I stopped in with my sons after checking out dice addictions next door. There wasn't a sign saying comics or anything identifying the business other than a couple of Star Wars posters on the windows and the Tardis on the door. Figured it would be something my boys would like! We walked in to discover shelves full of comic books of all varieties! The gentleman showed us where a couple of free comic book options were to get them started on their comic books journey. I'd been to Mammoth before, ten or twelve months ago in a business trip. Was told at that time their back issue boxes weren't ready to be looked through and were for internet sales only. They would get them out soon. I bought some bags then. The store was clean and had a good selection of new books. After recently seeing on Mammoth web site that they had boxes out and looked to have a good selection I decided to go soon. THEIR WEB SITE CLEARLY SAYS THEY OPEN AT 12:30. I Traveled 60 MILES with my son today for some weekend comic hunting. We got there at 12:15 so we could browse for a while then head home for other activities. We waited til 12:50 and they never opened. Their DOOR SAID they open at 12:30 I asked a guy at the game store next door if he knew where they were. He smiled and said, " yeah they sometimes don't open until 1:00 or 2:00". We left, disappointed after driving 60 miles. I called them about 30 minutes later and they answered. I asked what time they opened today and they said 12:30. When pressed about it the guy said "well we had an emergency come up and it's just a rare occasion we're not open by 12:30" . I asked why the guy next door told me what he had. They then said that they had gone to an "estate sale" that morning. An estate sale on Memorial weekend? I can only surmise, especially after what the guy next door said, that they simply don't care about new customers. I can't provide a review on the store itself and never will because I won't be going back. If you decide to go, don't believe what they say about their hours. You may be wasting your time. read more

I found a stash of 200 comics in the attic from the 60s. Including the ones shown here. Thought mammoth comics would want them. They had me drop em off and said they would get back to me within two weeks with an offer. Over 90 days later, the offer was an insulting $40. Less than what I paid to bag and back them. I came back and took them home. They kept increasing their offer, but they pissed me off too much with the insulting Initial offer. Another comic store said they were worth over a thousand dollars. While replacing a roof on my former home, I discovered over 200 silver and bronze age comics in the attic left by a former owner. These included 12 of the first 20 Ironman (included issues that introduced the person who became the Crimson Dynamo), and many Hulk, Captain America, Daredevil, Dr Strange, and Spider-man issues from the 60s and early 70s. I spent over $40, putting them in proper bags with backing boards and according to comicspriceguide.com they were worth well over $1,000 in value even in poor condition. I took them to Mammoth Comics to see what they would offer.. they stated that they would get back to me with an offer in two Weeks.. I had to wait 90 days and they sent me an Insult ($40). Less than I spent to bag and box them. I informed them that I would be coming the next day to take them back. They tried to increase their offer, but their initial attempt to defraud me was too much of an Insult to forget. I got the comics back and am sending them to my grandchildren. Found this place drove by it almost missed it. Pros: lots of graphic novels, comic selection includes the big five (dc marvel dark horse IDW and image), and nice selection of funko pops. Cons: new issues are bag and boarded which prevents casual reading ( and thus picking up new series), some series in graphic novels only had the 3rd or 5th issue making it hard to drop cash on picking up a complete run, most Indy titles were in graphic novel format only, no single issues to be found. Back issue section had lots of titles from 70's and 80's but mostly dc and marvel and the ones that weren't were hard to find due to being scattered in various boxes. Overall much better than the comic shops in Okc, however still needs sum work. read more

Owner Shawn Mears knows his stuff and makes every visit more like going to a comic book club than going to a comic book store. I'm actually hesitant to give this place such a great recommendation as a record store, because I kind of don't want people to find out about this place! I happened to be in town from OKC and popped in. For the record, I only look for quality used audiophile vinyl. What they lacked in quantity, they definitely made up for in quality. Was able to pick up the White Album, Dark Side of the Moon, and Hotel California among the stack I picked up. The owner was very friendly and even cut me a great deal, because I was buying quite a few albums. Not sure why some think he is rude. I will definitely make this a stop every time I hit Tulsa. As far as comics go I have no idea about any of that and have no idea how that part of it operates. read more

EDIT: Since I wrote this review, Mammoth Comics has completely reorganized, and a lot of the problems I've mentioned have been corrected. I've upgraded my rating accordingly. It's still not the best comic store in town, but not bad if you happen to be in the neighborhood. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The first time I went in this store, almost none of the back issue comics were organized or priced. Boxes were stacked on top of other boxes, so you had to move things around to even look through things. I asked the guy working there about several titles, but he was absolutely clueless as to what I was talking about.... I pieced together from a conversation he was having with someone else that he didn't even really work there, but was just covering for someone else. I then asked him if I should come back the next day and he said, "Yeah, but that guy probably knows even less than I do." WTF?? I left the store shaking my head, wondering why on earth they were even open if nothing was organized or priced, and the guy working there didn't know a danged thing about the store OR comic books in general. Several weeks later I decided to give it another shot. I went in, and still NOTHING was organized or priced. Luckily there was someone there who actually knew something, so he helped me find a few things I was looking for. However, since nothing was priced, I had to wait like 10 minutes while he looked up the prices in a comic book price guide. The prices were fair, but I don't want to have to go through that every time I buy some comics. I went in a third time several weeks after that. You think things were priced and organized this time? Nope. EXACTLY the same mess as before. The guy from my second visit was there, and I asked him about some "What If" comics. He said he would have to check the storage unit because they don't keep those in the normal stock. WTF?? "What If" is a pretty major comic line spanning several decades. Why on earth they wouldn't have at least a small selection on hand is beyond me. I don't know... maybe I caught them in the middle of a move or inventory or something? But it shouldn't take 2 months to do that....and it didn't even look like anything was changing. Or maybe their customer base isn't really interested in back issues or something..... who knows, but I would rather go to any other comic book store in town -- Wizard's Asylum, Star Base 21, World of Comics, Gardner's -- than Mammoth. Been a comic book fan for 30 years now and i have never seen a store that operates like this. This is the only comic book store in Tulsa, OK. that charges above cover prices for alternate cover that just came out. Bought Generation X #1 variant (5-17-2017) cover and the owner charges me $8.00 when the cover shows $3.99. I bought the same cover at comic empire for cover. If you are going to charge eBay prices, close your shop and sell online. The owner tell half truth so you would buy a new book at a higher prices. Take your business to comic empire, wizard asylum, world of comic or vintage stock at they know how to treat customer right and charge the correct amount for a new comic books. read more

Been buying my books for the pass 2 months and the experiences is ok at best. I do not care for how the owner charges people more for alternate covers for books when they just came out. Did not know you can sell comic above the cover price when it just came out that day. I guess he needs the money more than the business. The owner is not very friendly and comes of rude. Honest, there are far more better comic book store in town than Mammoth. I only shopped here because it is closer to work but I will be taking my business else where. I wanted to people to know what kind comic shop Mammoth is, hope you folks have a better experiences than me. read more

This place is unorganized and nothing is in a particular order. The guy running the place is extremely rude and not as knowledgeable as he'd like to come across. The vast amount of space they have is not utilized at all to its potential. I recommend any other comic shop in Tulsa over this place. This place is the worst! read more

Worst comic book store in Tulsa, I have been going to this store since it opened and it has just been going down hill over the past 2 years and now its just as bad. The people running it have a hateful attitude and the guy wouldn't even get up from his computer on facebook (cause looking at the new comics I could see the monitor). So I just set my books down and left, plus I couldn't even look at back issues for all the junk they have laying on top of the boxes. Stay Away! read more
