As someone with some scientific expertise in what is natural and what is good, I find this is overly simplistic and misleading. Nonetheless, if you drop in, I suspect you'll find that it holds true for everything they have here. I have tried a few local smoothie places, and while this isn't the cheapest one, it seems clearly the best. Of course, anyone can throw some stuff in a blender; I suspect juice bars persist largely because it's difficult for most of us to manage the logistics of keeping fresh fruit at home. But here, they're not just doing the grunt work for you, they're bringing some serious skill to the table. Could I use dragonfruit and coconut and get something that looks and tastes like bubblegum? I'm guessing not. Could I duplicate their wondrous "whipped fruit", a sort of fresh coconut ice cream made right in front of me? Not a chance. Their creations are both delicious and innovative, and I've not found an average one yet (and I've tried quite a few). The proprietor says he's from Brazil, which would explain why he is so good with topical fruits. It's a neighborhood vibe kind of place, and there's a decent chance of free samples. If something is on special, I suggest trying it. Most of what they use is fresh fruit and nut milks and coconut water and they are mostly vegan (save for a few clearly labeled pastries), making this establishment friendly to most customers. Besides their smoothies and bowls, a mouthwatering assortment of salads and baked desserts beckons. I still haven't tried any of those for fear of getting addicted, and if it instead turns out that they're terribly underwhelming in some way, I suppose I'll go back and revise this place's rating down again. Doesn't seem likely.

It's tucked up in with Guzman Y Gomez and soon to be Hatch & Go in Post Office Square, and given their take-away service, it's also the perfect location to grab your meal and enjoy a moment eating it on the grassy knolls of PO Square. It seems Thrive was founded by a guy heavily into paleo, however, the space itself is not preachy-paleo. It's just healthy options in an easy to obtain format. You pick 2 bases for your bowl. It might be brown rice and leafy greens or mashed sweet potato and baby spinach. Then you add your protein. They've got a selection of several proteins from pesto chicken to a delicious sounding sesame salmon. The rest is left to your choice of sides: hard-boiled eggs, avocado and more. The entree size is ample for a filling lunch and by the time you had a few sides easily creeps into the $11-15 range. Not keen on a full meal? Don't stress. Their smoothies are virtually meals in a cup and, not knowing this fact, ordered their spin on a salted caramel smoothie with banana, cashew butter, dates, sea salt and almond milk. This might be my new go-to on Summer days when the thought of anything but liquids is too much to contemplate.
