Oak Tree Books has rolling ladders around their book cases. It's really, really difficult for me…read morenot to channel my inner Belle from Beauty and the Beast to jump on and slide around. This space is a nook of older and first edition books, but not a great spot to find newer used reads. Most of the books are about Oklahoma and Native Americans. There are some smaller sections of science fiction, literature & classic children's books. Inside is well organized but you still feel like an explorer. I'm going to go back as Belle and find the rose behind a book.

I have really mixed feelings about this bookstore…read more... On one hand there's a lot of rare books that I've never seen at other used bookstores, even in much larger cities. The guy that owns the place is pretty nice and seems to know the business. I also love giving my business to locally owned used bookstores. On the other hand a lot (if not most) of the books are WAY WAY WAY overpriced. And I'm not talking about the rare first edition stuff. I'm talking about just run of the mill crap you find in any used bookstore. You know, stuff that anywhere else might cost $2-$4 would cost $10-$15 at Oak Tree. So, I don't know.... I would only recommend this place if you're a collector of rare and/or first edition books, or if there's some book you absolutely have to have but can't find it anywhere else. I only wish this place were cheaper, because, as I said, I like supporting local businesses, but it's just too expensive for the average reader....

There's something so enchanting about local book stores, and I had high expectations for Rivendell Books and Baubles Right away, you feel comfortable in this little book store, even though it's situated in the middle of a little neighborhood strip mall. Towards the back of the store, there is a little coffee counter (I'll get to that later), which i was excited to try. There is a fireplace and big comfy inviting leather chairs off to your right after you enter the store. On the left starts the bookshelves and book selections. There seemed to be a good mix of popular and eclectic books to choose from. They had a cute little children's section where I immediately found the cutest book for my niece. All in all, it's a small but seemingly well curated selection of books. The website stated that there were locally made gifts, which I love to pick up for family and friends, but there didn't seem to be a huge selection, so that was a bit disappointing. Also, remember that coffee counter from before? Apparently the barista was out of the book store and wasn't expected back... for a couple of hours. Also, disappointing. I love a second chance though, so I know I'll stop by again the next time I'm back in town. Hopefully, the barista will be back by then.

We tried coming here twice during their hours (on a Tuesday). They were closed both times. No note…read moreleft or anything. We sat and waited for 15 minutes the first time because it was just after their opening time. We came back four hours later and they were still closed. I guess they did promise chaos on the window.
