Our visit to Bonefish was on a Wednesday evening at around 6pm. While we did make an online reservation, it really wasn't necessary, as there were only a few people in the restaurant. We were seated in a comfortable booth right away, but waited several minutes before our server arrived. That aside, the rest of our experience was great. We had the Bang Bang shrimp appetizer, which was on special that Wednesday and each had side salads. Both the Caesar and House side salads were of good proportion, fresh, and tasty. A hot loaf of fresh bread, along with the pesto, was an excellent accompaniment. The shrimp appetizer was plenty for two people. It was cooked to perfection, supplemented with a delicious bang bang sauce, with just the right amount of spice. Overall, an excellent evening meal, satisfying our appetite, even without a main. We visited the Fredericksburg Bonefish Grill after not having been there in 10-12 years and craving seafood. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming and disappointing. Our initial welcome was uninviting, with both the hostess and what appeared to be the manager were less than friendly. There was clear confusion about seating despite the restaurant being fairly empty. We were first placed near the restroom, then moved to a table directly in front of the entrance where it was cold, even though better tables were available. Service Fortunately, our server, Marianne (who was also bartending that evening), was excellent, friendly, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. She helped improve an otherwise disappointing start to the evening. She saved this from being a completely negative review. Food The food did not meet expectations. The Imperial Dip was overcooked and stuck to the bowl, the mahi mahi was overcooked and small in portion, and while my steak and lobster were cooked properly, the dish lacked flavor and I relied on salt and pepper for flavor. However, the warm butter heater for the lobster was a nice touch. The fish and chips and macaroni and cheese for our kids were also just ok. Value With a nearly $180 bill (including a few drinks), the overall experience felt disappointing for the price. Final Thoughts I might consider returning, but only with hopes for a much friendlier welcome, the same great server and service, and sticking to safer menu options. For the price point, there may be better dining options available downtown. read more

We sat at the bar actually got there with like 2 mins left before happy hour was ending. Thomas was the bartender he was fantastic great personality and quick with getting our order submitted. We decided to sit at the bar bc we felt a little underdressed as it was very dim lighting and most of the individuals were on what look to be like date night. The brussel sprouts were hands down my favorite. Wasn't a big fan of the checked my friend had the shrimp and I think they would've been a better choice. We came here to celebrate at the recommendation of the event. Upon entry, the place was warm and cozy, look classic with booth and tables. The place is large and would be great for large groups. The hostess greeted is and sat us at a booth. The waitress quizzing arrived and took our drink orders. Since it was our first time, she was very knowledgeable of the menu and answered our questions and made recommendations. We started with calamari for appetizer and highly recommend it. The cod imperial with premium side of Brussel sprouts was delicious. The baby bang shrimp tacos were ok for me though my friends loved it. The key lime cake was too dense. I do not recommend. I dined at my local Bonefish Grill in Fredericksburg, Virginia tonight. I was extremely disappointed! Let's start with the fact that 10 minutes passed before first contact was made with our table. Our waitress apologized and said that they were having a little "pow wow" in the kitchen. The ultimate disappointment came with the highly anticipated Swordfish and Pumpkin Ravioli this year! Last year I had the swordfish with the pumpkin ravioli for the first time in September 2023. I was so impressed with the dish, I went back in November 2023, to celebrate my birthday, and have it again. It was exquisite! When I saw that it was on the menu again this year, I could not wait to go back to get the swordfish and pumpkin ravioli once again. I bragged to everyone about it, and was dining with both my husband and my adult son this evening. While my husband and son had the Imperial Sea Bass, they each chose the pumpkin ravioli and the Kung Pao Brussels for their sides. I also paid an up charge for the Kung Pao Brussels, in replace of the green beans. I thought my dish looked a lot different than it did last year. And I was not mistaken. I had no pumpkin sauce on it whatsoever this year. It was instead floating in an oil. It tasted dry and bland. The same could be said in regard to the swordfish. It was terribly dry. What a disappointment! I can only assume that you changed the recipe from last year. Because none of us had any sauce on our ravioli. Not to mention, that I barely got any feta or toppings on mine, like I had last year. Just for reference, i'm leaving the pictures of my food from last year up, and then the food from tonight. Between the three of us, we spent more than $200 on appetizers, entrées, and dessert, and we didn't even have beverages. I just cannot begin to explain how disappointed I really am. This location ALWAYS gets it right! My husband and I are frequent patrons here and the service and food never disappoint. We were there on 10/21 and had the absolute pleasure of being waited on by Jen and Kiah. Jen came to our table with pleasantries and a lovely smile, took our order and made sure our food and drinks were served promptly. Kiah frequently checked on us to make sure we were completely satisfied and refilled our drinks and water without us asking. These two ladies helped elevate our experience there and made the trip worthwhile yet again. The food was DELICIOUS and very filling, as always. I just moved here from Richmond Virginia, and expecting the same quality of food/ service. Our waitress had no clue what she was doing. She wasn't even friendly. Our food came out and ( fish and chips), was full of grease and had no taste. The bang bang shrimp was sitting in grease sauce- not good at all. After about 30 minutes she noticed our forks were down- so she asked if she could clear the table- the plates were full of food in eaten . Stopped in for dinner and I always enjoy the atmosphere in Bonefish. Elegant but yet comfortable. We started with the crab imperial dip and to be honest, it was clumpy and not very smooth. The flavor was lost in the texture and greasy cheese. Bread is always good at Bonefish so I enjoyed that before our meal. I had the tempura lobster risotto. My Wife just came back from shopping yesterday and she had lunch at Bonefish. We have lived in the Fredericksburg area for just over 3 years and have gone there for dinners probably once a month. Today, she discovered that a 9 oz glass of Samona Cutter Chardonnay had jumped to $22.30. At Wegman's you can purchase an entire bottle for around $19.00. Before leaving today my wife spoke to the General Manager. She simply told him: "I know that you don't set the prices, but I wanted to let you know you have lost a customer." As diners, we need to speak up when a restaurant continues to think that they can take advantage of customers without consequences. We both urge anyone thinking of making a reservation at Bonefish to be aware of their pricing policies. Just not acceptable to us any longer. read more

Been coming to this Bonefish for the past 16 years. Never disappoints. Went to happy hour last night and I still can't stop thinking about the Sliders and the Bang Bang Chicken bites. Please keep these forever! It was like one of the best sliders I've ever had in my life LOL. I also don't eat shrimp anymore, so the fact that someone thought of the bang bang chicken bites was an answer from heaven! The bees knees and blueberry lemon drop martinis were perfect as well. Once I finally got to Bonefish I have kept going. In my opinion you can't beat their lunch specials and happy hour. Only down side is when you go for lunch as I did with my workout group from the YMCA, about 20 plus people they only gave us about 5 menus with the Lunch Specials on it. I made the reservation online and was easily able to change it to 630 when we realized we were running early. I appreciated the simplicity of making and changing reservations online. The service was fair, and the hostess was nice and happily accommodated our booth seating request. We decided to skip the appetizer, but we both got drinks. I ordered the dragonfruit margarita and was shocked at how much I liked it. I don't drink much alcohol. He ordered a mule and was happy with it. We both got filets (medium rare), and my husband got a lobster tail. The steaks were amazingly flavored and cooked, but the lobster tail seemed like it could've been cooked for a bit longer. So we have been going to this Bonefish Grill since 2005 and have kept coming back because of the high quality and have never had a bad experience, until today. We arrived one half hour after lunch opening. We sat down and were immediately attended to by our waiter. We ordered water and our appetizer. The appetizer Ahi tuna . The tuna was ok but it came on a bed of lettuce which was clearly old, wilted, and had brown edges. This should have never been sent to us. The broccoli was so over cooked she could make baby food out of it with her fork. On top of all that we were never asked if we wanted bread which we have always loved. When we asked our waiter if it was still served he yes and do we want some. This was at the end of the lunch so no. It is clear standards at Bonefish grill have fallen off and it is sad. We recently visited Bonefish Grill for a special. Night out. We didn't have reservations and were able to be seated right away. Our waitress was super friendly, and very communicative. There were some issues in the kitchen, so some items took a bit longer than they would have normally but this wasn't a big deal for us, as we chatted and sipped on a great bottle of wine. The mussels in a rich butter sauce were great! We ordered two specials shrimp linguine and salmon, both were really good. We ordered the key lime cake and apple cheesecake, both were delicious! The food at Bonefish is always good. However, the service at this location was horrendous. We arrived about 7pm, there were exactly 4 people in the restaurant. We were walked past clean tables , except one table with left over food, to the rear. There was a string bean and crumbs on two of the banquet seats. Rather than wait for them to be cleaned we asked for one of the clean tables near the front. The waiter did not return during our meal to ask if we needed anything and he had to be tracked down for the bill. The manager sat at a table the whole evening looking at his phone. Service was great, but food has gone downhill. First, the Miso topped Halibut does not look like the picture you see advertised. Instead I thought it was flounder since it was so thin,.
