In other words, they were expecting me to do they own job without even saying thank you or that they were sorry for the inconvenience they caused me. A gentleman, whom I refer to as the store manager, translated my requests to the seamstress downstairs. I then returned to the main showroom, and the owner quoted me a price. I picked up the items without the chance to try them on due to scheduling constraints, and later that day, I found the alterations to be unprofessional and not in line with the price I was charged. I was leaving for vacation and could not address it immediately. Upon my return, I showed the store manager my concerns and asked how we could rectify the situation. He advised me to speak with the owner, who was unavailable, and to come back in a week. A week later the owner still wasn't there. The store manager suggested I call the owner, and I asked if he could call him while I was there. He mentioned he doesn't always answer his calls. I said, so why would he answer a call from a number he's not familiar with? In the meantime, I took the two pieces to another tailor to see what could be done to make them wearable. After months of many visits, I reiterated that the work done did not reflect what I paid for and requested a refund. The store manager asked to see the pieces again, I explained that what was done could have been done by me, and he responded, "so why didn't you do it yourself?" I then stated I wanted a refund so I could take them to a proper tailor. He called the seamstress, and they spoke in Spanish about possible fixes. He explained she could complete the additional alterations, and I could pick them up on Thursday, with later delays pushing pickup to Saturday. After four months, the garments are finally wearable.

My experience started with a call to the store a few weeks ago when I spoke with Lekwan. He took his time to explain everything on the phone, no pressure and was extremely courteous. I finally made it to the store in Spring Street in SoHo. The first good sign was I found a parking spot in a busy Saturday afternoon that was only one block from the store. When I entered I was immediately greeted by Erin, who I later found out was the store manager. She was courteous, pleasant and you could tell right away I was in good hands. Everyone worked well as a team. I met Lekwan and they both assisted me. They have a great selection of suits, shirts pants, shorts and other accessories. They offer making custom suits and tailoring as well. There was a suit that caught my eye on line which they had, I tried in and it was exactly what I was looking for. It's for a wedding in the Caribbean in November and is the perfect weight. I have never felt more comfortable in a suit than this one. Lekwan took his time to pin it for tailoring and made sure the tapering of the leg was perfect. He even did the "chair test". Making sure the bottom of the pants leg is not too short when you sit down. I wound up purchasing two other pair of pants and had them do the alterations as well. I also picked up a great shirt to go with the suit that is wrinkle free as well. I have to say that I have high expectations for customer service and everyone on the store met or exceeded my expectations. Other businesses should take a page out of their book. They helped with everything from bringing items back and forth from the dressing room, having multiple options to try on and plenty of refreshments on a hot day. I will definitely be back and highly recommend them.

I knew about Hall Madden from their days as Proper Cloth and also wanted the in store experience and personal touch of a stylist that could make sure the fit was correct and could show me the fabrics in person. I felt good after the first session where I was measured and picked out my fabric and fit, then just a couple weeks later I had my first try-on and the fit was great. Only a couple modifications all handled by my final fitting. You also have the option to have the final garment tailored as part of the price which is nice as well. In my experience somewhere like Suitsupply will sell you a low cost suit and make up for it by charging way too much for alterations. Highly recommend HM whether you're looking for your first custom suit, or have tried other methods and looking for a great all around experience.

I especially appreciate that once you've bought your first suit with them every one afterward is super easy. You just stroll in pick fabrics and can be out in 15 minutes. In a few weeks you get a suit that is 100% exactly like the last one. The consistency in their product is super valuable. And McGregor and Melissa are super attentive to details so if after a couple years you need a small tweak here or there on a suit to get it fit a smidge better because you've gained or lost some weight, they do that in a flash. It's a truly fantastic experience and product. I will concede that last year I tried a Hong Kong tailor that was highly recommended and was just so disappointed after I got the suit. One of those times where I felt really silly for wasting money when I already knew where to get the best suits from. I won't make that mistake again, and just ordered a couple new suits from HM this week.
