I'm not great at dealing with spice, so curries are pretty much off my menu. However, being a loving girlfriend I accompanied my boyfriend when we had a craving for it. And I was actually really glad that I did. The restaurant itself was really nicely kept and furnished. The waiter was lovely and the delivery of food to our table was so speedy. I had said, apologetically, that I really wasn't good with curry and when they brought my food out it had the most deliciously mild warmth to it. Obviously, for curry lovers that's not great. But my point is that they went out of their way to make my meal enjoyable. Lovely lovely people. Lovely lovely meal.

Opted for the King Prawn Saag (spinach dish) and steamed rice and it was delicious. My friend had the prawn corma and a garlic naan and both were very tasty (though she said that the korma seemed a little saltier than usual). We had a large bottle of Kingfisher each and the whole lot came to £28.50, which I consider to be very decent, considering the quality of the food (and comparing that with the price of drinks in Cardiff these days. Earlier in the evening, I paid £8.10 for two Vodka & Diet Cokes in the Park Plaza Laguna bar. I think going out is going to bankrupt me before long!). But back to Balti Cuisine. The decor is fabulous: LOVING the blue water cubes inlaid in the walls (they made me feel all sunny and bright!) and the table decor is clean, simple and stylish. The staff were friendly and very polite; no one pushed us to order a starter or a side dish, which is a bug-bear of mine (has anyone else been to an Indian where you feel like a criminal if you don't order starter, couple of mains with loads of sides; a mountain of food you can't possibly eat? I hate that). In the middle of our dinner, the staff also proved their mettle by dealing compassionately with a tricky situation involving an older couple who were very drunk and falling down. The staff showed genuine concern for their customers and called an ambulance while my friend picked the lady off the floor, sat her on a chair and talked to her until she calmed down. After the couple had left, every waiter came and genuinely thanked my friend for her assistance. All-in-all, I was impressed and I'll definitely be going back. I want to try some more dishes!

There are highlights, but it's the low-lights that make this an average establishment. Now, for a residential neighborhood it's a pretty nice asset to have on your doorstep. In fact, we drove a few miles to get here. But with a poor chicken curry dish, lumpy oily rice and a old garlic naan bread it's not the best curry in Bristol. The highlights are the lamb curry, and tandoori trout which was a big dish and moist and crispy. Add the good service, nice decor and fair prices Raj Mahal might be on your favorite list. I think I'm going to still look for another curry house to call my regular. Four of us ate well and had a couple of half pints of beer for £50.

Therefore, after our immediate greeting, we found ourselves seated in a quiet corner at a spacious booth table. The choice in decoration is subtle and relatively modern, but without the overt flamboyance often found in ultra-modern decoration in Indian restaurants. No light shows, indoor fireworks, or waterfalls are to be found here. First impressions suggested a professional dedication to service and attentiveness from the staff, an emphasis on subtle atmosphere due to dimmed lights and the type of music usually found in Indian restaurants playing at a low background volume. A seat away from the main door and bar is recommended as this restaurant provides a take-away service which is apparently very popular, and a combination of long queue and a door in near-constant action may not be too every diner's satisfaction. Immediate service was fast and attentive: within less than a minute of being seated we were presented with an extensive drinks menu. I am no expert on wine and shall not attempt to claim to be one, but I could see from the list that many variations were available; in addition to lagers, spirits, mixers and soft drinks. A large cool glass of lassi is of particular recommendation for diners who find themselves defeated by a thoroughly spicy dish. While waiting for our drinks to arrive we were presented with the main menu, which contained the usual diverse Indian favorites of such an establishment, with the addition of some interesting special items. The menu provided gratifying explanations of each dish. Those seeking vegetable dishes are well catered for with the extensive options available on the menu, in addition to the special Thali vegetable option. Skipping straight to the main course we were presented in good time with our choice in lamb passanda and Kashmir chicken. The lamb was clearly fresh and of good quality, its rich texture and taste perfectly matching the mild yoghurt sauce with coconut and almonds. The Kashmir chicken was mild as promised, but without the degradation in taste which often accompanies a dish of this type: the chicken was of good quality and in plentiful quantity, and the banana and cream sauce with almonds was rich and thick. The mushroom pilau rice was large enough in portion to share. For side dishes we chose sag aloo and chana masala. The sag aloo was one of the best we have ever sampled: it was neither too greasy nor too dry, and the potatoes were soft and in large quantity. The chana masala added some spice to our relatively mild choices in main meals. Our breads (banana and peshwari) were a satisfying mix of crispy and soft, while also warm and flavorsome. All of our choices were presented well and clearly designed with a sense of uniform in mind. Having finished our main meals, a waiter was at our table within no time at all to clear our dishes and check how the meal was going so far. Eyes being considerably larger than our stomachs (which is often the case for many I'm sure in most Indian restaurants) we passed on dessert, although we could see from the menu that many varied options were available. The coconut ice-cream was particularly tempting. We decided to approach the bar and sort out the bill, not because we felt abandoned but because we wanted to leave and enjoy a much-needed after-dinner stroll. The restaurant host, after having asked us how our meals were, organized our bill and gave us a couple of chocolate mints to see us on our way. The host delegated the actual payment of the bill to a member of waiting staff, who during the card payment process asked if we would like to leave a tip, which I felt was a little uncomfortable and unnecessary. Leaving a tip is the diner's option and this should never be prompted. Due the large number of staff on hand, combined with their overall attentiveness and dedication to good service, neither of us felt as though we were waiting an uncomfortable period of time for an order to be taken or a request to be met. We did not feel rushed and we did not have to deal with constant intrusions and interruptions. Overall it was a pleasant experience, although we dined during a quiet period and perhaps the atmosphere would have been less comfortable for a couple if we had decided on a later time and would have been sharing the restaurant with groups. Creating A Great Eating Experience…read more I found that Misbah took the time to listen to how we wanted our dishes, which for me, I expect to be way hotter than normal preparations, to which they presented with excellence. The overall experience and customer care was first-rate. My advice to having the best experience is to discuss the menu with the waiter and always add a restaurant choice of something you have never had before, we had a king prawn dish for starter on their recommendation and the Misbah went out there way to make sure everything was first class. I highly recommend a visit to Misbah and I look forward to going again and again.

We've tried various curries and sides from here, including the korma, butter chicken, rogan, jalfrazi, biryani, veggie curry, sag aloo, and a few different naans. No complaints about any of the flavours with these curries! Their peshwari naan is packed with coconut and sultanas and goes really well with the more mild curries. They usually give us extra papadoms when we order them too. For takeaway, I'd recommend booking online if you want to eat early as they are often very busy at opening. We will continuing being regulars here!

And old pub converted into this fabulous Indian restaurant and takeaway. A full car park which is always a good sign, diners packed into the dining room noshing away at bowls of golden curry, fluffy rice and fresh crisp naan breads. There where four of us and we had booked because quite honestly you have to. I'd be very surprised if you got a table if you'd just walked in off the street. Again another very good sign. We where greeted by a friendly member of staff and shown to our table. Drinks orders where taken and poppadoms brought to the table. The pickles that accompanied the poppadoms where delicious. Not too sure if they where made in house or not I'm guessing not, but either way they tasted good. We did have starters and with quite an extensive collection there is a lot to choose from. I had the king prawn butterfly. A deliciously perfectly cooked king prawn fried in golden breadcrumbs and served with a small side salad. For the curry then, I had a lamb rogan josh. Quite a mild dish with only a little spice added. To accompany that I had a keema rice and a couple of chapattis. The rice dish is enough for two to share as the curry itself is quite filling. But it was a lovely accompaniment. Not too overpowering with the spiced meat and not too overloaded with onion they got the balance just right. The rogan josh was delightful. It's the first time I've had it and I was impressed. Delicately flavoured and packed with tomato and onion. The sauce was really tasty there just wasn't enough of it to dip the bread in. The meat itself was nice a little tough for my liking but still very nice. The chapattis where beautifully cooked, fresh and hot strait out of the tandoor they where perfect. Not too small you think what's the point. And not too bit you think what am I going to do with this? The meal was finished off nicely with complimentary liquors. We decided not to go for dessert because we'd had such a good meal there was no more room. The service in this restaurant is very good. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful. They are only to happy to recommend a dish to you especially if you a first time curry eater. The restaurant itself is very contemporary, spacious and inviting. I'd highly recommend this place to any curry lover or someone who wants to go to a curry house for the first time. I shall definitely be going back in the not to distant future.
