so you get exactly what you want or get there early before they sell out! The place was crowded when we got there around lunchtime. There is comfy seating which I was not sure of initially so that's a plus! They have an array of pastries as well as several types of sandwiches. Everything is at the checkout counter to view before ordering. The staff is friendly and helpful. We ordered a gluten free chocolate chip cookie and a strawberry glazed chocolate filled cruffin.. part muffin part croissant.. so delightful!! I'm craving another just writing this! The cookie was super yummy as well with chunks of chocolate! We will definitely be returning to this location! read more

The corned beef with cabbage sandwich was pretty good. The strawberry dessert muffin (or whatever it was called ) was a masterpiece of a dessert. The strawberry icing actually tasted like strawberries in the most amazing way possible. My only real criticism : The line system was a bit confusing and it seemed like online orders were priority over people that were actually there. At least that's how it appeared. Other than that WE WILL BE BACK! read more

This place is absolutely delicious. The only reason I struggled to give it five stars is because of the parking situation, which is awful. If you can find a way to get here though you absolutely should. I've been here a couple times and had people bring me things from here and I'm always very happy. My favorite thing I ever had here was a chocolate peanut butter pie, which was mind blowingly good. However, everything I've had from here has been pretty spectacular. I highly recommend the cookies here. I really love cookies, but their brown butter cookie is incredible. The pastries are really good too. I really enjoy the glazed croissant and I recently had a lemon twist that was very good. Finally, the sandwiches that I've had from here are both really good as well. I've only had the breakfast sandwiches, but I enjoyed the hot honey sausage biscuit and the bacon breakfast sandwich. 5 stars. read more

Drove here with my daughter because we love the freshly baked goodies. Delicious bread. My daughter also loves the granola! Highly recommend ordering online for pickup as it will substantially reduce your wait time. The line gets long and after you order you then have to wait for the order to be packed. It's really crowded ave parking can be issues too. They do have seating available but given the crowd and noise level I choose to not dine in. Staff is always friendly. read more

Always delicious, we went early to pick up our order and my husband ended up buying an apple pie while we were waiting. Since we were so early the line wasn't terribly long, but even with being there at 7:06 and preordering online before going, it still took 15 minutes to get our order. If you wait till after 8am, it takes even longer to get your stuff, so make sure you go early! The pastries are delicious, and my nephew and I love to eat the four cheese sourdough. I bought 2 loaves since we eat them over the week while we are down here. We always make sure to go whenever we come since we live in TN and we don't have one up there. The store is clean and dimly lit, but everyone is nice and the food is delicious. read more

From pricing, to ambiance, to taste, this place has to down! By far the best bakery from scratch in Lakeland. Worth the wait and they have a pretty good ordering system. Flavor cannot be beat. Service is solid for keeping the line moving and still treating customers well. I will there was more seating, but it is not their fault for being too busy. Let's just say ANYTHING on this menu is worth trying. This is the taste of delicious home baking that will not disappoint! We had breakfast at the restaurant and ordered lunch to go. We had the Chopped Italian Sub and a their delicious Brown Butter Chocolate Chunk Pecan Oat Cookie for our picnic lunch. They have an efficient system in meeting the expectations of their many customers. You can pre-order on line or choose to stand in line to order. The waiting time was not long. The food was fresh and warm. The ambiance is very homey, with old rustic, country flair that is warm and inviting. Born & Bread Bakehouse is the place I measure up every other bakery in Lakeland and the surrounding area. NO ONE has Cinnamon rolls that can compare. Their cruffins are flaky outside and the perfect amount of filling wrapped in the layers but the icing drizzled over the top makes them an experience. Their sourdough bread loaves are so good it is hard to not eat an entire loaf in one day! Their store itself is adorably eclectic yet rustic. You can dine in but getting a seat will be a major challange because they are so busy! You are best to order ahead since the line stretches down the block to get in on a normal day. Holiday pick up is insane! But the wait is worth it. But, check their hours as they are only open a few days a week. If you really need a B&B fix, you can find a limited selection of their offerings at Publix in Lakeland (Miriam Square I believe). It wont be quite as fresh, but when it tastes so good, will you really notice? LOL read more

I love me some Born and Bread. I've been coming here for years, before they were ever open multiple days a week! Friends and I would drive all the way from Tampa just to get some of their goodies - worth it!! The ordering system is a bit more complicated now, but it's easier to get what you want because they're open more days a week. I still highly recommend doing an online order for pickup though. Every single baked goods and sandwich that I've had is incredible. I cannot emphasize enough that they knock it out of the park, always, every time, never had a miss. Their coffee is nothing to write home about, but that's not why you go (go to concord coffee after grabbing your goods for an elite combo). Make sure that you get enough for a few days, because you're gonna be bummed when it's all gone! read more

As much as I would love to give this a 5 star review, the process alone of ordering didn't want me coming back. It's extremely popular and I get why. The food is great. However, the process to get it alone was difficult and there's better places in Lakeland that are more convenient. However, I do suggest trying it at least once! read more

This bakery has some amazing food. We've only been a couple times and it's usually pretty busy, today was actually a pretty chill day since the line only had one group of customers in front of us. I ordered the peanut butter cold brew and it tasted strong of peanut butter. I love it. I also ordered the almond croissant which is just fantastic, I've gotten it every time. I forgot to take pictures of the other stuff we got but it was also delicious. The sausage biscuit, baklava cheesecake bostock, and the hot cocoa cruffin. The almond croissant is my favorite, along side the cinnamon roll they have. Only issue is it took 30 minutes to get our items, which it feels like shouldn't take more than 5 minutes for any order when all the pastries are already done and directly behind the cashier. Should just be able to pluck them off the racks and hand them to you. 30 minutes was a bit over the top. Otherwise it would be 5stars. read more

Sooooo, I've been wanting to go to this bakery for ages now but never make it in time...until now... Wow!!!! I'm at a loss of words. I'm secretly eating my chocolate chip cookie I got to-go for when my kids went to bed. I'm pretty sure all moms are nodding their heads now...been there, done that! This cookie was phenomenal! So chewy on the inside and crunchy on the edges. This was $4 well spent! As for the other food we ordered (croissant, biscuit egg broccolini sandwich, granola, hot dog deliciousness), it was excellent too! I couldn't take pictures of the other food because...well...I had hangry children, so you will just have to take my word for it. Everything was amazing! The line was long, but it went fast. We were too late for the sold-out cruffins, but we will most definitely be coming back! P.S. If you have toddlers/younger kids and need a place to burn off the carbo load, head to Common Ground Park. Quite possibly the best gluten free cookie I've ever had My husband had a breakfast sandwich that he said was 11/10. I appreciate that they have a gluten free cookie, but sadly, we had to go somewhere else because there wasn't much I could eat for breakfast. They have gluten free granola as a take home option, but don't have yogurt, etc to eat it there. All of the pastries are beautiful. The environment is hip and comfortable. The staff are super friendly and fun. I think they are totally rocking it as a bakery and I would absolutely return for a sweet treat. read more

I wandered past here when I was on a walk. I was hit by the wonderful smells when I opened the door. I was one of the 1st customers, but the business quickly picked up from there. Everything looked tasty! It is great getting to see the food displayed with the product name. I can tell if I want it or not by seeing it. I ordered the broccolini biscuit. I am a sucker for biscuits, and eggs and veggies are always a winning combo. This biscuit did not disappoint. I stopped by here on the way back from Tampa and wow this place did not disappoint. It's been a couple of weeks and I still think about born and bread occasionally lol! I absolutely loved their banana bread muffin and it was vegan; it was so fluffy and moist and filled with cream on the inside which was delicious and just complimented the muffin so well! I also ordered the sausage + hot honey breakfast biscuit, which was also pretty good; my only complaint was that it was a bit on the oily side and more sweet and less hot than I imagined. I paired this with the peanut butter latte, which for someone who loves peanut butter, I did not like it at all! I've never had a PB latte, but I also don't think I did well in pairing it with other sweet items. Overall, the staff here is so kind. The wait for our food was a bit long but this place gets some good foot traffic. I love the southern rustic aesthetic it has. All the pastries are out for display which makes it tempting to not want to get everything, but everything looks so fresh and delicious. Will definitely make my way back to this cute and yummy place whenever I'm close by! read more

I saw this place online and decided I needed to make the drive from Orlando to try it out! A friend and I came on a Thursday to avoid the weekend crazy and got there around 11:30. I was worried about parking and seating but we lucked out with both. When we got inside there was only had one other person in front of us. The line did grow to the door while we were there but they move through it quickly and everyone seemed to be able to sit that wanted to. There is additional seating outside as well as ample parking in the rear. For sandwiches we tried the Turkey Swiss and the chicken salad. Both were delicious and of ample size. My only complaint is they didn't cut the sandwiches in half which is an issue when you want to share or even eat it yourself as it is a large sandwich! The turkey also had a herb mayo on it that was very garden fresh. I wasn't sure I liked it but it grew on me. We also tried the peanut butter ice coffee and the Vietnamese iced coffee. Both were very good and the PB one wasn't as strange as I thought it would be. However the Vietnamese one was the true stand out. We got cruffins (Vietnamese coffee and Boston cream) as well as cookies to go. The Boston cream one was good and flaky but the cream had an odd taste to it that I can't place. The cookies were very cake like (puffy) but had good flavor. Would I drive over an hour to go again? I'm honestly not sure but if I was in the area I would absolutely stop again. read more

Every time we go here it's always a hit! If you go on a weekend, be sure to preorder the night before so you can go straight to the pickup line. Wednesdays aren't bad at all and you'll wait in line maybe 5-10 minutes tops. The vegan peanut butter coffee is the BEST! Also highly recommend the cinnamon roll, breakfast sandwiches, and pretty much every single bakery item they offer. The decor is adorable and I love that they have indoor and outdoor seating. In Lakeland, about an hour from Tampa or Orlando, this place gets rave reviews: - Open Wednesday to Saturday, 7 am to 2 pm (till 1 pm Saturdays). - Plan for about a 20-minute wait in line, but you can order online. - Menu changes daily, with seasonal goodies. They sell out fast, so order a day ahead--I missed their strawberry croissant at 11 am. - Must-tries are their croissant and cruffin. The glazed croissant was sooo good. The cruffin was crispy outside and soft inside. - Tried the Morning Vietnam cold brew, not too sweet. - Lots of parking in the rear - On Saturdays, a quick 5-minute drive takes you to Lakeland Downtown Farmers Curb Market, 8 am to 2 pm. Lots of parking, handmade stuff, fresh produce, deli treats. Cool shops like Scout & Tag. read more

Speechless is what I am. I have never in my life tasted pie that was so good. Our family ordered a pumpkin pie from here on Thanksgiving and we were beyond impressed. We had to go back and get more! The menu is seasonal but I got the Cuban Frita $5.75, Dark chocolate sea salt cronut $4.75 and the Olive loaf $7. If they're on the menu, don't hesitate, run. Born and Bread is incredible!! It's only open Wednesdays and Saturdays. We've visited twice once back in 2020..ish and again recently. When we first visited they were only doing online orders, which went very smoothly. Last Saturday, we just decided to stop in this time, and did wait a good hour. Pro top, you can pre-order the day before and skip the line. They rotate new items and they had a lot of fall stuff but I was unfortunately too late, all sold out by the time I ordered. :( We ordered the olive loaf, $7. I feel like it's an absolute must if you like olives and sour dough! For sweets, we got the bourbon banana chocolate croissant (my favorite, I had to order it a second time and I typically don't like to order the same thing), the salted sea salt cruffin and the Cuban Frito. Yes, you NEED to visit Born and Bread if you haven't already! It's a nice day trip and there are plenty of fun parks or things to explore in Lakeland! read more

Yeah it's a weird order/service process but I guess it works for them; like the 5 loaves of bread displayed in a basket at the beginning of the line; we go to order & are told "Those are all spoken for...reserved...bought" HUH!? "But we have some that didn't raise all the way, we're selling for $3...here I'll show you" She walks over grabs a gorgeous, albeit flatter loaf. We say, we'll take it! AND SHE WALKS IT ALL THE WAY BACK! It's the process, she takes the orders, somebody else fills it. So we waited for our loaf, a Brown Butter Chocolate Walnut Oat cookie, Berry Cobbler & 2 coffees with a clutch of people crowding the register. Seems it's just part of the experience. Sure, they could've handed us our order 3 times over & we'd have been on our way, but will we be back? As Stephanie Plum says in Janet Evanovich novels, "Damn skinny"! The coffee was hot & our bag of goodies were delicious. Put me in line, I'll order what's available & enjoy the entertainment of the process read more
