Our server Tristan was just awesome--so personable, attentive and even gave us a short history lesson about the Netherlands. All were very tasty and the prices were very reasonable. They have a full bar and we decided on getting a couple of the local beers.

It's a 5 minute ferry (Buiksloterweg) and quick walk from Centraal Station up in Noord. When their pussy isn't open, they are a "conceptual food lab" for private and public events. Their public events are things like a street dinner, where people from the neighborhood sign up to cook together and they serve it all up at once. Last night, we had a private burger workshop and it was a blast. We started with welcome cocktails and then making the buns. We then split into smaller groups to make condiments: ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise of all varieties. The sides were made, the burger patties pressed, and they even got some black-market american cheese. When we sat to eat - everything at the table WE made from scratch that evening. Pretty impressive. The staff was awesome, super chill, and knowledgeable. They give you some guidance, but you make the decisions and are encouraged to be creative. Good or bad, one bi-product of the creativity was a black licorice ketchup. I'm keeping my eyes open for their next public event but may host my own private one at some point :)

I returned a few minutes later and turned to the worker. She had the card but I was told I was leaving without paying (?!). I paid again (!). It was only when I returned from the Netherlands that I noticed that I had to pay twice for one purchase. More: it's no answer for my letter from Jumbo (!).
