Midlands, AKA JM Construction, rebuilt my deck and barbecue after it was damaged in a fire. They…read moreweren't responsible for the immediate cleanup, but they had to start with a lot of demolition of the old deck, while preserving the substructure and parts that I wanted to retain. The estimator, Ron, worked with me on the initial plan, which ultimately turned out very well. Our project manager did a good job on coordination of labor and materials, but needed some prompting on communication of work schedules. We arrived at a workable solution. I have specific shout outs for two of the carpenters, Antonio and Hector. They are meticulous craftsmen, and did an amazing job of piecing the deck boards together around the original bench supports that extend through deck into concrete footings. Each support had to be templated and then precisely cut into the pricey 20-foot Trex flooring planks. The results are near perfect, down to matching the faux wood grain on the top of the planks. Antonio did most of the framing on the new barbecue island, which required adapting it to the geometry of the original substructure. It turned out better to than the original that was lost in the fire. It is said that a good contractor is one who shows up to work sober and finishes the job. The team at JM is in a league above that, which is why I would recommend them not just to strangers, but also to my friends.

I highly recommend Midlands Restoration for home mitigation. Earlier this year, a bathroom leak…read morecaused damage downstairs. Midlands Restoration handled the mitigation professionally. They arrived on time, identified the root cause, and quickly initiated repairs by removing damaged flooring. Their insurance documentation was excellent. Midlands Restoration worked extremely hard and I was very impressed with their skills, work ethic, and reliable service during the stressful situation. Their direct coordination with my insurance company really helped ease the burden. For any home repair or water mitigation needs, Midlands Restoration has my wholehearted recommendation.

WATCH OUT FOR THIS COMPANY. My experience was unforgivable…read more They did not give me an overall estimate as to what it would cost because they told me the insurance company would cover it minus my deductible. I got two other previous estimates from different companies who each priced it at less than $2000 total therefore I was educated as to what the duties consisted of, how long it would take, and about how much it would cost. This company convinced me that they would absolutely go through my homeowners insurance, therefore me only being out of pocket my deductible. I decided to go with this company. This company started the work, was there maybe three hours, did not do certain duties that other companies explained they would have done, and then left their equipment pumping waste water from under my house into my yard instead of disposing of it properly. As days went by, I never heard or seen of another contractor again from this company. I had to call them to make sure they had not forgotten. They asked me if I would turn their pumps off for them. This should not be the homeowners responsibility. Once the job was complete, I did not even hear from this company for three months. I assumed this was the process of them going through my insurance company. They then come back on their original statement and said "sorry, the insurance will not cover it." It was at this time when they proceeded to send me a bill for a total amount that was more than three times the highest estimate I had gotten before this company said my insurance company would cover it. There is nothing about this company, and this transaction that was professional, communicated, or decent. This is extremely bad business. If anyone else has had this kind of problem with this company, please speak up. This behavior should not be acceptable.

Terrible. Total smoke show and believe they take advantage of insurance companies. Had a supply line leak in bathroom and paid less to tear out floor, and replace drywall (that didn't need to be removed) and re-tile floor for less than they charged for running fans for three days with our electricity ($4000) Post says SF California but its actually Gilbert SC

They sent up a dehumidifier to assist in drying out the ceiling voices. During our 1st conversation with USAA we told the claim rep we had own contractors Since we have done extensive renovations to our 1940s home--USAA told us we could use who we knew & were comfortable. The 2nd visit from Rumsey began 2 hours after appointment--- the Rumsey employee checked the moisture level , saying it needed another say( sunday to tuesday). On that same visit he said he needed to scan our home , stating would take 30 minutes -- took over 2 hours( nearly 5000 sq ft) ---had plans that could not be accomplished, the dehumifier had stay an additional day( Thursday) . It is understandable to scan the room receiving the damage & possibly the ajaccent areas--- but Rumsey literally scanned the entire home, opening every closet ---this was a bit unnerving. All this done for Rumsey to go behind customer's back and send a low-ball noncomprehensive quote to our insurance USAA--- it delayed our repairs. Rumsey contacted ,speaking with an unprofessional, unpolished COO Zac----claiming this long standing preferred contractor with USAA. As a USAA Member for more 25+, it clear this is not the case as Rumsey has been in business just 15+ yrs, taking advantage of both insurance companies & their customers. If you experience a home owner mishalp like water , fire, etc,---get some company--- best to professionals that are trustworthy. We were violated, our damage was in the Living room & above--- not a small home & estimate sent when we clwarly did not want one from them. Overall Rumsey not trustworthy & no respect for customers time. Sad the best COO to represent Rumsey is ZAC---NOTHING NICE TO SAY HERE---JUST STAY AWAY FROM Rumsey.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

After she could not get it unclogged, she called Roto-Rooter because it was a name she recognized. The technicians came the next day. There was an $89 fee to come out that would go toward the work, if performed. They entered my house at 1:57 p.m. and exited at 2:45 p.m. While in the house, they assessed the situation, provided an estimate, and did the work (which was to clean out the t-trap to unclog it; I don't think they had to snake it). My wife said they were very nice and professional. The charge was $550 to unclog a disposal that took 48 minutes from entry to exit. After applying a coupon for $25, the total was $529.93. Because I viewed the price as very high when she told me about it, I decided to call management. Before doing so, I called two local plumbing companies. I described the work that was done, the time it took, etc. One company said they would have charged $279, and the other said that the range for the work would be $300-$500, and this was because it was a weekend (Saturday). I called Roto-Rooter's local management and spoke to Jeremy. He was very professional and explained they charge a flat price whether a job takes 30 minutes or 3 hours. This price for this work was $550 in spite of the fact that it only took 48 minutes. He said that the fact that it was on a Saturday did not affect the price. I try to be fair in reviews, and this was my experience. I suggest you call multiple local, independent companies to get estimates if they are willing to provide them. You will likely get better value.
