Everything is always good here. There's really nothing else to say. Every single thing I've had from the menu has been great, the people who work there are super nice, they're even willing to take payment in dollars instead of euros, with a one-to-one exchange rate, which is absolutely unnecessary on their part, but just something they do My mom is south Asian, so I grew up with this food, and I would genuinely be happy to take her there. I've had a lot better Indian food whilst in the San Francisco Bay Area...but I really wanted some Indian food whilst in Germany - it was also my friend's birthday! They were very accommodating when we wanted to reserve a table for 11 (they were also pretty empty when we got there) and had balloons everywhere. When it came time for our orders, they placed tea light/warmers on the table and then placed the curries on top which I thought was nice, to not let them get cold as we ate. I had the lamb curry with garlic naan as well as a mango lassi - the latter of which was too sweet and not at all like the lassi's I have had in the bay. Too sweet and too much yogurt. The lamb curry was so-so, I think a little too spicy masking the lamb flavor in the curry. The naan was great! I think the highlight of the night :) Everyone else ordered a chicken curry - both sweet and spicy - each with good flavors. We were also given two huge plates of rice! read more

Was not expecting to wander all over Germany and wind up in a tiny town consuming Indian cuisine, but hey, I'm down for any thing my fellow food-loving friends say is amazing. It was a little strange, though, to see cow on the menu. Beef? At an Indian restaurant? My friend told me it's suicide to not serve beef in Germany... guess she was right! They were open rather late which was great considering we rolled in well past normal European dining hours. The naan with the raita was especially delicious, and I enjoyed trying a little bit of everyone's dishes (even if my friends like things so spicy it's on fire...). Lots of flavor, healthy portions, great overall meal. Service was also friendly and on point - I never felt forgotten or as if I was being stalked with every lift of the fork. I'm still not sure what to make of all the meat on the menu, but there are plenty of veggie-friendly options if you're not a meat eater. This place is hidden behind the ever popular zimblute. The service is pretty good, but we've had the occasional waiter that we have to grab their attention for something. CASH ONLY, so bring your euros. Food is really good, and you get a small soup before every entree (pretty sure its pureed chickpea). They bring out a plate warmer (candle that keeps the plate warm) and the restaurant is simply decorated. Only grip is some of the dishes taste the same. My husband and I will get different dishes, but they seem to taste exactly the same. They taste good, but you expect them to vary and they dont. I like to think you never forget your first indian food experience. I like to think that because I so vividly remember mine. It was at a buffet in Cincinnati. The sights of the steam tables, the smell of naan bread and the taste of curry. Oh god, the flavors... I've now introduced several people to "indian food" here, but I can't say I know enough about the region to say specifically what comes from where. The typical flavors are in line with nearly every indian restaurant I've been to, but saying "indian food" is about as ambiguous as saying "american food". Yet, it's a surprise to me that this style of food isn't more popular as a whole. As a regular lunch patron who has attained reserved-table status, I can tell you that Bombay gets it right every time. Their waitstaff is a notch below annoyingly polite, and their food is produced with a machine-like consistency. Quality is top-notch. The menu is huge, almost too huge, and their spicy chutney is hot enough to keep my more adventures friends coming back. The only reasons I can see people failing to come back consistently are two things. One, eating through the menu until you find something or some-things that you like. Especially if you're not adventurous, they offer a wide range of flavors that can take a while to navigate. Be patient. Two. The inside (and outside, actually) looks a little rough around the edges. Most of the decor is wrapped in plastic or looks brittle and untouched. The venue is clean, sure, but just... lacking. Hand written signs and drinks from a two-liter. That kind of thing. What you need to know is that this place is awesome, just look at the other reviews. While the aesthetics can be disparaging, the deliciousness of the food trumps all. Came in for the first time yesterday, not really knowing what to expect. As soon as you walk in you're greeted by the friendly wait staff and seated. The delicious aroma of foods permeates the air as you sit in the dining area and await your food. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. I ordered a plate of Beef Biryani, and was blown away. For €13, you get a giant portion of the dish. It was made and spiced to perfection. I also ordered regular naan bread and the delicious flavor reminded of the first time I had naan in Kabul, Afghanistan. All in all the great food, and friendly staff along with the nice atmosphere provide for a 5 star dining experience. In other words, ITS LIT FAM! read more

This is place is a gem since Indian food isn't as popular in Germany as it is in the US. The service is good, the restaurant has a casual atmosphere, and the food is pretty good as well. Though, I have to admit I have a bias, my husband is Indian so I have had his mother's (amazing) cooking and have learned the recipes myself and eat Indian dishes several times a week, so I am a bit critical. Though the place is called Bombay, it actually serves more Northern Indian foods which are yummy, but are lacking some of the basic "oomf" you'd expect from Indian food. I suppose this might be in part because Germans don't usually prefer extremely flavorful/spicy foods and Bombay is just trying to cater to the local tastes to be a successful business. With that being said, I think they could work on some of their dishes, such as the korma, chicken tikki masala, daal, and subgees. I've been here twice and though it was decent, I didn't have much of a desire to return for a 3rd time and haven't been back in over a year. Overall, I'd say give it a try! Very good food. We wanted to go to our usual place but it is closed on Mondays. We decided to try Bombay for the first time and it was really good. Relatively prompt service and food delivery to the table. It was also relatively inexpensive. For two of us, two entrees and naan, it was about €33. We asked for spicy and he asked us if we wanted medium spicy, hot spicy or very hot spicy. We ended up going with hot spicy and it was just right. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Backstory: Went here today for lunch with some colleagues. Had never been to Bombay before. I was looking forward to trying out some Indian Cuisine. Atmosphere: I appreciated the "ethnic" feeling of the restaurant. I was really feeling the artwork and choice of music in this environment. The aroma of years of curry and spices had me feeling all the more immersed. I was comfortable and felt as though I was in the company of friends, and by that I mean the staff as well. There were two staff members who catered to us today. Both were as polite and courteous as could be. Food: Our drink orders were taken and delivered promptly. I ordered the Samosa as an appetizer, followed by the Chicken Tinga Masala as my main dish. As a surprise, the whole table was treated to a Lentil Soup, on the house. The Lentil Soup was literally steaming hot, It possessed a nutty and earthy smell, and the taste was just as pleasant. It was a perfect warm-up to get my tastebuds going before my order. The delicious soup had me feeling relaxed. Quickly after the soup, my Samosa showed up. I received two palm-sized dumplings, fried to an attractive golden brown. They were accompanied on the plate by fresh cucumber and a mint sauce. The Samosa was prepared perfectly. The exterior was flaky and soft, while the inside was packed and flavorful. The taste of the Samosa gave me an intimation of what was to come, just as an appetizer should. The Indian flavors were present, though not overpowering. The vegetable filling, made with a foundation of soft potatoes, was pleasant to me. The mint sauce was perfect; not too strong, and complimentary to the dish. I found myself scraping the plate for every drop of the sauce. Soon after our appetizers were cleared, the staff provided us with traditional warmer plates in anticipation of the main course. Large platters of fragrant rice were provided; soft and fluffy. Our group anticipated the arrival of our main course. Now, it should be noted that I asked the server for the hottest version of my Chicken Tinga. Humorously, he replied, "are you sure, sir?" I told him I was sure and he wished me luck. I was confident that my American palette and love of all things spicy could handle what he had to offer. WARNING: if you are new to spicy foods, do not ask for the hottest. For me, it was just as pleasingly spicy as Indian curry should be. The flavor was complex and enjoyable. My nose was running slightly, and I was on the verge of breaking a sweat. This is exactly what I wanted in a traditional curry entree. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the sauce not overwhelming. I enjoy tasting my poultry, complimentary to the sauce. This dish hit the mark. I was finished with no leftovers, as I could simply not stop eating this wonderful fare. Final Thoughts: I was particularly excited to share my experience at Bombay. I have driven past the restaurant almost daily for a year or longer. Bombay has secured a place on my list of stand-out establishments. I look forward to exploring the vast menu and expanding my Indian/Pakistani culinary experience in the process. BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT HESITATE. ALL AROUND GREAT EXPERIENCE. The entrees are really hit or miss. The last time I ordered Chana Masala, the chickpeas seemed to drown in oily sauce. I do think the "dinner for two (45 euro)" menu is actually a great deal, and I remembered enjoying all of it. Servers are nice and attentive. Biggest con is the lack of any temperature control--we tried to enjoy a dinner here on a colder day and were absolutely freezing, even with our jackets on. I have had good and poor experiences here. The staff is friendly, but I went there tonight. I had Beef Korma, and it was nasty. The beef pieces were chewy, like rubber bands! I was really disappointed, because I have had much better food there. To be honest, it didnt taste like beef at all.
