Bootchella! Clusterf*ck but so fun.
Cherylynn N.

Scanning through Bootie's pictures on Yelp made me nervous. I'm no punk rocker, mosh pit jumper. I'm just a retired party girl who now fist pumps while sitting my colossal bootie on the couch. Having to walk past junkies on the sidewalk and the Hell's Angels to get to Bootie made my granny panties bundle all up in a bunch. What da f*ck did I get myself into? THE.BEST.PARTY.IN.SF. It's no wonder that Bootie has a 4.5 stars overall rating on Yelp, has a Wikipedia page and has been voted as SF Weekly's "Best Club in SF" for seven years in row! I had the BEST grimy clusterf*ck time in my life on Saturday and I wasn't even drunk. Don't worry, Bootie is NOT a punk rock party as the pics make it seem to be. ~ * ~ * COVER * ~ * ~ *$10 before 10 pm *$15 thereafter *$15 (+$2 service fee) for advanced tickets which includes a line skip. DO this! It's worth every penny. ~ * ~ * DRESS CODE * ~ * ~ NONE. Dress down and leave your clear stripper shoes at home; you know, the ones that make your toes look like eagle talons because you'll be dancing the night and morning away (they close at 4 am). ~ * ~ * COAT CHECK * ~ * ~ $3 on the mezzanine level. ~ * ~ * BARS * ~ * ~ I lost count at 5 bars and it was quick to get a drink each time (2 minute tops). ~ * ~ * DRINKS * ~ * ~ Cash only bar (BOO!) with top shelf liquor at $9-$10 a pop. There's an ATM on both levels. Pro tip: The only exit leads you right into DNA Pizza which is open 24 hours: http://www.yelp.com/biz/dna-pizza-san-francisco#query:dna%20pizza%20lounge. Clever f*cks. ~ * ~ * STAFF * ~ * ~ Rockstar staff! The awesome bartenders are fast and work their asses off to get you your drink stat! The security are thorough and diligent with making sure there was no lingering glass bottles on tables or on the floor. ~ * ~ * MUSIC * ~ * ~ Can I give 10 stars? The BEST music I've heard from a club ever and this is coming from a girl who would party 11 days straight. The DJs did an excellent job mashing up Rap with Rock, Old Skool and Top 40s, Hip Hop and Pop and EDM. Lady Gaga never sounded so good with Snoop Dog and will.i.am nor did Kid Rock with Taylor Swift. They need a new sound system though as the beats weren't very clear. ~ * ~ * CROWD * ~ * ~ Most diverse and non-pretentious crowd I've ever encountered: from punk rockers to bollywooders, hipsters to yuppies, nerd herds to frat bros, lipstick lesbians to ladyboys, and your international buffet of regular club goers (without the attitude). Everyone was there to dance their bootie off. I was just there to minimize my Yelp bootie. ~ * ~ * DANCE FLOORS * ~ * ~ *Main room plays Mash Ups all night with live Mash Up Band show at 11 pm or 12 midnight *2nd room/lounge plays EDM *3rd room plays Hip Hop and Old Skool tracks ~ * ~ * RESTROOMS * ~ * ~ *Four janky stalls in the women's restroom on the first level with no seat covers. *sigh* There's also a unisex restroom upstairs near the hip hop room. *wink wink* ~ * ~ * PARKING * ~ * ~ Difficult street parking because of all the neighboring bars and clubs. Nearest garage is the Costco garage 2 blocks away on 10th/Bryant. $10 flat rate but closes at 2:30 am. To the AzN "Magic Mike", you owe me a new pair of whore lashes...the ones you thrusted off while stripping to Ginuwine's Pony in the hip hop room. =/

Bootie is INCREDIBLE in all the ways a club should be. Even thinking about it makes me want to shake my butt in my office chair right now. Everyone here is happy, friendly, and energetic (you can even go up on the stage to dance!). The music is great -- they play 90s music mashed with current songs, which often goes anywhere from Backstreet Boys to Katy Perry to Red Hot Chili Peppers to Britney Spears. Really great vibes. Unlike some of the other clubs in the city, Bootie is very casual and doesn't have a specific demographic. TIPS: - Arrive after midnight. 90s mashup music doesn't start until then, and people are the craziest after that time too. - If you're sure beforehand that you're going, buy tickets online. It's $15 for the ticket + $3 service fee, so you save $2. That's $2 you could be spending for 2 items on the Dollar Menu! - BRING CASH (entry is $10 before 10pm, or $20 after) -- if not for entry, then for buying drinks. There are ATMs located inside, but it's such a hassle. - Go to the bathroom before you leave for the club. Lines for the bathroom get long because there are hardly any stalls. - There's a pizza place next door. Can you say drunchies? The only negatives are that it's often jam-packed (be ready to rub up against some sweaty strangers), the lines for the bathroom can take a looong time, and sometimes you see some questionable people here. If you're in a group of friends, however, you don't really have to worry much. WARNING: People steal phones here ALL THE TIME. I've had at least 5 friends have their phones stolen at this club. It's very easy to get your stuff stolen, as everyone's just kind of jammed up together all the time. Keep your valuables close. Bootie only happens on Saturday nights, so make sure to mark that date for next weekend!

I like mashups. But when it is DJ-mixed live (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/_KsiqRiYtmRaqltOA96QZw?select=xL6I7mxuqEydP33ZI25D9Q) or performed live (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/_KsiqRiYtmRaqltOA96QZw?select=_F0WYuLD3jdDUe8wfMbkBw), then I love mashups. So, will always do Bootie when friends ask me to, hah! Located inside DNA Lounge, which is the perfect atmosphere for this event (it's cheap too, $12 cover and only $6 before 10pm). Free mashup CDs to the first 100 people in the door. The crowd is very diverse, representing all SF neighborhoods and who likes to dance, dance, dance like it's the last, last night of their life, life! This event is now on three Saturdays per month! :D Note1: Here's an example (http://www.mashstix.com/tracks/001697.php). Note2: Walter P. took great pics from one visit (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/_KsiqRiYtmRaqltOA96QZw?select=kEQ82tZTysCLqibmxB5uPw), lol. Note3: "Party Ben" shows up once in a while (look for his mixes online; good stuffs!). Also my favorite sites to check are (http://www.pheugoo.com/) and (http://www.mashstix.com/). Note4: Bootie parties worldwide: http://BootieMashup.com. Milestone: the 12,000th compliment's review...

Crowd pumped with me gloating that I got the free CD

"HOLY CRAP!!!" ...is what I was literally shouting as I implored all of my best drunken dance moves on the floor of DNA lounge this Saturday night- not because the music was crap by any means but because I was so damn impressed by the musical variety I heard and skill I witnessed that night over and over again with each transition. Ever since Mash-Ups became popular in the 00's through artists such as Girl Talk and DJ Earworm, I have been obsessed. Hungry for more, I tried to make a couple of my own (http://www.mixcrate.com/supadude/june2011-mix-59634) and for years couldn't find a good source of quality mash-up content until I experienced Bootie! The mash-ups here along with the free CD giveaways and cool acts (crazy contortionist chick was incredible) have restored my faith in the mash-up genre and left me in really good spirits. I also am fully confident that the music here has what it takes to make non-believers see that mash-ups are a lot more artful and thoughtful than just "music for people with A.D.D." Cool Contortionist Act Photo: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/_KsiqRiYtmRaqltOA96QZw?userid=QVAmRIrCxhYLqh7wl4Vlog#Jt6uEzrrAUI3k6XbziPI-w Bottom line is: HOLY CRAP YOU SHOULD GO HERE EVEN THOUGH IT'S $15 COVER AND CASH ONLY AT THE BAR!! YOU WILL HAZ MANY FUNZ. Thanks again, Bootie- see you next time!

Arghhhh Matey, why don't you spare me some bootieeee!? Lol..I've finally experienced the infamous Bootie SF last Saturday night when I finally had a Saturday night off from work. My friend asked me what I wanted to do with my night off. I replied "Dance the night away, of course!" So we met up there at 9:30pm to snag the $10 cover charge before 10pm. Of course since it was still early, there was barely anyone there at the venue yet. But later on the night, the place got so packed! The mashups were interesting, but it's definitely not really quite my cup of tea. There's definitely of variety of people in the club. Thank goodness for diversity! I'm not really a fan of clubs that always have the majority of Asians. Lol.. There was a drag show which would be my first time to see one. It was pretty amusing & seemed like the "ladies" do have a splendid time on stage. Oh wait..I have seen a drag show before at AsiaSF. Lol fun time. Overall, I had a pretty good time here. Would I go back? Maybe.

My friend visiting from Oregon celebrating her 41st birthday with the inflatable pirate .. too much fun .

I had the time of my life .... literally. Considering the several night outs I had in my 20's and 30's , this really was one of the best nights out in my lifetime and I was sober . I took my friend here for her 41st birthday , considering our awful experience at Opal in Mountain View (what was I thinking?) , I wanted to take her to a good SF night club with good music since she flew here all the way from Portland , OR. We got here at 10pm and stayed there till close . The crowd was good and not so overly crowded that we were rubbing up against people we didn't want to .. lol . Not to mention, the music wasn't so loud my ears were ringing after 5 minutes . Parking was only like a block away , not bad at all. I will be back for sure cause there's good times to be had here. Totally worth the 50 minute drive and not going to bed till 6am !

Not only was he an excellent communicator during the planning process, but he even helped us secure a photo booth vendor. Every step of the way, he handled my VERY specific requests with patience, creativity, and zero judgment. On the wedding day, he truly facilitated the entire event from start to finish. He kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes while still bringing such fun, warm energy to every moment. Our ceremony music was flawless, transitions were seamless, and the dancing portion of the night was exactly what I envisioned (dancing is my FAVORITE part of weddings, so this was very important to me!). He absolutely nailed the announcements and kept the vibe consistent and elevated. We received compliments about how fun the dancing portion was, and Edgar played a huge part in that. He read the room perfectly and knew exactly how to keep the energy high without ever feeling forced. It was important for us to have diversity among our vendors, but also to have someone who intuitively understood the music preferences of my Filipino family. At the same time, Edgar's music knowledge spans everything, including the genres I love most, which made the night feel both culturally familiar and uniquely tailored to us. Professional, fun, attentive, and genuinely talented, Edgar helped make our wedding unforgettable and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for DJ services for ANY event!!! I reached out and he set up a 30 minute call for us to see if we would be a good fit. From this call, I gathered that Jeremy is competent & extremely organized. It didn't take long after for my fiancee and I to sign our contract with him. Once we were committed, Jeremy prepped us for what was to come. We needed to fill out several lists of music for different moments in our wedding. We booked Jeremy over a year out so we had plenty of time to do this. A month out from our wedding, we hopped on another call to go through the wedding timeline. Jeremy & Jeannine were once again very organized. The meeting was over rather quick and we felt well-prepared for the day of the wedding. On the day of, Jeremy & Jeannine showed up on time. It didn't take long for them to set up. It was obvious that they had worked this venue before - they were so calm the whole time. The night was over so quick without so much as a hiccup from them. That's also a good description of our whole experience with Jeremy & Jeannine. From start to finish, it did not take much effort from me & my now-wife. I cannot praise them enough. If I could go back and plan for my wedding again, I would not hesitate to choose Jeremy & Jeannine again.

They didn't just meet that vision -- they blew past it. From the moment the music started, the entire space was transformed. The lighting alone turned a basic banquet room into a full-on club -- festive, electric, and instantly exciting. The photo booth added nonstop silliness and memories, and the kids LOVED it. But the real star of the night was MC Anthony. He is not just an MC -- he's a hype man, a game-show host, a magician, and a kid-whisperer all rolled into one. He had games, contests, call-and-response moments, and the kind of inclusive energy that makes every kid feel comfortable jumping in. Everyone was on the dance floor. Laughing. Moving. Taking risks.
