Had a mixed experience at this quirky store. You must bring your patience, as only the owner, Kevin, was waiting on customers. It took over two hours to buy a pair of boots! Owner is very knowledgeable but also very odd. Said the same things over and over. Not efficient way to run a business. Store had some odd decor, including an alligator skin mounted on the ceiling and a very sexist T-shirt for sale. On the plus side, hubby left with very nice boots. read more

Kevin and Gabe were helpful as always. I've bought several pairs of boots from them now and will continue going back. They take the time to make sure I get a properly fitting boot and now to care for the boots. I had previously purchased from boot barn and had nothing but pain in my feet and knees. Service is horrible!! The people who own this business are very rude, so rude I'm just flabbergasted as I stand outside their store waiting for my 18yr old son inside. The man owner runs the show and repeats himself constantly and then he yelled at me because I brought notes into the store with me and I was writing my sons shoe size down and he yelled at me and told me I don't need to write anything down and wanted to know what exactly was on my paper. The woman sat behind a desk looking at pictures on a computer. When I asked her where we find the prices on the boots she said you have to talk to David (I'm probably wrong with his name bc I can't remember it for sure) he will measure you foot and every boot is different and different size. I said I just want to know how much a man's work boot is. She said you have to be measured and fitted and first, I said before I can know the price? She said yes. I have never been treated so poorly by the owner of a business in my entire life. It's disgusting and I would never give them a penny of hard earned money for someone, now some two's who are so ungrateful to have business that's no small potatoes either were talking $300-$600 is what we planned on spending on boots. They don't care and think they are the best so we should appreciate them not the other way around. read more

I needed new boots so I stopped by boot barn in the mall, stood around for about ten minutes, and then got told they didn't have what I was looking for, and I should check their website. I won't be going back there. I went in to the boot shack and was immediately asked how I could be helped. Andy promptly introduced himself to me, and I told him what I was looking for (lace up ropers). He informed me how that style of boot was no longer as popular and explained what choices he could provide me with. We then measured my feet, tried on a couple pairs and then I left with a pair of Justin work style lace up ropers. Andy explained how to care for the boots, their philosophy when it came to selling boot, and the difference in quality in my new american made boots compared to my old Chinese (Ariat) boots. I had an excellent experience, and I would recommend this business to anyone who still enjoys shaking hands over a good deal from good people. read more

My 15 year old Justin's were shot and so we planned to make a trip to St Cloud for boots and lunch at the Texas Roadhouse (good place!). I walk a lot of manufacturing floors so I wanted lightweight, rubber soles and wanted to try the Ariat Heritage boots specifically. I got to the Boot Shack and Sam was nice but she had been schooled in how to get people into more expensive boots. She said they carried some ariat but, "the fit like boxes." She then sized me from my usual 9.EE to a 12A. The Tony's she brought out actually fit pretty nice but they were way more heavy than I wanted. The tiny place was busy and I waited for bit then we decided to go have lunch. I squeezed past the owner who was helping someone at the doorway and told him we were getting lunch and would be back. He then stopped helping that person and asked me what the problem was, service, price? I told him I didn't even know what the price was here but it's noon and we would come back after lunch. Then getting a little confrontational he said, "You know, people will say that and then never come back." He then went on to tell me that people drive from states over to come to the shop. I was fine with the place up to this point. I'm not getting guilted into buying your stuff. We went to the Boot Barn in the mall and Eric sized me as a 9.5E. He brought out the Ariat Heritage ones I wanted to try. They fit great and he made the sale. read more

I wear size 11 D they said I needed size 12 B after about month I thought I would need a knee transplant I could barely walk, I never thought the wrong size boot could do so much damage. Very cute little store, very friendly , nice people work there, priced not bad for a specialty store . Narrow boots might work for some ? But I think they tell everyone they should wear a narrow boot and I'm out $260 lesson learned read more

I went into the boot shack last winter to get some boots thinking it would be a great local place to buy some nice boots. I went into the place that was really busy so I thought, "great, they must really be a good place to buy from". I looked around at some boots and saw one I liked so I asked to see it in my size that I've been wearing for years and got told that I needed to get sized first because "95% of people that come in here have narrow feet". After waiting for him to bounce around to various customers for a better part of two hours he brought out the boot in a different color because they didn't have the one I wanted in my size. They said they could order it in for me and they would ship it to me since I live 3 hours away. Awesome, great service! Everything up to this point was awesome besides hearing the same 2 sentences from the guys mouth and being pretty pushy and arrogant. A few days later I got a call from Deb and she told me it would be 4-5 months for that boot to come in since it was newer. I didn't want to wait that long so I told her I would like to get issued a refund. After some chatter about how they have the best selection and everyone has narrow feet they finally agreed to give me a refund in the form of a mailed check. Another two weeks goes by and I get a voicemail that the boots I ordered came in so they wanted me to buy them. I told them that I was sorry and that I bought them elsewhere because I was told it would be months for them to come in. I got the same everyone has narrow feet and we have the best selection in the country speech again. Fast forward to a couple days ago, I called them to see what the boot size was that they sized me for and was told the computers were busy and they would call me back. I got a call back from Kevin and he proceeds to tell me "Oh this is the guy who I ordered boots for and then wanted a refund after I tried to call you multiple times and got hung up on". WOAH, where did that come from? I was never once rude or hung up, I simply wanted a refund because I did not want to wait that long. Then he goes on to tell me that they have the best selection and that they have my boots and can ship them to me and that they ship all over the world. I told him again I bought the boots somewhere else and asked him how I was rude prior and that I didn't hang up on him. He kept asking if he can ship me the boots and I said no sorry. They can take me off of their customer list, I don't think 11.5B when I've been wearing 10.5D for years is correct anyway. Worst service, most arrogant owner, and extremely pushy. read more

Me and my gf went here about a yr ago we both needed steel toe boots for work they had a nice selection of boots but the owner was rood he asked me y I needed steel toe boots about 5 times and was very rood to my gf cause she wanted a pink pair we finally walked out and went to the boot barn in the mall read more

Highly recommended for Workboots and running shoes. If they don't have your size or width, it doesn't exist. They actually know how to use a Brannock Device (shoe scale) and schooled me in footwear sizing. Like many people wearing improperly fitting shoes, I hadn't had my feet measured in years. Turns out, I'm a 13.5B and I had been wearing a 12D or E. Highly insightful. My feet have never been happier. I don't know what "M B." is talking about; maybe he came on an insane busy day. Granted, I was not shopping for cowboy boots, which they specialize in, but nevertheless, there must be more to his story as I've received excellent service from Kevin and Andy. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff who help me with my boot purchase. Kind of a small place with a wide range of cowboy boots and western wear. However they were able to carried the welding I need for my occupation. Would go back for future business. read more

The Boot Shack is a trip. First, you can hardly tell it's there because it is tacked on the back of a building that has a working man's bar/restaurant in the front. Then it's a little place with wall to wall boots. Then the guy (Andy) measures my foot and tells me that I've been wearing the wrong size all my life and that I'm a 15 AAA. I think, Ok, fine, it's an adventure of some kind. Then he comes out with the plain ordinary boots that I ask for and also with a box with 'what I should have' (he says). I put on the ordinary boots and they felt fine. They were down there, and producing no pain points or anything, no big deal. Then he pulls out these Rod Patrick things and I pull them on and my feet say, 'Wow, where have you been all my life'. It was cool. read more

The Boot Shack's owner Kevin seems knowledgeable about boot fit. However, you walk in and see all these great looking boots, but all of his inventory is in about 6 different styles and all the sizes within those styles. You can't pick out a style that visually looks good to you and fit from there. It has a bait and switch feel, unfortunately. read more

Horrible experience and the owner himself treated us like crap. My family and I have gone to Boot Shack for years and have bought many pairs of boots from them. However, when my sister and I went to shop for boots for my wedding, we were treated horribly. The salesman (which I later found out was Kevin Durken, the OWNER) repeatedly ignored my requests for the type of boot I wanted and my price limit. After an hour of this, he had not even asked my sister if she was interested in the pair of boots she had been holding in her hands that whole time. When I told the salesman that I had made a decision and wanted him to help my sister, he took us aside and accused us of wasting his time, was paranoid that we were going to leave and buy on the internet, and told me that the only way he would help my sister is if I bought the boots I thought I wanted first, pretty much trying to force the sale. After this treatment, we left. Needless to say, my family and I will NEVER give them our business again. read more
