Avon does a lot of things right, think their Skin So Soft body wash, their Skin So Soft bug guard plus, their bubble bath and I love their less expensive "Naturals" line of body washes, too! Their pedicure products are the absolute best around in my opinion! Pedicure products include sloughing creams, moisturizers, heel creams and more. I also love their sterling silver jewelry and typically love their annual pewter Christmas ornaments. I've gotten some nice inexpensive watches from Avon, too. I've sworn by their eyebrow pencils for ages! Their children's items are great too, such as special bath washes in cute shapes for little ones and after bath wraps designed to look like dinosaurs, or unicorns. You can't go wrong with their holiday themed décor! I've had a glow-in-the-dark Halloween ghost that adheres to windows for well over 10 years and he still looks great! It was really fun to sell Avon! Interacting with the people, actually applying the makeup products on customers, and making special Christmas themed gift baskets to sell locally, were all very very fun! When you are an Avon representative, you get an advanced brochure with (at that time) items offered at 30 percent-40 percent off. This offers the representative the opportunity to try new products at a discount! I would pass those savings on to one of my most prolific customer who had health problems and could not get out and physically shop. Long story short, I was in the Avon President's Club two consecutive years. This meant I exceeded some sales metric I've not forgotten. I think we got to pick from a ceramic "President's Club themed" tray each year. I still have mine. Like Marianne, I wish I had some of the antique Avon products and I still scour eBay for them. Yes, Avon is still around! Now in its 139th year! You can order Avon online and with a marginal minimum order, you can get free shipping! My area has an actual Avon lady and I can log into her Avon link to shop online and she gets credit for the sale. She often sells her overstocked products at a discount. Long live Avon!

When I was growing up my Mother always had sales people coming to the door. When I started school my Mother went back to work. The dedicated sales representatives scheduled their visit for evenings or weekends to keep our business. The Avon Representative was one that arranged her schedule to meet my family's needs. The Avon Lady (as we called her) became almost like a friend. My kindhearted Mother knew she relied on our business. When I returned to live at home, with my daughter in tow, I was surprised to find that my Mother still had this tradition going. I'm fortunate to say it was then three generations of Avon fans. They had cute items for children. Right from the comfort of our couch we sat and ordered bubble bath, perfume, lipstick, lotion, nail polish, and don't forget about the jewelry collection. The Avon perfume bottles are very collectible. Naturally I don't have anything left. My daughter may have the costume jewelry I gave her. If you go to their website you can shop online. They have sales and deals, in addition to recruiting sales representatives, if you need a job. I always helped out our Avon representative by bringing the latest brochure into my office and gathering up the orders, collecting the money, and then bringing my coworkers their purchase when I received it. I walked by the midtown headquarters all the time. I often thought about going in when I was between jobs!! Interesting History Tidbits: Avon's founder, David H. McConnell, initially sold books as a door-to-door salesman to New York homes. In September 1886, he decided to sell perfumes rather than books. McConnell changed the company name in 1892. His business partner suggested calling it the "California Perfume Company" because of the abundance of flowers in California where he resided. Beginning in the 1920's the name Avon was used and eventually permanently changed to Avon Products Inc. Don't ask me why!

Located opposite Holborn Station in London and fairly close to a good number of banks, this Boots…read morestore which is currently slightly hidden by ongoing construction located on Kingsway, London is a fairly small branch of Boots and quite a disappointing branch of the large British chain. The feel of the store was poor, it wasn't too modern and the selection of most items, in general, was poor, such as the drinks which were the main purpose of my visit, the store also had slightly smaller aisles and those aisles were cluttered with warehouse cages, boxes and everything which seemed to be carelessly dumped by staff and just left there getting in the way for customers, leaving the whole store to be messy, unpleasant and just seem carelessly unclean. I'm not sure if I visited on a delivery day, but visiting during the middle of the day with it is a busy, central London location you'd expect them to keep the store neat and tidy without things like this getting in the way to worsen the overall shopping experience, and especially with no staff members in sight it just seemed like an abandoned, careless mess. Normally on a case like this, I'd often give the store an extra star for the location but in my opinion, this store doesn't even justify anything over a one-star as it doesn't offer much to the location with similar stores nearby which remain at least slightly nicer and easier to shop at, this store is poor and deserves a one-star rating.

There isn't a great range of other goods, but most of the basics you'd want to buy in Boots are here. The queues to pay can sometimes be long as the store is on a busy part of Kingsway right next to a number of bus stops. The staff aren't always particularly welcoming and can be downright grumpy at times. Good for the basics or in an emergency, but not if you're looking for something out of the ordinary.

I think this is one of the reasons that the Body Shop is doing so well today. I love their shea butter moisturiser, the mango version is also very yummy but i find shea butter is better for my skin. Some I encountered last time I visited were overly friendly, some downright scary. Take the girl who rung my purchases in who was practically barking at customers about special gift deals while serving me. Inoffensive enough until I shirked the offer of an ugly Body Shop branded gift box: "£3 but 10% goes to charity". I'm sorry WHAT? £2.70 for an unremarkable cardboard box which propagates the shop's brand and doesn't even have a USP like being made by monks at dawn or anything?! The shop assistant was so unimpressed by me she looked as if she would have thrown a Naomi Campbell should a phone have been to hand. Slightly strange staff and inordinately expensive cardboard boxes aside, The Body Shop Liverpool Street is handy. Just pop upstairs to Paperchase for packaging, there's no time during this season for altercations with an affable bath and body shop's scary staff.

After searching online for different vaccination centers, I found that SuperDrug had the best price, £58 as of 10 December 2018. However with few outlets in London. SuperDrug was fully booked for most of the rest of the month. I called Clockwork, and found that they offer a walk-in service to get the vaccine for £65, including certificate, with no consultation fee. So I turned up yesterday around 2pm and everything was all finished and I was walking out with no pain at 2.30pm. The pharmacist was friendly and knowledgeable. I didn't get his name, but he was fairly young, with tanned skin and dark head and facial hair. He escorted me to the consultation room in the back and chatted with me while he prepped and gave me the shot. It all took less than five minutes, and was almost completely painless. The other 25 minutes of my visit consisted of filling out some simple paperwork and sitting off to the side while the shot was prepared. I would recommend this store for the vaccine. It also looked to have many customers for its pharmacy and a large variety of products on the shelves.

One thing I would find hard to tolerate is a bunch of school kids running around my store making…read morenoise and not wanting to buy anything. The staff here do tolerate it, which reflects well on their service. I just thought that was worth a mention. The store is huge and has just about anything you could want in the way of pharmaceutical goods and healthcare products. I bought some echinatea lollies here as the storeman told me they would be good for me. Yay for alternative medicine! The prices seem to be much better here than some of the smaller stores I have been to. I definitely find the staff to be helpful, and as I mentioned before, very patient.
