Book horizons is great! They will ask your schedule and have all the books you need before the semester starts. They always give coupons or other free things to students with purchases. They're a great place for UM law merchandise as well. But the best part is their buyback program. I took a class this semester where the professor required two brand new, expensive textbooks. We never had assigned reading or even opened the books. One of mine was still in the plastic. I was upset to see that the books were about 1/6th of what I paid online. When I went to book horizons, they gave me double the best value that I could get elsewhere in cash. They were very kind and understanding about the situation. Blah, this bookstore left a sour taste in my mouth - their law book buy back program is awfully cheap. For books worth over 150 dollars, they'll give you maybe a sixth of its value. It probably would make more sense to sell the books back elsewhere. read more

Amazing customer service in this time of Covid-19. You call them, tell them what books you need, pay over the phone with a credit card, and then arrange a time to pick up your order. They bring it out to your car. They carry books for both UM undergraduates and law students. There is a reason they've been in business since 1953! read more

Book Horizons was my one-stop shopping mecca for all the casebooks & supplements I needed while I was at UM Law. And they're the only place I found that actually sold UM Law apparel. While they're not the cheapest, they are cheaper than the UM Bookstore, and the service is so much more personable. For you 1Ls out there - take in your class schedule & they'll pull all the books for you. And for the rest of you law students - give them the name of the class and/or the professor, and they'll give you all the books you need. They also have any kind of supplement you might want - E&E, case notes, etc. They used to do a Buy X many, get 1 free thing, but I don't know if they still do. They also buy back books - casebooks & supplements - so they have a pretty good used book selection. read more

Two generations of my family have been Book Horizons customers. This bookstore has been consistently excellent for years. The people who works there are friendly and attentive. It's the kind of place where you have an experience that you remember long after your visit there. I've been a customer of Book Horizons for years, buying many books there. My daughter has bought textbooks and science lab accessories from Book Horizons, too. The staff is friendly, extremely knowledgeable and helpful, searching for any elusive title you need. While the big box stores lack personality and real people to help, Book Horizons has plenty of both. They have always fulfilled my order quickly, as well. Don't go to Book Horizons, try buying your books online or instead buy them at the University of Miami Bookstore. The people at Book Horizons come off as car salesmen and they tried selling me books that weren't needed for my courses. Also, their book buyback program is HORRIBLE. I bought an Organic Chemistry textbook and an Organic Chemistry Solutions Manual (they were $240 and $60 respectively) from them and at the end of the semester I went back to sell them my books and they gave me $20 for my textbook and $10 for my solutions manual even though the books did NOT have handwriting or any highlights. This store is a good last resort. However obviously online bookstores will be much cheaper. The thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was the buy back. The man behind the counter mislead me and said the book I was turning in was worth only 6 dollars because they were coming out with a new version. I was in a rush so I let him have it for 6 dollars. However later I went home and looked it up. There was no new version and I could have sold the book to Amazon for 75. Needless to say I will only go back if I'm in dire need. read more
