It had that fun, slightly chaotic "treasure hunt" vibe where you can easily lose track of time just browsing through the boxes of comics. Whether you're into classic issues or newer releases, there was a huge variety to dig through. Beyond the comics,the store also had an impressive selection of figures and collectibles. There were displays filled w/ characters from different franchises, and it was really cool seeing how much variety they carried. It's def the kind of place where you keep spotting something new. The overall vibe of the shop was very laid-back & welcoming. It felt like a space made for true fans, where you can take your time, explore,& just enjoy being surrounded by everything comic and pop-culture related. The young lady who helped me was talkative & friendly. She rung me out quickly & efficiently. You could catch a couple of deals but for the most part the everything was MRSP listed prices. I collect magnets so I scored a horror one from the movie The Lost Boys. Overall, it was a really fun visit. If you're into comics, figures, or just collecting cool items, this is def the kind of shop you could spend a long time in w/o even realizing it. If you're looking for old stock to complete a collection, chances are, this is where you want to be. Majority of the warehouse *is* old stock with a smaller section for newly released comics. To me that's not really a downside because if you wanted new comics you could go literally anywhere else. But if you're looking for treasures, hard to find older issues, or just older comics in general that you want to read and don't care about the resale value or the condition it's in, this is the place for you. It's a place for collectors and enthusiasts that are searching because they want to own something, not because they're trying to hold it for resale. As for me, I was able to grab Star Wars IV, V, VI in comic form which I never even knew they made, just $5 each. I think this is a must-visit for comic lovers and I'm SO glad our uncle brought us here. Even if you aren't looking for anything, you really need to go just to see how many comics are on these shelves. It's mind-blowing.

It's set in the 1920s with the Harlem Renaissance as the backdrop]. The first issue came out in November 2018, but I didn't stumble across the series until 2021. I enjoyed it tremendously and became obsessed with finding an original copy of the first issue to frame. Thus, I embarked on a journey to find it and after hitting up a bunch of comic shops in the city, to no avail. Months later, randomly, I decided to check out Galaxy Comics after meeting a friend for coffee, nearby, in the area. This was not in my original tour but I wish it had been. Not only did they have the first issue of Bitter Root, they had the next four too. Of course, I bought them all. Since then, I've been back a few times to stock up on comics. The vibe there is super chill and the staff really know their stuff. It's not the closest shop to me but I keep going because they always have what I'm looking for... even the older, harder-to-find titles.

This month is AAPI heritage month and their sign caught my eye on some books to read by Asian American authors which I was able to purchase here. They have a vast amount of books for an open book store, 50% seem to be children's books. Although the genres here are quite minimal compared to well-known establishments, there seems to be a vast amount of titles to peruse through from fictional, non fictional, art books, political, cookbooks, coffee table books and more. They also sell local NYT artist Adrian Tomine's framed prints here. The checkout experience was "my-bad". I had forgotten to bring my tote ever since NYC switched to a plastic bag ban policy. So I ended up purchasing a brown paper bag with handles for $.25. Well... learned my lesson! Keep your books safe... Bring a tote bag! Accepts cash and card only. Support local!

The display cases are full of gaming cards, and there's a line of tables for card gaming, and the comics they do hAve are so packed in the wall shelf that they're almost bending from the weight and pressure of the book. Also they never get any variants. All the variants they would get are sent to their Flatbush location because they sell for more there. Despite everything, this store is nice, because they're so helpful and those two old folk are just adorable.

I love everything about this bookstore; The smell, the look, the no pressure vibe, the books, the stuff. You get the idea. Also, Andrew is a gem. He is nowledgeable, helpful, funny and very personable. My hubby was with me and he found some comic books and left very happy. I purchased a cookbook and will return for a couple of really cute Lego sets. All thumbs up fingers AND toes!!

A few weeks ago, I came for Richard Scarry-themed Inciardi prints and a new book but stayed for the quaint yet busy atmosphere where turning every corner feels like uncovering a hidden literary world. The kids area in the back is ADORABLE and features a little reading cave. In love with the cookbooks and architectural books around there, too.
