Food was really really good. From the homemade fish finger sandwiches, to the pulled pork and caesar salads to the freshly squeezed lemonade....everything was delicious. A bit pricey and service seemed a tad bit slow, but alas, its creative homestyle cooking with a contemporary twist is my kind of theme. Especially for lunch!

It was a cute little place with it's counter and chalk boards, and those trendy salt and pepper wells you and strangers with unknown hand hygiene habits dip your fingers in that I wonder how often they swap them out for fresh stuff, but regardless... He had coffee I don't remember the name of as I'm nit a coffee drinker, and I had a pot of earl grey, and we both plumped for eggs benedict, which was quite possibly the best traditional eggs benedict I've had not in the comfort of my own home. I rather enjoyed my brekkie here!

We happened to visit one of the 'theme nights' which meant that, being Monday, there was a great selection of Chinese food and you can revisit the hot buffet as often as you like for £6.49. (Most, if not all, Brewers Fayre pubs offer special themed meals every day of the week: Monday Chinese; Tuesday Pie Night; Wednesday Texmex; Thursday Curry; Friday Chip Shop; Saturday Chicken Shack; Sunday Carvery) Of course you can also choose different meals from the huge and varied menu and there are 'meal deals' too, like the two main meals for £10 offer (available Monday to Friday, 12 noon until 6.30pm). I had a delicious vegetarian curry that night (my husband went for the Chinese buffet which he said was really excellent), and I have visited Brewers Fayre restaurants in other parts of the UK over the past couple of years and enjoyed many different delicious meals. (Thank goodness we have a Brewers Fayre in our own town too!!) Redhill is well signed off the roundabout and there's a big free car park immediately outside.

We were given a table just inside the door by the window, which was fine because it wasn't too busy, and the service was friendly and efficient. Poppadoms and Cobra beer got our taste buds excited, and we weren't disappointed when my stock favourite, onion bhajee, arrived. Freshly cooked with a crisp salad, it was first class, and then we moved onto the mains. Lamb tikka, chicken jalfrezi , pilau raice saag bhajee and paratha all pleased. The decorations and furnishing in Sheraz are in a style that was contemporary in about 1980, but it's clean and inviting and we'll be going again. £37.50 for the food including three pints of Cobra.

NOTHING AT ALL! You have a couple of quid supplement on some thing like steak or duck, but otherwise it's a total foodie fest! My starter had lovely ripe fig with soft goats cheese, and the main (Assiette de France) was a pot of olives in fresh herbs and oil, a tomato pickle, a mini baked Camembert, two pairs of frogs legs, two fish cakes and some leaves serve on a slate. The house red wine is Fleur de Lys and the service is polite and connected. What's not to love. Next time I'm here, this is my destination of choice! I have to say how lovely the couple were at the next table. So friendly, with some great tips. The cafe is warm and welcoming, yes, cramped in the entrance where the servery is, but I tend to go early or late for lunch. Although tempted by the hot lasagne, or other dishes, I invariably go for one of up to 3 choices of utterly delicious nut-based roasts, of which a big chunk is warmed up if you wish. Chutney is a good accompaniment. As the fresh salad selection is so colourful and includes many interesting and inspiring combos of raw veg/fruit - I always go for the full platter offer - and crunch my way through them. Loose leaf teas and tisanes abound, with a pot of hot water in addition to the regular pot. Desserts to die for - but probably best fetched if you have room from the massive plate of salads! I tried a seasonal fruit and nut tart in December and it was truly scrumptious! [sounds like a song!!!!] The staff at The Good Life are friendly and knowledgeable about the food served. I sing the praises of the establishment to any friend I can, and have introduced several to it, all vowing to return.
