Really love this nice sized bookstore. Randomly walked in and was greeted. The young guy asked who my favorite author is and he told me that he had just released a book and he had some first edition signed copies! UMMMMM WHAT?!?? Literally have read every book by this particular author so I was OVER THE MOON!! Yes this isn't a discounted half price, 1.25 for an awesome rare gem of a book but for sure they had some nice ranges of material. Had a cute cafe in the back Restrooms were clean Didn't feel like you were being rushed or watched. I took my time, found some other books I liked and just coasted there each area. They had a nice size conference meeting space in the back that people were occupying and seats outside. No complaints!

Great place to grab lunch, coffee & read a book. The staff is very friendly. The book store & cafe are in an old renovated department store.

Nice Bookstore with Cat Alley Cafe in the back of the store. Fresh made sandwiches, salads, beverages, and 2 soups daily. The food is good, and prices are reasonable. So next time you're shopping for a great book, grab a bite & a coffee.

This was a cozy little indie bookstore in downtown Manchester. Right when you walk in, the windows are lined with honeycomb shelves that in this case, featured a series of pink and red books for February. Brightly lit with full, street-facing windows, the front area has tons of cute gifts and plenty of room to shop with a little café in the back. It is small, so the book selection isn't huge, but I felt like it was really well-curated for the space available. A little something for everyone and some books that I don't regularly see at some of the bigger stores. A must stop for any booklover who is in the area.

Delicious drinks & wonderful, helpful staff. There's nothing better than sipping some tea or espresso and reading a book here.

The Bookery is really cute. To be honest, I don't ever really buy anything there, it's just fun to walk around and look at their stuff. It's pretty well curated. I mainly come here for their coffee and food selection during my lunch breaks. Coffee is good but a bit overpriced. Their meals are actually delicious - I really like their soups and chili. Although, they serve it lukewarm at times. It does comes with a side of cornbread which is one of the best I've had. It's sweet and moist, you must try it! The grilled cheese and charcuterie board are also well done. I'm giving them 3-stars though because the service at the cafe is all over the place. Sometimes they are quick - other times they are extremely slow and look flustered. Oh and employees at the front of the store are usually never friendly.

    Cute collection of stuff!

I really enjoyed the vibe of this independent bookstore in Elm Street. It was low-key and I felt comfortable to just browse and look at my leisure. I liked that the staff was friendly but not all up in my business, so to speak. It was really chill, which I liked a lot. They have a small collection of greeting cards, but each one is an absolute banger. Personally I'd rather have a smaller selection of good stuff than a large selection of middle of the road stuff; that's what box stores are for.

The bookery is one of those places I want to keep a secret because it's so GREAT. But I feel like if I want to be a decent human being I should share it with the rest of the world. This is by far my favorite place to get a coffee and/or food. The atmosphere is beautiful, very artsy. The cooks are from outer space, everything my boyfriend and I have had to eat was out of this world amazing!!! I almost cry when I take my first bites of this salad, and then I do cry when I've finished it... because it's gone. My favorite, the Ruby Quinoa Slaw!! Everything is SO fresh and crisp it's outstanding and baffling for how cheap it is. I've attached the part of the menu that describes what's in this salad. Also, theyre bakery items look PHENOMENAL AND SO TASTY. ALSO also, they have a beautiful variety of non dairy milk which pleases the vegan in me:) LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH, I cry.

Such a wonderful bookstore and cafe! While exploring Manchester, NH I stopped here mid-morning to warm up from the chilly weather and to kill some time. Their gluten free turkey black bean chili was amazing and I enjoyed time spent reading in front of their fake fireplace on a very comfy side. They had a modest, but good selection of books and I loved their little gift/knickknack corner where I bought some cute holiday cards and a booklet of National Park postcards. The Bookery Manchester is a must visit for book lovers any healthy eaters alike!

Huge store with all types of used and new books. I only had time to look in the children's section…read morewhich was huge and decently organized by categories such as (sensory/cause and effect, holidays, popular authors, language, potty training, family). You could spend a good chunk of time browsing through the bins and shelves. It is great that they have a train table in the kids area so they kids can play while you browse the books. I was searching for Lunar New Year books, but couldn't find any. They had a bin for the big holidays like Christmas, Halloween, Easter and a general holiday bin for smaller holidays. The employees were nice and can system search by author/title, but they couldn't do a search by general topic/genre.

The Used Book Superstore in Burlington is my personal money pit -- and honestly, I'm fine with it…read more I've never managed to leave with fewer than ten books, and at this point, I don't even pretend I will. The selection feels endless. Every genre, every niche, and then, just when you think you've seen it all, there's a wall of Blu-rays, DVDs, video games, board games, and random bits of memorabilia you didn't know you wanted until they're already in your basket. The prices are almost insulting to other stores. Seriously, I've paid more for a cup of coffee than I have for some of the books here. You'd almost feel guilty... except you don't, because you're too busy carrying out a stack taller than your torso. The staff is excellent -- actually helpful, not the fake "let me know if you need anything" kind. They've tracked down what I came in looking for, and then somehow convinced me to walk out with three more titles I didn't even know existed. My shelves at home are groaning under the weight of their recommendations, but sure, suggest me another series. Why not. I've been a regular for about a year now, and as long as I live in Massachusetts, this will be one of the few places I actually look forward to throwing money at. You never know what you'll find here, which is exactly why I keep coming back.

What a tonelessly snarky fellow. The tall one who periodically visits the cafe staff, where he…read moreconverses in loud yells. I brought two books to the counter today and took a moment to look in my bag for my book discount bookmark for him to stamp. I carefully put my laptop, wallet, glasses, and clean paper wrapper containing the cafe's fresh veggie sandwich half, all on the broad counter for a moment, in the manner of Lucille Ball. I'm old enough that she was my mentor in a special graduate class on clowning, eons ago. But the bookstore clerk zeroed in on the sandwich. "Get your greasy sandwich off the counter. This is a bookstore." Who talks like this? Yes, the wrapped sandwich was anomalous there, matter out of place but for a moment. He had no right to sound this way, but I apologized. The purchase came to under twenty. He was so excitedly thrilled by this. "You can't have a book stamp because you didn't spend twenty today!" He bounced as he said it. New to the discount program because who cares, I quietly accepted this news. "See?" He went on, "Look. It says so right there, right on the bookmark!" I gave no reply to him. "But, of course, everyone just hates to read!" There was no humor going on. He was claiming the right to scold an old person for being nothing but that, in his eyes. I'm older and small in size. What a bully! I looked him in the face and said, "What is wrong with you?" Off balance, he said, "Nothing. This is just what's called having a sense of humor." He turned and sped off. There was no 'thank you' to complete the transaction. To me, a comic to the core, incivility is not humor at all. It's disrespect. It's a man Indulging in meanness towards an older woman because he can get away with it here and there. "Get your greasy sandwich off the counter," was so inappropriate to say, to anyone, the cruelness of it must have felt like free-flight. It was so absurdly rude he brought to mind Monty Python. I spend up to $400 a month on books. I find everyone else here at Toadstool polite, but similarly distracted and disinterested in the customers, except for the owner. But no one else is disrespectful except for this guy.

We've loved every visit to the Toadstool. They have a wide selection of genres, a friendly staff,…read moreand cafes at both locations. I've even had used books ordered without any problems.
