Stopped by Red Onion Café in Racine for lunch and had a really nice experience overall!…read more We ordered at the counter and the line moved super quickly, which is always appreciated during the lunch rush. I went with the citrus balsamic salad with chicken, which also came with a roll, and my friend ordered the turkey & bacon club sandwich combo that included butternut squash soup and a drink. Our food came out in about 10 minutes, which was great timing. The salad was wonderful...fresh, flavorful, and really satisfying for lunch. There were just a couple small things that could have been better. The roll that came with my salad was pretty dry and cold, so that part didn't quite match how good the salad was. My friend also got a pickle with the sandwich (see photo)... and let's just say it was limp as hell and could definitely use an upgrade. Overall though, it was a good experience with quick service and tasty food. With just a couple small tweaks, it would be even better. I'd definitely stop back again!

The right atmosphere is here to sit alone to contemplate or read, or to chat with a friend or play a game of chess but ceramic espresso cups and saucers are a basic requirement. I'd like to see a couple more fruit flavor sorbets which do go well with espresso. Only disposable containers is not very classy, and the plastic isn't healthy for humans or the planet.

The restaurant itself is so cute inside and has such a warm, cozy, homey feel. Everyone is always incredibly nice whenever we come in. I usually order to-go, and since I'm often there with my kids, I'll place the order and then go back outside to wait in the car. Every single time, without me even asking, they bring my coffee out to me while I wait. Then, as soon as the food is ready, they bring that out too. It's such a small thing, but those little touches really make a difference. They genuinely take care of their customers, and it makes every visit such a great experience. We commonly get the French toast breakfast sandwich, bagel breakfast sandwiches, and pancakes. We've also tried the brisket sandwich, BLT, and cheeseburger -- and everything has been delicious and made fresh. One thing that really stands out to me is the bread. You can completely ruin a sandwich with bad bread, but they always get it right! Highly recommend giving this place a try -- it's definitely become one of our favorites!

I couldn't quite figure out fast enough how to order the fancy matcha drinks I saw on Yelp and didn't have time to figure it out. I settled for a 12oz (small) iced vanilla matcha. Service was quick, the price was reasonable, and the matcha was perfectly balanced between all ingredients. I was tempted to grab a snack like a pastry or avocado toast for my drive but again was in a bit of a rush and indecisive! This will definitely be a go to coffee/matcha spot when I'm in the area!

My salad was sub par. Spring greens and spinach plopped from a bag with a small smattering of peas and maybe one cut up piece of asparagus and some tiny chunks of a good goat cheese topped with too much crunchy quiñoa and a dressing that was overwhelmingly vinegary. The freshly brewed coffee was nothing special but did keep flowing nicely. The gift shop had so much to browse through.
