(I called the Lifesaving Society to get the exact date of the submission.) As a result, the next lifesaving society course was not approved. It took me multiple calls to the Lifesaving Society and the City of Whitby. I will not return to the city of Whitby for other courses.

It has a nice-sized pool, large enough locker rooms, hot tubs, and saunas. It has a decent number of rooms in which classes are held and the lobby is pretty nice. I am not a fan of the avid disuse of the lower floor, however: it seems like a waste of space into which expansions could be made. I happen to use the health club- the gym- part of the building the most, so speaking from experience, that is where I'm taking a star off. Though the vast majority of the staff members/personal trainers are amazing people- particularly Leo- many could afford to learn a little more about working with the public. When it comes to equipment and space, there is even more room for improvement, for the health club. Most of the free-weights are pretty old, and despite quasi frequent updates, they are usually only to the machines. This is great for beginners and the elderly members of the health club, who seem to gravitate towards machines, but for the younger/more experienced members of the club that use free-weights and barbells more often, it would be nice to see some new purchases. Also, some more space would be useful, as in the past, the club has gotten rid of some useful equipment in an attempt to make more room. It should be noted that the maintenance staff and the majority of the receptionists are delightful people. I very much like how exceptionally affordable the health club is. A gym membership, personal training, swimming lessons, etc. are all amazingly economically feasible.

There is a trainer (I think his name is M.J) who is overly flirtatious with female members and in my opinion crosses the line for what is appropriate behaviour. In a fitness studio, it is important to create a safe and trusting environment where members do not have to worry about unsolicited comments that can be perceived as a sexual nature. People want to feel confortable when they're working out - they are in a vulnerable position where they worry about their body, how they look, and will often compare themselves to others. This is not the environment to be taking advantage of people's insecurities for their own personal gain. I sincerely hope that a better job can be done by the management in training employees on how to create and keep a safe space for its members.

Class and Atmosphere: The intensity is quite good with…read more500-600 calories burned on average. The class is usually divided into 60 mins: 20 mins treadmill, 20 mins weights, 20 mins rowing. The one instructor is shared amongst all areas of the class. The instructor will call out instructors for all 3 sections. There is TV screens to provide video examples of how to perform the weight-based exercises. I found that the sharing of the instructor was a bit less interactive, than other studios like F45 where you get more attention from the instructor and do not have to rely on a TV screen or peers as much. I also found the cost of the class to be a bit high considering you are more self directed on the treadmill and the rowing machines, so 2/3 of the class cost is really to do things without alot of attention or instruction. Instructor: The instructors all have decent energy, but I found that it did not push you as hard as other locations I have been to. There is one personal trainers during the class that go around and motivate you, correct your form, ensure you are pushing yourself while being safe and enjoying the class. Fitness Level: I found the instructors here tended to prioritize safety over wanting to have the highest possible intensity. I had my treadmill turned down for speed because I was going "too fast". That is something to note, that the demographic is a bit on the older age group (late 30s-50s) and if you are a young adult you may not feel motivated by your peers. I would say there are certain injuries that would be hard to do in this class. If you have a leg or back injury this would be difficult with lots of burpees, jumping, running, cycling, rowing. Those are common exercises that would be difficult to modify. Amenities: There is a water bottle station. There are areas to place your belongings but they are not locked. The stations are well cleaned, and instructors provide cleansing wipes for the equipment as you switch to different parts of the class.

If you have kids this place is a no brainer for my family of four it is cheaper then part time daycare for 1 of my kids. There are so many classes and all of them have trainers that make the classes fun and inclusive to all abilities and training levels. The gym is huge with tons of equipment and it is the only gym where equipment is ever fixed or replaced quickly and efficiently not that machines go down very often. Everyone is just so happy here and who can blame them it feels like a luxury country club and the outdoor space in the summer feels more like your on a beach resort. The whole place is always clean and well maintained. If you are thinking about booking a tour, do it. It is worth every penny.

ifetime review The…read moreWORST customer service I have EVER experienced... I'm not a member but you would think the front desk staff, Menka would treat me fairly, with decency and respect. I have been purchasing smoothies at the Lifetime Ajax location for YEARS, not everyday but on the odd occasion... mind you their smoothies are hella expensive but sooo good, so I don't mind to splurge as a paying customer. As of recently I've been repeatedly harassed, taunted and embarrassed by Menka (the front staff) in front of members of the club. Menka gets to pick and choose when I can and can't enter the facility... EVEN after I have spoken to numerous managers who have expressed that YES, though I am not a member I can still enter the facility for a snack at the Life cafe or even a spa treatment. Yesterday, I was accused of being aggressive and angry. Characterized as a hostile, ill-tempered individual in front of many members. Why would I be aggressive and angry when I've been told on numerous occasions that I'm allowed to be here? As a black women to be told your being aggressive and angry when you are simply trying to get clarification on a policy is a harmful, persuasive stereotype. Like everyone else I am entitled to express my concerns in a respectful manner and recognize that treating people with respect, dignity and understanding is the best way to get your point across. I cannot believe they have individuals representing their company and talking to potential members or ANYONE like that! I would hope she would want to deescalate the situation instead of making it worse with the false accusations and name calling, especially while she is STILL working on the floor. I have over 20+ years in customer service and I'm very aware of how to de-escalate customer issues. I too work in the yoga/fitness industry as well as the financial sector and so I am very knowledgable of how to speak to others. She needs major training to alter her bias behaviour, remarks and how to promote inclusivity, so that she can represent the company at their high standards OR find someone else who doesn't have a chip on their shoulder over a smoothie and who can manage the front desk engagement. If I could give NO star, I would honestly speaking, but during my visits, Linda and Ryan have made a powerful impact on my experience. I do want to thank them for their generosity and for coming over to console me when I was tearful, and emotionally exhausted from repeatedly explaining myself. I know where I am welcomed, and I am not welcomed at Life Time even if it's as small and insignificant as a smoothie, how she treats people at the front says a lot. When asked for an apology, Menka stated" I'm sorry YOU feel I was rude. That wasn't my intention." That's who they have working the front desk. That's the apology given, after she verbally assaulted me and embarrassed me in front of members. Unbelievable

I feel like a loser when I walk in and clean the machines/mats before and after my workout for this reason. It also wastes a lot of my time, personally. The music is awful. They have this equipment in the centre of the main floor reserved for personal training sessions. You can use the equipment, but if a session comes to push you out, that's totally fair - I understand that part. It's rarely used, anyway, though. My other thoughts, personally - if I was signing up for personal training, I would not want to be on display there in the centre of the room. Showers are absolutely terrible, if you want to keep any items dry - you cannot. Every single shower will spray onto the outside of the shower, so it's always wet. The floor is always slippery, water pressure is very scattered and aggressive. No shelving in the showers - they are awful. The pool, sauna, and hot-tub are rather fantastic, I will say. Hot tub and pool are closed on Monday so a third party company can come clean them. I like that they do that. There are no classes after 11am on Sundays. No classes at all on weekdays after 7pm. This gym could very well be 24 hours, and it's not. There are a few broken machines. The free weights are a stinky jungle after 6pm on any day - not even just weekdays. Weekend hours are only until 8pm. Overall, it's a good gym. There is plenty room for improvement. Oh the juice bar just re-opened after a 3 year hiatus! Expensive, so I haven't tried it - but it looks like a very promising menu.
