In fact not only are most sold on the high street (try House of Fraser) they are also sold for a fraction of te price. I recently bought a dress for a wedding at £85 from Fonda only to discover the exact same item sold at £47 (at full price, not a sale item) at HoF. Fonda refuses to give refunds leaving me stuck with the over payment. I took the liberty of googling a number of other items, each one being vastly more expensive at Fonda. These two shops may be useful to browse for ideas but always google before committing to purchase or be prepared to feel thoroughly ripped off!

Even though the website has a catalogue of only shoes and accessories, in the shop itself most of the space is taken up by clothes. Chaal is actually a manufacturing company as well as a shop so they are selling their own products. Its been around for about 20 years. Expect to pay around £25- £50 for a pair of shoes, be if for men or women, and accessories (mainly bags) for around £15. They also do bridal items and a kids selection.

Whoever designed the window display is an artist as a scarecrow dressed in the most yummy butterfly halter-neck stands in a landscape of flowers. I entered in a trance like state and the lovely assistant Rebecca helpfully talked me through the stock. I loved the fact that they do not buy in bulk and you view each garment as a "piece" rather than simply clothes. Prices are moderate, slightly more than high street chains but you don't mind paying £60 for a unique Nood creation as opposed to £45 for a high street clone. Colours are bright and fabrics are great quality. Recognisable names such as Religion get into bed with new designer wares. This is no run of the mill ladieswear. A new range of gorgeous dove grey vintage inspired oilcloth bags and cute jewellery are also available to compliment your outfit. Open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am -6pm, Nood also opens its doors on a Sunday (12-5pm)- very handy for weekday nine to fivers. So did I buy the butterfly dress? This longevity is testament to the enduring talent of owner Alison, who has continually offered an eclectic mix of clothes, accessories and shoes from her own portfolio as well as interesting ranges from other designers like Religion, Gash and Get Cutie. It never feels stagnant in here, she keeps it fresh and all the accessories, bags and belts are so different to what you'd find on the high street. What I love most about this store though is it caters for every pocket. You can see why it has such a wide appeal.

The clothes are all really pretty and nice and shiny and colourful and the girls look nice with them on. Also, its much cheaper than most of the places for clothes in Rusholme. This and the nearby Shagun seem to me to be the TK-Max of Rusholme fashion, by which I mean that they sell the same clothes, but arrange them in a disorderly fashion and cut the prices drastically. Can't work out why they do this, or why people still buy the same clothes from the more expensive shops. Any ideas?
