This place, is such a weird and wonderful eclectic mix. It feels part tiki bar, but has so much more to offer.
After a late afternoon of much needed fabric shopping, and a brief hit for my paperchase addiction, we had booked here on the eat out to help out scheme way back when! We went for the mocktails as I was driving, and went for dishes to share off the menu. A couple of things we fancied were sold out (particularly gutted about the crab bao buns, still need to go back and try them), but there was so much to choose from that looked good it didn't really matter!
On our table we had
California rolls
Duck dumplings with plum sauce
Tempura
Maki rolls
Kimchi
Katsu
All of them were great, the katsu had a good level of spice, tempura was crispy, the kimchi was just the right amount if acidic.
They were out of japanese cheesecake (which I guess is cotton jiggly cake?) We had the Youtiao for pudding, which looked like they were going to be a bit boring, but the chocolate sauce was piped inside.
Our waitress, it's worth saying, was absolutely lovely too, she was helpful, friendly and attentive, and I definitely felt for her in the heat going up and down those stairs.
I definitely plan to go back, especially some time where I'm not driving. read more
