I'd like to spotlight that they now carry Frye & Co., the lower-price line of The Frye Company! I don't often seen this, so it was a pleasure to be able to try on this shoe. As always, the sales are bountiful, but they removed their sale price calculator based on the color of the tag. Found my self hesitant to purchase because I didn't know the actual price unless I asked an employee. There were many putting inventory on the floor, but none greeted me, as they seemed like they were very busy despite only a few other customers. The location was exceptionally clean, with no shoes littering the floor like you'd see in department stores or clearance racks elsewhere. Every shoe had a pair, and different styles had plenty size options. There was only 1 or 2 styles that didn't have my size (7.5w). Each shoe also had multiple colorways, which allows you to choose from a variety of options based on your personal needs. I came in looking for a business casual shoe and unfortunately could not find any that fit my high arches (no fault to DSW). However, the options were plentiful for a standard, basic shoe. For statement pieces and more modern, trendy looks, I'd probably recommend you look somewhere else. But if a basic heel or sneaker is what you need, stop by!

Upon reaching the register I had to ask because the signage is not real clear unless you see shoes on a solo rack out in aisle pathways. Luckily we found a good sandal. Not sure if I don't like having the tiered clearance per usual business.

Once I received my confirmation that my order was ready for pickup, I was sent instructions on where to park and a link that notified them I was there for my order. He got on it and rode, then came right back and said the brakes do not work. Sure enough, they did not. I looked online, and there were reviews even on Academy's site saying the same thing. I took the bike back to the store, but they would not return it. They said I had to deal with the manufacturer. That turned out to be a nightmare, as they give you the runaround filling out forms, taking pics and videos, etc, only to what they said was them wanting to send me some parts so that I would have to work on it myself. I looked at Academy's website after being fed up, and it turns out that their policy says that the store should have returned it. The bottom line is that Academy is selling merchandise for kids that is dangerous and defective, and they know about it. Then they refuse to return it. Stay far away from this company. I'm still dealing with the issues months later, and they could care less.

Wow, this place brings me back! I remember coming here twice a year growing up for summer and…read moreschool tennis shoes, just thinking EVERYONE gets ugly shoes right? Oh the naivety of childhood...of course, who could blame my mother? Being a mom of 4 kids, she's seen a lot of money wasted on shoes outgrown and outworn. I went in here for nostalgia's sake, I seriously haven't stepped foot in a Famous Footwear since 1992. And it was exactly the same as I remember. Row upon row of ugly brand name sneakers, slip on's and sandals, moderately priced and shiny new. It even had that same smell (dirty carpet and leather)! I really wasn't looking to buy, so I didn't look to hard to see what they were selling. But noticed all of the necessary shoe accessories--like socks, leather protector, shoe laces, and shoe horns. I will be a mom soon, and will probably be buying cheap-o shoes (and cheap-o a lot of things) for my kid before they realize how their style is being sacrificed. So this place will be on my list

There was only a couple of options that I liked and I wasn't paying $90 for the stereotypical Birkenstocks. Overall FF has a decent selection of shoes. Many varieties of tennis shoes, a bunch of canvas shoes (where did the Rocket Dogs go???) More women's shoes than men's or children's shoes. Prices range from cheap to overpriced. It just really depends on what you want whether they are cheap or expensive.

The main attractions for me are the Ferris wheel, the aquarium entry area and the cafe (+ sweets store). However, they have so much more to offer. It has departments for all sorts of team sports, all types of outdoor and adventure sports like fishing or hunting, fitness, footwear, games, toys, apparel, home goods and more. Do not forget to have the pizza and fudge at the cafe after a long stroll at the store. Also on the second floor they have beautiful taxidermy animals areas which is a fantastic site. It can get busy on the weekends so plan your visit accordingly because it's hard to get parking outside the store. Overall it's a clean, huge store with super friendly staff and a must visit if you're in the area!!

It's totally one part corporate, crisp, functional retail goods store, and another part taxidermy animals, rides, fudge, and hunting & fishing gear like you'd find at Bass Pro. We took our kids here on a winter break, gray day and it was a lot of fun. First off, there's a mini aquarium when you walk in -- it's nothing to write home about, but it gets the kids attention and they realize right away this is a fun store. From there, you can't miss the gigantic ferris wheel in the middle of the store. Gonna be real, it's fun and worth the wait but also a bit nerve wracking. Something is just odd about quietly swaying at the top of a department store quietly for such a long time. My daughter was like, "Dad, I'm scared to look down!" and all I could think was, "so am I, kid, so am I." We both agreed it's pretty fun once it gets going. There's also a little bowling area where you get five frames for a buck, and ditto to a little arcade game area as well. There's toy stores, outdoor goods, quality brands of clothes and outfitting, and really a nice answer to online shopping. In fact, it feels like malls used to feel in the 90's but a modern spin on everything. We did eat here but I'd say skip it. I didn't find anything I wanted and when I went to finish off my kids chicken tenders I was super underwhelmed and ended up pitching them. I will say at this time they carry Sylas & Maddy's ice cream (best IC in the city IMO) so that was a nice surprise treat. What more could you want if out shopping with the kids?! It's a great spot to kill a quiet afternoon.
