    Açaí bowl with almond butter.

This is probably the best açaí bowl place in Sydney. They are located on Perfect location and serves good quality açaí bowls. Açaí bowls are huge in quantity. They also serve smoothies and healthy nibbles.

Nothing makes me happy like fresh fruit & veg, and the Fruitologist staff keep everything on high rotation, freshening the water regularly and lovingly looking after their produce. Plus as this place is BUSY it has a high stock turn-over anyway. The produce is reasonably priced and they have everything you need to make a meal if you just want to make one stop. If you're after oils, tinned tomatoes, bread, pre-made salads and soups they have all that here too. Even flowers, so if you're rushing for a dinner date this is a handy place to stop in! The groceries are more expensive than nearby Kemeny's but the fruit & veg at Kemeny's is of inferior quality so I'll let you figure that out. Specials bins out front have pre-packed and loose selections and a rack by the cash registers holds everything that didn't pass muster in the stock rotation. I've picked up some experimental stuff (eg artichokes, purple sweet potatoes) I'd never cooked with before from here, just because!

What I love about Bondi Road Fruitologist is that yes, they sell good quality fruit and vegetables, but there's also a host of other delicious things for sale here too. There's lots of healthy museli's, cereals, nuts, grains, yoghurts, fruit salads, fruit baskets... I could go on but I think you get the idea. Then there's the chutneys, sauces, spreads, dips, olives, cheeses, cold meats and all the other fabulous deli-food that Bondi Road Fruitologist also stocks. Not to mention the ice-cream, gelato and chocolates you can buy here! My favourite is the strawberry plates they sell for $6.99 which hold about 7 or 8 huge strawberries and you can also buy a couple of chocolate dipping pots with them. The prices are pretty reasonable, they are higher than the major supermarkets but the quality of the fruit and vegetables is noticeably better.

I get it, Bondi. You're a spectacular beach, you have awesome water views, and you're full of beautiful people. But that just doesn't make it ok to charge $5 for one mango, during mango season. Or $6 for a punnet of really sour cherry tomatoes. Granted, the Fruitologist is conveniently located on the bustling beachbound traffic vein that is Bondi Road, so higher than usual prices are to be expected. They do a roaring trade, which means high stock turnover and therefore a lot of fresh produce on display, but grab just and a handful of items to supplement your dinner and you're easily looking at a $20 transaction. I will however give them some deserved snaps for stocking interesting and helpful items, like the little pots of liquid chocolate that sit right next to the strawberries, or the rose/pistachio/vanilla Persian fairy floss at the counter to add a bit of interest to your desserts. Their best item by far are the fresh coconut sold from the corner nook of the shop facing Kemeny's. After a long day at the beach, these massive vessels are sliced open for you to slurp away at their chilled, salty-sweet liquid innards. Once empty, they double up as a tropical cocktail container, too.

Now having…read morediscovered this Coles, I feel rather lucky to come to Yoga inside the shopping centre where this supermarket is situated once a week; and on this I always make a visit to Coles at Westfield Bondi Junction without fail. Pity they don't award Qantas Frequent Flyer Points for purchases over $30 like their major competitor does. The airy ambience and bright lighting is so welcoming. Love the fresh fruit display as you walk in. Fresh quality fruit, and ever so welcoming. Love a kilo of Red Delicious Apples ($5.50) in particular, they're juicy as. I stock up on these for the next few days ahead. The pizza bar right near the sit down (or take away) sushi bar and cafe is just amazing. I have tried the meat lovers and tropicana pizzas ($5 a slice in the past), and today I enjoyed a full serve of some Peri Peri Chicken Pizza ($5) while killing some time prior to an important dentists appointment. Generous pieces of chicken with the right amount of tangy sauce, with a few pieces of sun dried tomato succumbed to the senses and hit the spot at around 11am. These ingredients are clearly fresh, and they combine well with the cheese - mmmm swiss cheese. Today, there were samples of this and the grilled haloumi and pumpkin pizza for free - such a filling lunch in itself. There were also free samples of some hot chicken curry pie, and in the deli section some beautiful meats and cheeses to try. You do not feel like you've stepped into a supermarket when in these areas, and the service is friendly and consistently good. You can even pay for your groceries at the pizza bar. Coconut water never seems to escape you at this particular Coles either. I stock up (as best as possible) on 1 litre bottles of coconut water from here despite the constant fluctuations on prices (inflation, excuse me) with an abundance of these always on special. I need such for my daily green elixir that appears to be working, although not in areas of my body where I really want (and need it to) as of late. You can move quickly in the self service checkouts too. Come here for: * Piping hot pizza slices for five bucks - tick. * Free food samples (if you're lucky) - tick, tick. * Fresh fruit - tick, tick, tick. * Coconut water at inflated prices - tick, tick, tick, tick.

I was concerned about a lot of things, the hottest topic being how far the closest Woolys/IGA/[insert large brand supermarket] was from our prospective location. The humble storefront Nio and Tony's occupies didn't help. I thought it was merely adding insult to injury, you know, of living in such a dire location... That is, until I stepped inside and found myself in Mary Poppin's handbag. I don't know how a store this tiny manages to do it, but they have *everything* the hubs and I used to cross all over town for. These guys have the specialty items we need (think Paul's skim lactose free milk and gluten free products), fresh fish and poultry, a fully stocked Greek deli with cheese, bread and insanely delicious looking desserts, fresh flowers - and magically - every type of home-ware we've needed from lightbulbs to extension cords to mops. And the price-checker in me is happy to report that it's not anymore expensive than you'd find at one of the bigger guys. All this aside, the fellows inside (let's hope it's really Nio and Tony) are as sweet as can be. I spent more than a few big Olympic nights loitering a bit too long in their shop until I learned that the whole local community was doing the same thing. North Bondi is lucky to have such a great local shop.
