Great family experience. Bonfires are all huge and each one is unique in the build since it's done by different family groups.

Found out about this Festival through my 19 year old sister. The place is located in La Place and…read moreit can be a hassle first hand when it comes to parking. However, do not fret there are guardsmen/guards-women that will direct you on which area to park in. I have a scary Two year old that is afraid of just about everything and anything that moves without his permission so he was not having it. I did manage to scheme my way in to the carousel ride although he cried at first but once I Talked him through and made him laugh so he was distracted. The rides are perfect for like 5 and up or again not scary two year olds. There's a Ferris Wheel and even pony rides. The food was where they lost 1 star. I was sop excited to try the different varieties of food. Believe you me there were a lot. I just wasn't to thrilled with the taste and flavoring of many of them. Honestly i enjoyed the lemonade and cotton candy. But surprisingly the concert band called "Off Da Hook" was where I enjoyed myself and gave this Festival the whopping 4. I mean this was like the perfect cover band ever! i ENJOYED the suspense of trying to predict what the next song would be. Like they covered Rick James, EU, Stevie Wonder, Maroon 5, etc. I mean I was purely entertained. My son loved the band he dance all night long! They even kept us informed on the LSU Game for those who missed it. So yes I'm a Fan and me and my son will be back!

What a great time in La Place. Great music. Excellent food. Nice folks. Loved the bands. They gave…read moreus a ride to the front of the fair. Great selection of arts and crafts.

Swamp Pop Music?? The name alone made me interested in this festival. The music was definitely…read moreentertaining. Lots of the people here were dancing to the great music. So I was a little thrown off at first because of a few things that I'm not used to seeing at any other festivals in Louisiana. For starters it wasn't outside. In fact it was inside a building that reminded me of my high school gym. Another thing that threw me off was not seeing much to eat. C'mon folks this is Louisiana right? Home of the best food in the world. The food choices consisted of only jambalaya, BBQ, burgers, funnel cakes, nachos, and fries. The booze selection wasn't too bad as it was on par with other fests.....plentiful beer and daiquiris. But what will keep me coming back to this fest for yrs to come is that all the funds go to cystic fibrosis research. I love anything to do with helping others. I also had a blast hanging out with some of the most warm-hearted and jovial people I have ever met. Louisiana knows how to party!!! Was this fest a little redneck? Definitely. It is in Gonzales right?!! Are you going to come to the Swamp Pop Music Fest for the food? Probably not Will everyone there be dancing? You betcha Will you have a good time? HELL YEAH So what exactly is Swamp Pop Music? I'm still not sure after listening to over 12 hrs of music at this fest but damn it was a crazy fun little festival.

Well in this year 2022, I am forcing myself to go. While I missed out on the parade this year and the movie screening, I did come on the Saturday morning of the festival and I am so very glad I did. Parking was no issue; free parking was close to the festivities. There were many booths with a lot of interesting goodies for sale. Amazing festival! I am so glad I came. I look forward to coming again.

I'm probably the only person in Louisiana who doesn't get excited about festivals. To be clear, I…read morenot only don't get excited, I actively avoid them all and have been known to grumble, "is there *really* a need for a mac & cheese festival?" But Rougarou Fest is something else! I've been wanting to go to for years now. I mean, a festival devoted to all things werewolf, witch and Halloween? So up my alley. And it lived up to all of my expectations. What I loved about it: +easy to park and walk to the heart of the action +not so crowded/you won't feel your phobia kicking in +lots of fun crafts on display +excellent music (I mean, how can you not get happy when you hear zydeco?) although the sound person should have noticed that no one was standing in the immediate area by the stage/speakers because it was too loud for the smaller daytime crowds +all of the people and dogs in creative/fun costumes +witches on parade! +lovely Queen! +Re's face painting station +the friendly people of Houma +tent with RF souvenirs, especially this year's awesome poster that compelled me to buy 2 I wish I could write more about the parade but right as Queen Angelique's float rolled by, the heavens opened up and there was a torrential downpour. notes for next year: +it's practically a crime to not come in costume +no food for vegans or vegetarians, so bring snacks +arrive a little later and explore Chavin Sculpture Garden before parking +not a huge festival and an hour or two before the parade is plenty of time to enjoy everything
