The Boon Docks in Panama City Beach, Florida, is a casual, reliable spot for fresh seafood, right on the water with great views of the intercoastal waterway. Food and service are consistently solid. I prefer it for lunch--the reasonably priced specials make it a perfect midday choice.

The entrance. It looks small but t is sprawling!

I was looking for a best in class seafood place in PCB and found this on the interwebs... Yelp being out of commission at the time. It was well recommended (2 of 10 best) and about 5 miles, so headed over. It is definitely not on the main drag. If you don't intend to be there you wouldn't ever stumble across it. And. It is a magical place. From the parking lot through to the back rooms. Parking lot sprawls under massive live oak trees dripping with Spanish moss. The rambling buildings are such a throw back to real people and real places and old Florida that I wanted to cheer. We got there about 6:30 on a Saturday night and had a 45 minute wait made delightful for the rooms full of really nice gift items, t-shirts and clothing, all very reasonably priced. Then the waiting area goes out to the docks and you can get a cocktail (cash only) while you wait for your table. Seriously best margarita I have ever had - all home made and fresh squeezed. We were seated at a table looking out over the water and under the bridge. All the tables are a mishmash of comfy styles - all very down home and cheerful. The service is great. The food was excellent. We started with the bacon wrapped shrimp, then had either the Grecian Grouper or a plate of fried oysters and scallops. Delicious. And I hate hush puppies but gobbled theirs up! Crispy and light as air. We loved Boon Docks and look forward to coming back with more friends. Thank you!!

The food was good and the atmosphere was nice! Green beans were too over seasoned. Little pricey for what you get but it was good.

Rustic in a nice way, lots of good old fried food, but plenty of others to choose from. Had a margarita very good. Gumbo was good needed a bit more spice and a few more "goodies" except the very small popcorn shrimp and okra, no andoulle sausage but did have white rice added in. The deep fried crab claws were very good as was the bacon wrapped shrimp! Fries good, fried okra plentiful and good, all in all good food although I found the old wood chairs uncomfortable.

My family loves the Boondocks and they had to take me, my wife, and stepson for the first time. First of all, very scenic with the pier out back looking at the bay. Second, this is for the fellow non-seafood eaters like me. The chicken tenders might be the best I have ever had from a seafood restaurant. They are fresh and have a cornmeal type breading. I chose cream corn and slaw as my sides. Cream corn was good but the slaw was on the dry side. We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer. They make their ranch in-house and we couldn't get enough of it with the pickles. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! Try Boondocks for seafood and non-seafood eaters.

My fish ,shrimp, oysters, stuffed crab was all delicious. My wife had a steak and she loved it too.Service was great as usual and we were seated immediately. We sat at the bar and it was nice atmosphere. You can also go outside on the water and enjoy a cool beverage.Again it is highly recommended by The Working Man Review.

Very nice view or intercostal waterway. Everything we have eaten is really good. The gumbo is the best on the coast.

Do they take reservations for big parties?

Yes, I believe they do. You'll want to call during business hours to talk to someone is my suggestion.

This "surfer bar" is decorated exactly as you are imagining, right on the beach beside the pier. So, this place does have something going for it. Our server, Anna, was delightful, pleasant, attentive, and helpful. Our food was a mixed review however. As suggested, the gator bites were very good. They were lightly fried and not at all chewy or rubbery as can sometimes be the case. The accompanying dipping sauce was a nice compliment. The Caesar salad was fresh and the dressing tasty. The blackened grouper on top was good, but a bit too salty. The grouper taco bowl was tasty as well. The saltiness of the grouper was masked by the other flavorings in the bowl. The grilled grouper sandwich however, left nowhere for the over salted fish to hide. It was barely edible, and in fact needed copious amounts of ketchup to consume, even then my "clean the plate" husband left some behind. Two highlights of the experience though were the beginning and the end. The De-Stresser cocktail did as the name described. And we finished the meal with one of the largest pineapple Dole whips I've ever seen. It was delicious. So, a pretty mixed review for is on this visit. Hopefully, it was just an off lunch day.

The host was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made for a great first impression. Our waiter was phenomenal. I had a little trouble understanding him because of his accent, but he was attentive, kind, and provided excellent service throughout our meal. I ordered the jerk chicken with mac and cheese and broccoli, and everything was absolutely delicious. The sweet tea was probably the best I've ever had! Every bite was flavorful, and you could tell a lot of care went into the food. I also have to mention how clean and well-maintained the restaurant was, especially the restroom. It's always something I notice and appreciate. As a bonus, they had FIFA playing on one of the TVs, which my husband really enjoyed watching while we ate. Thank you to everyone at Salty Sue's for the amazing food and outstanding service. We'll definitely be back!

On the other hand, it took 54 minutes from the time we ordered until our food arrived, which was the one significant negative of the evening. Overall, we really enjoyed the food. I ordered the BBQ plate, and the pulled pork was excellent--juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The jerk seasoning on the chicken leg was outstanding, some of the best I've had. Unfortunately, the leg quarter itself was a bit dry, which is surprising for dark meat. My guess is that it had been cooked ahead of time and held or reheated because of the heavy demand. Even so, the seasoning helped make up for it. The brisket was sliced very thin and came from the point, so there wasn't an option for the fattier brisket that I personally prefer. That said, it was still very good. The mustard greens were cooked with plenty of hot sauce, and I thought they were fantastic. I also ordered an Old Fashioned, but it had so much orange pulp from the muddled orange slice that it was difficult to drink. There were a few signs that not everything is made from scratch, but the food was genuinely good overall. Despite the long wait, I'd definitely come back.

Their website has a "Make a Reservation" button, and when you book, you receive a confirmation…read moreemail confirming your reservation. Imagine our surprise when we arrived and Bella told us they don't actually take reservations. Instead, the "reservation" simply keeps you from being at the very bottom of the waitlist. It's a "priority system" whatever that means. We still had to wait another 45 minutes past our reservation time before being seated. I feel like I am in the seinfield episode saying you know how to take a reservation you just don't know how to keep it. That felt incredibly misleading. If the restaurant already has a same-day waitlist feature on its website, why not just use that instead of calling it a reservation? That experience put a real damper on the evening. The food was good, but I can't get past what felt like a deceptive reservation system. The reason this review is 2 stars instead of 1 is our server, Mika. She was outstanding--polite, hardworking, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a good experience once we were finally seated. It was some of the best customer service I've received in a long time. The only reason I would consider coming back is because of her.
