I read about this store on the Lafayette tourism website and have been wanting to come for some time now. The store holds two stores in one. Half romantic books that highlights the dark, LGBTQIA+ and then your regular romance novels. I am not allowed to purchase any books at the moment, but I will be back once I am allowed to once again. The other half is a sweets bakery. I got two of the macaroons and an iced coffee. The prices were very reasonable, the coffee very good, and the service was amazing. Y'all. Bonne Vie is simply amazing. So amazing, I'm wondering where to even start?! Every time I come here I feel like I've just stepped into a French cafe somewhere in Paris. Heather has set up this shop so perfectly with such wonderful attention to detail... from the music softly piping through the speakers to the beautiful furnishings. Even the art on the walls is carefully thought out. If that wasn't enough, there is a Little Free Library here! And it is the most beautiful one I've ever seen and there is nothing little about it...there are so many books! If you are a book lover like me you will feel like you've died and gone to heaven. And just when you thought this place couldn't be any cuter you find out they do themes every week and reflect the theme into the delicious goodies. Themes like Bridgerton, Barbie, Harry Styles, Star Wars and Taylor Swift. SO much fun, so stinking adorable and the desserts aren't just gorgeous to look at, they are delicious, too. My only regret was not buying more. The wedding cake macaron was mind blowing. These are the best macarons I've ever tried. Stopped in today to buy a Christmas gift for my wife and daughter. This was my first time here and I was immediately impressed. The staff was very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The store was clean, organized and bright. I grabbed a dozen macarons and thankfully my wife and daughter shared with me. They were unreal! Some of the best macarons I've had. My only critique would be the price. I think $35 for a dozen is a bit steep, but I'll gladly pay it again because they are so good! read more

The place is super cute! Selection is limited. The macarons are perfectly baked. Crunchy outside chewy creamy inside. A little too much filling in the middle to my liking. I got the wedding cake, strawberries and cream, and crème brûlée, they all tasted the same, like just sugar. They are super cute and like I said baked perfectly but lacking the flavor they're named. I also got a Petit Four, it was super moist but also lacking the almond flavor, the sugar from the icing on top had also melted making the bottom mushy. Beautiful place to study or visit with a friend. Amazing potential in the macarons I just suggest more flavor. read more

Sometimes it's the places that do so well that I can't say much about. One of the highlights, if not my favorite part, of my 30th birthday is getting this beautiful tart pictured below. So instagrammable and gorgeous at a good price. I've tried their macarons in store before and they are the real deal. I especially loved the pumpkin cheesecake and strawberry flavors, they come through so nicely! While I totally appreciated the fact that not every element of the tart was sweetened (I was scared of sweetness), I do wish either the cookie or the filling was a little sweeter, but I would take the tart I had over an overly sweet one any day! I have so many things to say about Heather, Isabel, Deb, and the rest of the Bonne Vie team I honestly don't know where to begin. Since discovering their delicious desserts through their macarons sold by Graze Acadiana in the late summer of last year, I have been by more times than I can count- I've become such a consistent customer that the ladies just know to say "see you next week" as I leave with my pink box of goodies. These are definitely the best desserts you can buy in the Acadiana area- the macarons are amazing and come in both traditional and unique flavors that are so fun to try, and they feature other rotating desserts like cupcakes, poptarts, sugar cookie bars (my favorite!), meringues, brownies, cookie dough cups, cream puffs, and more. I love the attention to detail that Bonne Vie takes in making sure their desserts look absolutely beautiful- they use unique sprinkles and artful splatters of edible gold and silver paint to make desserts that are truly works of art. Their customer service is top notch, too. During the holidays I stopped by to buy macarons to bring as a small party favor for a holiday lunch I was attending, and the team was kind enough to help me package them in individual boxes and tie them with ribbon (photo attached). If there's a negative thing to say about Bonne Vie, it's that you may find yourself craving their signature macarons when they're closed on a Sunday or Monday. I genuinely recommend Bonne Vie whether you just have a craving for something sweet or if you need a dessert platter for your next gathering- Heather and Isabel will make sure you are taken care of. read more

Don't get me wrong, this place has terrific macaroons but upon first visit their display was completely empty. If you want an order of macaroons then you have to preorder them for their weekly pick up on Friday. They only open four days out of the week and are only open from 11-4 which is inconvenient. I'm surprised something like this is not open on the weekends for people to enjoy them. Hopefully the owners see my review and the many other reviews praising their product so they can open more days of the week and operate longer the days they do open instead of closing at 4. If they could offer more of their products in their display and open more, this place would be such a great hit for Lafayette and will be tremendously successful! read more
