"Namaskaar", a greeting in Hindi that implies politeness and respect, something that was not received by us when stepping foot into this restaurant not once, but two nights in a row. My wife and I, craving some quality Indian food, decided to try this restaurant after the 4.5 stars on yelp and the good reviews.
The first day we entered, we were turned away by the owner after he stated "I am completely booked", impolitely shaking his head and refusing to even look in our direction. We understood there was a conference in town, and so the restaurant being busy and unable to accommodate us was reasonable, as other restaurants also even had the same issue. But the manner in which we were turned away was rude and unwelcoming.
Despite this, we decided to give him and the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, chalking it up to being overly stressed. The next day, we return, and this time, there were at least 2-3 tables available when we arrived. Even though we saw available tables, we still understood that there was a chance that they may be spoken for through some prior reservation. We asked the waitress if there was room for 2 as we entered, and she gave us a nervous / scared look as she proceeded to walk towards the direction of the owner to ask. We followed, and she asked him if they can seat 2 people. This time, the owner has his back towards us while he is sitting by the bar area, and he doesn't even bother to turn around to address us directly. He converses and/or argues with his waitress for about a minute, after which he shakes his head, and shoos us away with his left hand very offensively without even having the decency to turn around and communicate with us face-to-face.
We had no problem with being turned away because the restaurant was at full capacity, but to be treated in this manner and to be casted away without regard is unacceptable. It is too bad we didn't even get a chance to try out the alleged 4.5 stars worth food, but we did get a rather bitter taste of sub-par, less than 1 star service. We won't be returning a third time, two strikes was enough for us. read more
