The old woman who owns this business is the most confrontational, aggresive, rudest person I have EVER encountered in hospitality .
I was dining with a table of 10. It was cold and raining and as as they refuse to seat people indoors for goodness knows what reason, we were all outside, watching the poor staff trying to stop the marquee gutters from overflowing onto diners. We had moved inside to pay, when the owner said we had wait outside (remember it's cold and raining). I turned and mumbled to myself "oh great I'll just go outside and wait in the rain." The owner heard me and came running after me, making quite a scene, carrying on about why was I being like that, I had a nice veranda to stand under. She had a real bee in her bonnet and really overreacted. I asked her why she was making us wait outside in the cold when we are no longer under covid restrictions or require social distancing. I couldn't believe she was carrying on so much about a comment I'd made to no one but myself. She just wouldn't let it go.
One of my fellow diners was hanging around talking inside after paying. I said to her she had better come outside before she also got told off. This was done quietly and was a private conversation between me and her. The old woman came running over and started at me again. She came right up into my personal space, blocked me with her body and started carrying on about why was I being so rude. She was being so nice to me and why was I doing this? For a second, I though she was going to push me, that's how aggressive and confrontational her manner was. I was taken aback. I could not believe her overreaction and intimidating manner. One of my fellow diners later commented that it was ironic she was carrying on and making a scene about how I was making her feel awful, when she was berating me at volume in front of other patrons!
I left quite shaken and shocked. One of the other diners was literally standing there with her mouth gaping, unable to believe what she was hearing. The owner is a nasty old bully. I hate to think how she treats her staff if this is what she thinks is appropriate behaviour towards a paying customer.
Never again will I set foot in this awful restaurant. The entire table of 10 have agreed to never go there again based on her behaviour. So she has cost herself 10 customers and all the other people that each of us will tell about this experience.
Two additional facets of poor service about this restaurant. They will only seat you outdoors, regardless of the weather. Keep this in mind in Winter, as you aren't allowed to be inside as I discovered! They also have time restrictions on dining, only booking you at 5:30 or 7:30. If you are at the earlier booking, they will quite pointedly tell you when your time is up. Another example very rude service. read more
