This location is in the mall located right in front of the children play area. The store is pretty clean and pretty big. So much stock and so worth the experience. I love this place since I am a huge bookie! There is a section dedicated to some best sellers that are only $1. Yes, believe it! You do have to search up and down the aisle, but they are there. You have the option of buying or selling here. From books, figurines, comic books, and video games, you can trade for store credit or a trading amount. In this location, the anime section is huge. There is a huge selection of Demon Slayer and Naruto collectible figurines. Some really cool stuff to find. As for the video games, they have some classics that brought back some childhood memories. You can even purchase old consoles which I might do some time. I would love to play on the OG Nintendo console for some Zelda or Duck Hunt. This Book-Off is defined as the clearance Book-Off in the Del Amo Mall. Yes, the Del Amo Mall does have two separate Book-Off locations. One is over by JCPenney while this one is right next-door to Macy's. The shop is on the upper level of the mall. Thus, you just have to grab the elevator, go to the far side of the mall, and there it is. Once inside, as is the case with all Book-Off locations, you will find tons and tons of books. What's unique about this location is that all of the books are only one dollar. Yes, one dollar. Every book in this store is just one dollar. And, they have some great books. Everything from sought after hardcovers by well-known authors, to tons and tons of paperback books on all subjects. Pretty much any subject, by any author, you're will find something here. Beyond just books, this Book-Off also offers tons of CDs. These CDs are also offered for only one dollar. So, if you're looking to grab some great music, this is an excellent place to do it. Just like the books they offer, they have a vast variety of CDs here. So, you'll really be able to find some great music from every genre of music that you like. Overall, this is a very self-serve style shop. You go in there, you seek out what you're looking for, you go up to the counter, you pay for it, and you're gone. It's a simple as that. Upstairs in the Del Ami mall, right next to Macy's department store is the location of this Book-Off. The main Book-Off is downstairs. This one is their outlet store. Everything in the store is $1! They have tons of used books and movies on CD. Yes, aisles of books, movies, and used games. They also have a display in the middle of the store of anime key chains. They've been here for a while now, but not as much foot traffic upstairs at this mall as downstairs. I rarely come up here, and forgot all about it. Employees are busy stocking the shelves. Its a place where you can find anything cheap. You can sell items on their lists but don't expect to get a lot of money. They are quite frugal. There is a 2nd store in Del Amo Mall outside of Macy's women's. It has books, CDs for at least $1 each. When you want to sell items to them, it is best to call ahead to see if they are willing to buy. I called inquiring about Funko, they said Yes but only large funko and ones that had multiples in the box. When I arrived, I had 20 items and on only got $13 for the items. read more

It's an alright Book Off. Interesting that this location is split between 2 floors in 2 different directions, but one is more for books and some small physical goods and the other one is more for electronics, DVDs, CDs, etc. Many of the books are available for $1 or at a heavily discounted price or deal, same with the limited anime goods they have here. If you're in the market for some cheap physical books or thrifting, not a bad place to stop but I have a bigger preference for the Book Offs in Riverside and sometimes Costa Mesa for their more extensive anime goods section. read more

Surprisingly, I feel, they are a good bookstore for buy-backs. I figured as they often sell many items for $1 with a robust inventory that takes up space (therefore considering the rent they pay), and not everything sells quickly, they'd offer pennies on the dollar for books. I was expecting like a dime or quarter per book, but I guess our books were in good enough condition and in demand enough by subject or title to get us nearly $0.50 per book in cash (I'm not sure if they do trade and credit for higher payouts to spend back into their business, which I think is a smart option they should explore doing). So, as a consumer we've found great deals. As a seller, we felt it was an easy process and good experience. Our alternative was to pay it forward and give the books away or donate them to the libary, and maybe even hold a yard sale, so whether we get a tax write off for a donation or hustle to sell on our own or feel generous passing the books along for free... selling to Book Off was, is and always will be a good option to think about. My motivation was to have my child surrender the books he's either done with or outgrown and monetize that for him to get the money we sell them for to spend and treat himself to something with that cash. It's a good learning experience. read more

[Review #750] 2023-036 This Book-Off is considered an outlet of the main location (near Joann), located north near the north Macy's (there's 2 too) on the upper level. There's minimal staff & for good reason... this store holds the overflow from the main shop, & everything -- yes e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g -- is $1! Is that a good thing? That depends on how much time you have for this discounted store. Because it is not organized whatsoever, it'll take you forever to find something specific whether by title or author; the movies are even worse, not alphabetical or grouped by genre. Still, I managed to spend a whole Jackson after an hour of browsing on my last visit, & came away with some books, a movie, couple of pins & placemats. Whew! On summer days, the store can be a bit stuffy even with the lack of customers. I don't mind perusing the shelves when I have time, & once in awhile I'll find a hidden gem. Normally, I'd head over to the main shop because I can get what I want fast; after all, time is money, & sometimes I don't have enough (time, that is). Happy bargain hunting! read more

The Book-off OUTLET is my happy place!! Absolutely everything in the store is $1 -- from DVDs, CDs, books and even records! They even have a selection of small animae toys! The only catch -- nothing is organized in any type of category. You will find cookbooks next to self-help books, gardening books and books on travel and history. The eclectic nature I enjoy hunting through the books and finding a cookbook treasure or a " how to book" or even an antique guide. There are beautiful coffee table books, fiction novels -- if you like to browse -- this store will become YOUR happy place! I adore shopping the outlet after eating dinner at either Luna Grill or North Italia on a Friday or Saturday evening. read more

Not a huge selection but I got something I could use. I thought the prices were high but it was in a mall and they have to pay that rent there. One of the clerks was curt and rude, the other was ok. I will still use this place as a resource if ever needed again but it is not high on the list of choices. read more

Book-off outlet is like going to a sprawling garage sale. There are CDs, movies, tv box sets, lots of anime keychains, badges and towels. I love getting a good deal and was able to find several dvd season box sets, a few small anime figures, keychains and even manga. I really had to restrain myself since we were from out of town. If you have an hour to spend here, you'll find some great deals compared to the normal Book Off around town. read more

Book, Books and more Books. Yeap, l love Books. I love used book stores. It's part inspiration and part treasure hunt. They have super cheap paperbacks and lots of hardback books. A good assortment of fiction and non-fiction books. Nothing like a stack of books, at a good price, to make one really happy. Nice helpful staff. The shop has that slightly over stuffed wonderful, abundant book feeling. I like that. I bought a copy of Dune, a few science fiction books, a book of Rumi poetry, a couple cook books, and a few kids books. Now l am feeling inspired! Some folks are confusing Book-Off's OUTLET location, which is upstairs to their other location that is downstairs, within the same shopping mall. Hence, I attached a photo of the Outlet store, which is easily distinguished by its "red and orange exterior" from the downstairs location, which has a black exterior (as shown in a few photos of other reviewers). As of my most recent visit on Jan. 4th, 2022, this Outlet location still has their DVDs in an unorganized manner. And, as predicted, there were few patrons inside perusing their selections. You would think that this location would be crowded with bargain hunters, especially when everything is a just $1 each. Can you imagine the futility of looking up any "word" of interest to you in a dictionary that was not organized alphabetically.
