To be honest, the breakfast wasn't amazing. I got the formulae Salee with the eggs and bacon, juice and coffee, and the basket of bread, of course. My wife did not - she just got a couple of a la carte items, and we both got a croissant. I'm going with 5 stars for a couple of reasons. One, coffee was excellent. My cappuccino was delicious, but every one of them was during this trip. Second, it's hard to find an american breakfast - it just isn't their thing. Third, the eggs and bacon were very good (but it was just scrambled eggs and bacon). Fourth, the croissant was delicious. Maybe I'm just so happy to have gotten a regular breakfast. The shop is very nice and seems like a great place to work if you need to. Its spacious and the staff was very friendly. Great place for breakfast/ lunch. I stopped by for a lunch on a weekday and I waited about five minutes to find a table. Salad lunch combo (formule) was excellent. Salad was seasoned with base of balsamic vinegar and basil pesto on top. In this very meat-heavy country, I was glad to find something I could eat (and enjoy). They were so busy each step of service took a little longer than I'd have liked. But at least they were all very friendly and helpful. read more

Excellent coffee and comfortable seating. Food is also great. This is really a unique place with amazing atmosphere.

We went to Books & Coffee on a Sunday morning and LOVED it! We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. On Sundays, they have a set menu for 22€, which seemed to be a pretty good value. You get a choice of hot drink, a choice of mimosa or orange juice, a choice of three eggs benedict options, a choice of two pancake options, AND a choice of dessert! It was so fun to enjoy a leisurely brunch with friends in this super cute atmosphere. The staff was super friendly (spoke English), and everything was delicious!! A coffee shop like I love them. Let me tell you why: First of all, they have a wide (very wide) range of teas of all sorts. I had a spiced black tea, which was just delicious. You can order them in a pot, or single cup. You'll probably get 4 cups our of a pot...perfect deal when you are there for a while. Then, if like me you love working in coffee shops, this place is for you: they have free wifi and a very relaxed atmosphere with chilled, not-too-loud music. I think they also have yummi pastries and cakes but I have not tried them yet. Guess I'm going to have to go again..! read more

A great cafe with an awesome vibe. Unfortunately we must have came on a bad day. We were promptly seated and the service was excellent however the food and coffee was not at the same standard. We had the brunch menu - coffee was cold which was quite surprising given the professionalism of the cafe itself. The food had been prepared beforehand so was cold and stale. I did enjoy the yoghurt but for 23€ I would have been just as satisfied with yoghurt from the supermarket. I also came to this particular cafe on a Sunday to get some writing done but was asked to put my laptop away. A disappointing way to start the day but the cafe itself is great venue. read more

If coffee isn't your deal, they have a bunch of tea (that I need to try) as well. :) The atmosphere was calm and quiet, but you could still have good conversation. Our favorite breakfast (it was actually brunch) in Bordeaux. Pancakes with fruit and maple syrup, eggs Benedict, salad, and blueberry crumble. The French press coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice were excellent. The service was quick and attentive. Atmosphere inside is nice and not crowded, but would have rather sat outdoors. This is an excellent coffee shop for people who like to taste their coffee. I highly recommend a Chemex pot (especially for Americans) but please don't ruin it with cream and sugar. These folks know how to brew coffee correctly so that you can actually taste it! read more

I arrived there, was told to sit to have my order taken, waited at least 10 minutes, then when the waiter came, he looked right at me, then took the order of a group that had come in well after me. (I had to flag down a manager just to get my order taken) Thats extremely bad customer service, and also there's no wifi. Ended up spending 6 euros on coffee and getting no work done. There's a million cafes and restaurants in the area that offer a better value. read more
