I was worried that we hadn't ordered enough, my friend was worried we had ordered too much, but it turned out to be a pretty satisfactory amount. We shared a bottle of house white wine which was perfectly fine. We also had some sake which I didn't love, though maybe I am just spoiled after the recent Yelp event featuring sake. The service was not great. Our waitress was very nice but seemed totally flustered. Thankfully as we were there for a nice leisurely meal this didn't bother us too much. It has won numerous awards including their chef Terry Huang winning the Chef of the Year award at the Manchester Food & Drink Awards 2016. Its located near the Manchester Arena, down a side street. Its a hidden gem. I am show many people don't even know about it. Its a very small restaurant and only has about 20 covers. The last time I went, it was a group of about 6 people and we ordered several things, which I can't remember exactly the names of what ordered. But all good! As well as the sushi/sashimi etc, we also ordered some side dishes like edamame and also a delicious Taiwanese pork rice. Was so good! Delicious! I would highly recommend going - its not cheap, but its well worth it. The first time I went to Umezushi was for a Yelp event and we got to try many different things. We also tried some plum sake which tasted SO good.

Unexpected location but works well…read more I stopped by for a quick lunch and got 6 pieces of salmon maki for £3 which was made from scratch infront of me. The menu looks really good and want to go again with a few people to try the bigger platters that look amazing. I was really impressed with my salmon maki and how it was presented. The rice had a lot of flavour and wasn't cold and hard like premade sushi at supermarkets. Would really recommend.
